The midweek action in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, saw 32 Fantasy Managers battle it out in the hope of reaching the last 16. You can see exactly who has achieved that feat right here, reading on for the round highlights…

As always, we start with the award for the top-scorer of the Gameweek; and this time it’s Roger‘s arm who is raised at the end of the round, and will be the recipient of a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. With a score of 61, Hapless Hat-tricks (36) had no chance, on the wrong end of the biggest points margin win of the round.

Roger’s closest challenger for the prize was DollyDaisy, who powered through to the last 16 with a 56 – 32 victory over rrmc.

The lowest scorer of the round was placidcasual, who could only muster 29 points, much to the relief of RJBroughton with his 37.

Outside the top two scorers and the lowest scorer, the other 29 fantasy managers were all within the range of 32 – 48 points, which resulting many close ties.

None more so than billbadger‘s match with Ann_der_roo. Both managers scored 35 points, and it was Ann_der_roo’s hugely impressive overall rank that puts an end to billbadger’s cup run. That was the lowest score good enough to go through.

Elsewhere, last week’s top-scorer, Gazzamania, has his cup run ended after a single point defeat to DRP (42 – 41).

Probably still smarting from his round one win over Mark, tippman looks to be going all the way. He came out on top 41 – 37 in his fifth round fixture with Unwillingplayer.

Manif once again upset the odds to reach the next round, beating atx1303 45 – 38, and putting himself a dizzying 319,956th in the world.

The fixtures for the last 16 will be published later today, but for now, congratulations to those awaiting news of their sixth round opponent, and commiserations to those whose interest in the tournament has dwindled considerably since Wednesday.

    HANG ON A SECOND

right. Drogba is sick, hes not 100%. Theres no bite in the chelsea midfield. Ramires will play. sunderland will bite the ankles off all of em, malouda could be moved central, a position i dont think he plays well

Do not delude yourselves by saying " surely drogba will pick up some points this weekend", this is possibly the least likely of his recent handy games where he'll pick up points.

Sunderland, despite a good showing against Tottenham midweek, have been poor on the road for 1-2 years now.

Tottenham peppered their goal in the first half and it took brilliant saves by Gordon to deny the likes of Bentley, VdV, and Modric from scoring. Huddlestone also hit the woodwork.

I think Chelsea will score and think Fulham, under Mark Hughes, and in a derby were a much more difficult team for Chelsea to deal with than Sunderland will be - who I don't think are one of those teams "mentally" who actually think they can win at the Bridge after going 0 - 1 down.

They came back from a goal down against both spurs and liverpool away from home this year to claim draws. Son't think there's a problem with their mentality at all. I reckon it's gonna be a draw.

mummy then played the next game and tottenham smelt like rotation with the likes of zenden coming in. not sure mummy did much wrong v newcastle, the 2 goals when he was on were from a set piece and carrolls comical bicycle kick on the right side of the box. bruce showed when cattermole got sent off mummy is the one to sacrifice when things are going tits up.

ur an idiot. u dont have a clue. no bite in chelsea midfield? drogba at 60% shud pick up points vs sunderland at home who chelsea beat 7-1 last season. Lampard should be back and malouda wont be playing a central role. what kinda idiot are u to suggest he wud be? he'l play on the left upfront of a 3 with either anelka or kalou on the right. its morons like u that make this site, untrustworthy to get tips and hints from.

I never thought I'd say this... but I reckon you're right here RBJ.

In fact... I've just taken out Drogba for Tevez, so convinced am I.

Too much dead weight in ALL of our teams at the moment - Drogba, Arteta, Nani, Malouda, Berbatov, Bale, Alex... and we're all too scared to get rid whilst the 2 points roll in every week.

I need some advice. I am getting low scores at the moment, but don't know why.

    My team is:

    Schwarzer Carson
    Alex Konchesky Dann Coleman Jones
    Fabregas Malouda VDV Arteta Adam
    Drogba Dembele Carroll

What suggestions do people have for this week? I think Alex is an obvious choice to get rid of, but for who?

    /Carson

    /Mummy Konchesky Jones

    /Malouda Adam Fabregas Bale

    /Torres Drogba Carrol

    /Subs: Foster, N’Zog, Dann, Enrique

Correct players on the bench? – tough call between N’Zog, Adam and Bale this week

And the ultimate question – who to captain?

Why get rid of O'Shea when both Rafel and Evra are out injured? Have you seen United's next 4 fixtures. 2-3 clean sheets there and probably 2-3 starts for O'Shea too.

I would have gotten rid of him any of the past 3-4 weeks leading up to now as his price was falling and he was rarely being used, but certainly NOT now.

Generally, I'd say get rid - but this week - with Rafael and Evra out, surely you have other more pressing issues in the team as barring injury O'Shea should start.

Brown came on for Rafael instead of O'Shea in the derby, so you have to imagine he's currently top of the list.

Was a bit confusing really. When Rafa took a knock in the first half, O'Shea warmed up. When he said he couldn't continue second half, Brown came on.

Think O'Shea has the nod over Brown though. If both Evra and Rafa are out then not a problem this week.

I'd hang onto him. AV, Wigan, Blackpool and Blackburn next 4. Imagine if he starts 3-of-4 of those...

At 5.4M worth it, in my opinion.

Here we go again...Alex is out, Coleman and Mummy are not certain starters and Jara still suspended. So Williamson is my only certain starter in defense.

    So Alex out for...
    1) Kolarov
    2) Ivanovic
    3) ACole

I have the exact opposite problem up front, and I have to bench one from the following 8 who have form or great fixtures...
    A)Nani
    B)Bale
    C)Fabregas
    D)Malouda
    E)NZogbia
    F)Drogba
    G)Carroll
    H)Piquionne

Ladies and gentlemen...a number and a letter please!!!

    A) Alex -> Rio
    B) Alex -> Toure
    C) Alex -> Terry & Bale to N'Zog 4pt hit

Leaning towards A atm but not sure I trust rio to stay fit...

Malouda out of form, Drogba no-where near fit, Ramires USELESS and Mikel of no influence going forward whatsoever... Chelsea are severely lacking at the moment.

They may well win by 1 or 2, but no more...

Malouda out of form? I sometimes wonder what games people watch. The fact nobody puts away his pinpoint crosses makes them out of form not him.

Out of FPL form... I don't care how well he plays if he doesn't get the points.

          It's called Bale Syndrome.

yeah, that's fine mate. Erm another couple of options include the City boys in Toure/Boateng. I know i'm contemplating Boateng as my replacement for Alex. Lovely run of fixtures with CS potential in there. I'll decidee later tonight. 🙂

If you have Hart in goal then you could go with Zhirkov as you're covered at the back. I don't have Hart in goal so I may opt to capatalise on that and hope for CSs from City.
