Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Florent Malouda is “available to play” against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Chelsea boss stressed in his afternoon press conference that Malouda had made a good recovery from the ankle injury that saw him miss Tuesday’s win over Spartak. He went on to confirm that Frank Lampard would miss out on Sunday and would not be considered until the Stamford Bridge clash with Sunderland next weekend. Michael Essien remains a doubt for Sunday with his toe injury still a slight concern.

Cech, Ivanovic, Cole, Terry, Alex, Mikel, Zhirkov, Drogba and Anelka were all confirmed in Ancelotti’s starting lineup. He went on to state that Essien or Ramires and Malouda or Kalou would complete the eleven.

The availability of Malouda comes as a major boost for Fantasy Managers and he would now seem likely to start at Anfield. It’s bittersweet news however – the consideration for Malouda owners now is that he could well miss out in one of Chelsea’s forthcoming home games against Fulham and Sunderland in the next week should he start at Anfield.

Earlier today we had confirmation that Nani would sit out of the Old Trafford encounter with Wolves and remain a doubt for City in midweek. Just moments ago we also had confirmation that Rafael Van der Vaart was out of the Bolton trip, while Aaron Lennon is a doubt for Spurs.

As always, all the very latest team news is being collected as it drops from the Manager’s mouths in our Team News section. Keep popping back and monitor the Twitter feed for the fresh new arrivals.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Tevez, Nani, Van der Vaart and Jara now out. Possibly Malouda, Fabregas..?

Total disaster for my team and I don`t want to lose any of these players or waste transfers this GW but I guess I have to make some transfers now...:(

"If that wasn't enough they then trampled on the bedding plants aswell"...Hmm, I wasn't ROFLing when she was on about the fish dying but I was certainly LMAOing when that dude with the high pitched trembling voice started to moan too. Overall, I'd say you're just about not wrong to find it funny. 🙂

              Has to be 🙂

No i just was amazed by your recent love in with him.

I just dont ever see him do anything consistently enough in big games.

When he was younger Keane, Viera, Scholes , alway performed better
Then the likes of Fabregas, Essien, Alonso have all out shone him

He does score some SKY type goals but as an overall player he is very limited when you compare him to the very best

That and the never performing in big games 99% of time. I like Beckham more everyday.

in a few weeks time i thinik a few will be looking at gerrard as a fabregas replacement for a few weeks. arsenal have a period aroung gw17 (not sure exactly) where most of their games are very difficult during which time liverpool have a great run

Wrong..early 2000's he was banging them in past Chelsea,Arsenal and the Manc for fun coupled with some fine assists. This has more or less continued although he's had the odd off day, which is understandable seen as he's been around for over 10 years

                  Thats my point.
He was completely missing at OT.

He scored a pen and a freekick .
                  Nothing besides.
Year b4 that yet another Pen.

Im just refering to actual gameplay compared to the very very best.

That is a completely daft statement when he has been instrumental in winning champions leagues and cup finals.
I heard exactly the same accusation levelled at Ronaldo before he scored in the champions league final.

People who leveled that at Ronaldo were daft.
Prior to the CL final in 2008 he had played excellent as a teenager with huge weight on his shoulders in Euro 2004 and WC 2006.

He also carried United to the title in 06-07 which we know anyway.
              Re Gerrard
It all depends on what you think are big games and what you define as consistent.

For the praise he gets over others I feel he falls short in both.

I think you could survive the week with that team. Back looks ok (with Gohouri as bench fodder) - mid looks little weak but nothing that can't be cured. I wouldn't sell Nani just because he misses the one game - you will probably want to buy him back soon. Probably get rid of de jong. You should have a starting 11 there, personally, I'd save transfers until next week.

Never thought I'd say this but I would be happy with 1 point from malouda. My extremely worrisome lineup for this GW:

    Robinson

    Cole, Elmo, Coleman, Dann

    Fabregas (C), Malouda, Brunt

    Drogba, Elmander, Carroll

    (VDV, Nani, Jara)

This has the makings of a heavy drinking weekend.

Depends on what price you bought Nani at I guess. Fixtures for the next two weeks slightly favour Everton, but you'd want Nani back in time for WIG, BLA, blp.

I've had him for a while, so would only get £8.5m back. With Arteta at £8.2 I'd rather keep hold of him...

Like most people I’m a bit stuck this weekend! Here’s the options I’m considering:

    1. Jara to Hutton (bol, SUN,BLA) – Good fixtures and strengthens my bench

    2. Tevez to Hernandez and Nasri to Fabregas – My worry is that Tevez surely has to play with the trouble that City are in and should score against Wbrom. Hernandez may also get something against Wolves. Also I spend most of my week worrying that Fab may score big.

    3. Albrighton to Adam/Nolan/Brunt - Strengthens my bench which I think will be important over this period and wont be rotated unlike the big guns. Bit worried that Adam has only scored from the spot and not too keen on Nolan’s fixtures. Brunt’s fixtures look ok apart from tomorrow.

Any other ideas? Would really appreciate the help! Team listed below in case you don’t want to click the link..

    Foster (Haneman)
    ShawX, Coleman, Elmo (Foley,Jara)
    Nani, Malouda, Nasri, Arteta (Albrighton)
    Tevez, Drogba, Carroll

No idea who to captain 🙁

I'd improve Albrighton- Adam or Nolan both great picks, and Toon's fixtures are ok after this week aren't they?

Read your first line to yourself again 🙂 Go for Option F: Do Nothing and save transfer until next week when you may need it. You are taking too many point hits.

Who do people fancy to pick up more points this weekend?

    Nasri vs. Newcastle?
    Adam vs. Wigan?

Plan was to save transfer this week, then use two next to swap Nasri -> Adam to save some money and Jones/Dann -> Alex, but I'm tempted to pull the trigger early as I already have Fabs...

    Thoughts?

Adam plays Everton, so I'd say Nasri is more likely. But they do both have potential.

In which case, decision made. Nasri for me this weekend, and swapsies thereafter. Unless someone ELSE gets injured...

Worth getting Simpson in with my free or is he at risk of minus points this week? :/

With all these injuries I'd have to play him or just let Bosingwa get a nice 0.

So glad I didn't go crazy with transfers earlier this week, suddenly it doesn't look so bad.

Transfering out Konchesky to one of the following, but whom should I bring in?

    A: Jagielka
    B: Alex
    C: Zhirkov
    D: Someone else
    E: Keep Konchesky

    My team will be:

    Hart (Foster)
    Jones | O'Shea | MYSTERY GUEST | Elmo
    Malouda | Fabregas | Barton
    Drogba | Carroll | Dembele
Sub: Alcaraz | VdV | Nani

i would definitely consider holding onto konchesky now. liverpool have a nice run of fixtures coming up post-chelsea, can definitely see some cleanies coming through now it seems they are getting it together. he's on my watchlist as someone to bring in soon.

Ok so if didn't replace him I would probably field the following:

        Hart (Foster)
        Jones | O’Shea | Alcaraz | Elmo
        Malouda | Fabregas (c) | Barton
        Drogba | Carroll | Dembele
        Sub: Konchesky| VdV | Nani

    Gilks (Al Habsi)

    Coleman, elmo, alcaraz (Simpson, Foley)

    Nani, Adam, Fabregas, Malouda (vdv)

    Carrol, Drogba, Chamakh

Need to sort my terrible team, goaly and defence are poor, and now the midfield is heavily injured. Thinking of Nani/VDV----> Bale, freeing up for Jones and Salcido maybe in Defence ? any ideas guys struggling ??

Jones all well and good for the next couple of GWs, but tot, AVL, mun looming on the horizon.

You could get Jones in now, and then swap him out for, say, Knight in a couple of weeks? Bolton have wol, NEW, BLP in the same GWs - tasty!

    Foster

    Coleman, Jones, Elmo, Dann

    Malouda, Nasri (c), N'Zog

    Berba, Drog, Carroll

    Bench: Jaask, Williamson, Nani, VDV

The only thing I was thinking of doing was Williamson to Salcido. Not sure if it's worth it or just save the transfer for next week.

Keep Carroll - Newcastle have two home games after this weekend (BLA, FUL)...

      Think Nani's a season-keeper too...

I'm saving my transfer this week - accepted already it's gonna be a low scorer and there's nothing a short-term fix will solve that won't screw things up in the weeks to come.

While it's good that he's back from a Chelsea standpoint, he still brings the problems of being a £10m player I'll never captain unless Drogs was to get crocked. Whereas Nani and VDV are more important to their respective teams than FloMo.

Agreed. Like Mark said in the podcast i just cant seem to shift him, id be loosing 0.4, hes got decent fixtures and i thought hed be a definite season keeper. But its a matter of 1 great point scorer or getting 2 good point scorers. Im torn

Plus he's essentially OOP with how forward he plays.

Bringing in someone like Arteta would give me an extra captain option in the future and 2.6 in the bank to play about with.

It's certainly a tough decision as like you said, you don't imagine taking him out, but you have to look at all the possibilities. Plus people who have taken him out have done ok without him.

This will probably be an 11:29am decision tomorrow morning.

I really don't regret chucking him, he served his purpose in my team for the first 7 weeks and there is no room for sentiment. He takes neither penalties or FKs and will never be my captain unless I was looking to gamble, there is far better value to be found.
