Rafa Benitez has revealed further details on the Fernando Torres situation following his absence against Fulham today – and it’s not great news. Torres will apparently seek specialist advice for an ongoing knee problem tomorrow, after which Liverpool and his Fantasy owners are likely to get a prognosis on the situation.

The Liverpool boss spoke out following today’s disappointing 0-0 stalemate…

“He has a problem with his knee. He’s gone to see a specialist and we are waiting for news…We don’t know yet. It depends on what the specialist says tomorrow. He had a problem before and we were trying to protect him.”

This news will deeply worry the thousands who left on the Torres bandwagon following his recent form and the injury that robbed us of Wayne Rooney’s services. The Spaniard is due to face West Ham at Anfield next, with the first leg of the Europa League semi-final sandwiched in between that game and a trip to Burnley. Even if tomorrow brings good news on the striker’s fitness, the concern now is that Rafa will look to preserve his star striker for the tie with Atletico Madrid, depriving us of continued Fantasy returns.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
