Jamie Carragher’s 450th Premier League appearance was definitely one to forget last Sunday, with the centre-half suffering a dislocated shoulder in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham. His replacement Sotirios Kyrgiakos may have been on the end of a rollicking from Carragher for being slow to get warmed up to replace him, but with the Liverpool vice-captain now reportedly sidelined for up to three months and a long-lasting calf injury still keeping Daniel Agger out of the running, you can be sure that the big Greek will be ready and raring to go in this unexpectedly prolonged run at the heart of Roy Hodgson’s defence.

It is the Reds favourable upcoming fixtures (AVL, new, FUL, blp, WOL, BOL) that make Kyrgiakos such a particularly alluring prospect. After a torrid start to the season Liverpool have finally -albeit at a stuttering rate- started to climb the Premier League table and Hodgson must surely see a promising pre-2011 run as the perfect opportunity to get their season back on course and draw a line through what has been a problematic year for the Anfield men.

At a colossal 6ft 4in, Kyrgiakos is always an aerial threat and has scored two goals in just six games so far this season, finding the net in both his Anfield league appearances. With the club still awaiting Fernando Torres’ bravura performance, Joe Cole having a frustrating period with form and niggling injuries and Steven Gerrard temporarily sidelined, they will rely on the lofty Greek to be a menace in the box at every given set piece.

Priced at just £5.1 million on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Kyrgiakos could be the ideal bargain defender to allow you to spend your budget on a big money move in midfield or attack. Also something of a Bonus Points magnet, he’s been awarded the maximum three points on two out of his five full appearances, which -considering the current lack of clean sheets knocking about- perhaps gives him the nod over similarly-priced team mates Paul Konchesky and Martin Skrtel for anyone considering Liverpool defensive cover.

His Fantasy ownership, a mere 1.1%, only adds to Kyrgiakos’ appeal, suggesting he could well just turn out to be the perfect “differential” over the next few Gameweeks as the season heats up for the Christmas period.

I see Ashley Young is now suspended after receiving his 5th yellow.
Fabregas and Tevez are on 4 (i think)
No idea about any other players

Bring back the suspension tightrope!!! we never had it so good..

You'd imagine Arsenal and Tottenham will miss gameweek 28 now, with either Chelsea and Birmingham or Liverpool and West ham joining them.

    Decent double week teams there.

Who to bench out of Barton and Elmander?
And i have to play eiter Elmo or Coleman this week, so which one of them you think will not play at all this week? Then i can get for example Elmander in as a sub..

You have 3 Newcastle players so I'd bench Barton.

I assume your 1 transfer this week was to remove Van der Vaart? Who did you get in his place?

No, my free transfer this week was Drogba -> Rooney, made it right after the match, fed up with Drogs and his malaria :p
Guess Drogs scores a hattrick this weekend just to piss me off, haha

Was thinking about doing VdV -> Pedersen for a 4 point hit as Blackburn has a very tasty fixture.

You're going to struggle to field a defense with that lot.

Elmo out first imo. He's dropping fast, get Kyrgiakos or Konchesky or Samba in.

Don't we know it but he's way more likely to grab goals than MGP.
Perhaps I'll just stick Samba in defence for Bburns good run of games and forget about their mids.

          Me to.

Fixtures point to Blackburn ,MGP has never been prolific and is he really going to keep scoring , tht boat may have sailed.

Dunn playing off striker , should be on Pens . Will he play every game through injury and/or form though ....

Struggling to find better midfielders for December games.

            I have Nani,Kuyt,adam,fab,vdv .

Cant hold 2 injured players so VDV is going to have to go if this 5/6 week things is confirmed .

Nasri,Young better than Blackburn boys but fxtures are tougher.
Still were all in same boat

Liverpool away anyway this week if it comes into play.

WBA , wigan , SPURS could be short term points.

Although I dont think Young is as good as he does !

Lads, play Cahill (city) or Foley (rovers)?

Cahill due a goal I feel, higher value and City are not big scorers at home (No goals last 3). Foley could play midfield again though and goal in last two full appearances.. Thoughts?

Btw ever see the documentary on how the Beeb and other stations have stopped showing the fighting that goes on between the gangs now outside the stations.

Friend was over in OT a year ago with his kids. Walking down neighbourhood and was chased (with his kid) by a gang along the street. He said he was very lucky to get to a large police presence.

He has been over alot in last few years and says its as bad as it has ever been.

People on here today were saying England should get the world cup cos all russian fans were racist and England fans werent and that russia would be more dangerous riots etc.

Im saying no country is a saint. And its naive and stupid to say X should get the world cup cos there is no racism and riots here.

Tonight shows up this. But its not anti english every country has these problems. People on here today seemed to think england didnt...

Im messing and showing up the hypocrisy of some peoples views

Mainly that this nation or that nation should not get the world cup because of fighting . racism etc.

When England has those exact same problems.

Every country in the world has these problems and people were saying Russia shouldnt get it tonight because of racism and fighting.

Some more than bloody others though. England has worked hard to eliminate football hooliganism and fair enough you get dickheads like the Brum fans tonight now and again but it has become the exception rather than the rule.

To greater or lesser degrees though. Compare England now with the 1980's (where Russia still is), they have done a cracking job. Besides we have great stadiums, good transport network, normal policemen who wont put Polonium in your spag bol etc etc etc. And for f*cks sake if NOTHING else we invented the game - we haven't held a tournament since 1966, we are bloody well due one.

The scale of racism is a lot larger in Russia than it is here though.

Do you get teams here who wouldn't accpet black players at their clubs? no.

Th racism issue in Russia is a valid point because it's so much stronger there.

By your logic they could hold the World Cup in North Korea and it'd all be fine and dandy because every country has it's problems.

Try using hardline pro with sam turret, care package and sentry gun. It's a massive flaw, you get 3 out of 4 attempts (assuming you definitely re-roll the turrent and sentry) at care packages for just 5 kills, it's soo easy.

I agree completly it is far worse in Russia.

But what England should get it over whoeve cos its less Racist and has less crowd trouble.

I'm not talking about England, I've never said that England should get the World Cup, because I don't know much about the bids from Spain or Holland. They could just be better bids for all I know.

But should Russia get it? no f*cking way. Spain has racism problems too, but it's nowhere near the level of Russia.

But out of curiosty why not Russia? And if its because of rioting fans and hooligans then England has a huge problem in this regard also.

I think Holland should get it cos they have a huge football history and have never ever had the world cup.

BTW I've travelled a lot around the world and England is just about the most tolerant country there is, a far cry from eastern europe which suffers from rampant racism and hooliganism
I'm horrified that the next euros are in Poland and Ukraine, there is going to be so much trouble it would be better if England fail to qualify.

True. It's snowing here and there could even be games called off. It would be very unfair to judge the Antarctic bid on the weather when we have exactly the same problems here in England.

        Opinions needed people:

        In my defence I have:

        Williamson, Evra, Cashley, Baptiste, Jagielka

Williamson is banned for another 2 weeks
Baptiste is doubtful, and blackpool have Utd (if it happens)
And Chelsea have Everton this week

Is it worth a 4 point hit to get rid of Jagielka?

I will have 6.1 to spend - thinking of getting Kolarov as City have some favourable fixtures... thoughts?

Hmmm same dilemma, but I have the risks that are Elmo and Coleman as my spares. Need to take a hit too, but not sure if its worth it since both my two would probably get 1 point minimum, so that's like 5 points without the hit.

tricky...It maybe better for you to lose Williamson, since Taylor is back now and Sol played well the other day too.

Maybe Williamson to Samba/Jones or Kolarov if you can spare the cash?

I was thinking similar, however chances of city keeping a cleansheet are greater than blackburn, so the 4 point hit wouldnt be a hit provided Kolarov starts and City dont conceed, then next week can work on getting rid of suspended/ injured players all over again...?

MGP for me at the moment.

Brunt is on a suspension tightrope, Etherington's fixtures aren't great, and Arshavin would be doubling on Arsenal and is inconsistent.

Bale is such an obvious pick, and considering we get a wildcard in January, his fixtures running up to then don't scream points.

        Transfer time!

A few days ago, I nearly knee jerked an 8 point hit.

Man am I glad I didn't do that.

        Current plans:

        Coleman > Kolarov
        Van Der Vaart > MGP

(Did you know that Rovers have only failed to score twice in all of their matches so far? One was a 0-0 draw after Samba was sent off in the first half too.)

            Nope.

Neither are going up or down soon.

I'm definitely making that transfer unless Kolarov gets injured.

Think I'm going to do one now. Coleman > Kolarov.

Kolarov got through the City game unscathed, and bar a freak training ground injury (touch wood), he should be fine for this weekend.

                  ha, interesting!!

i decided to do the vdv to nasri transfer now and wait on the other 1, only as nasri looks like he will rise soon!

im sure these moves will work brilliantly for us tho!

Just had a look and can't find it, maybe they have stopped the betting. I got England at 2/1 and USA at 7/4, Russia were favourites for 2018, I think Qatar were faves for 2022 but I'm not sure.

Not sure but I think they were both quite long odds. It could still be there but it seems to have disappeared when I searched for it on P.Power website.

Right i'm to do a rare points hit this week as Vdv is injured and I'm so fed up with Elmo.

Kolarov & Kuyt in for Elmo & Vdv

        Thoughts?

Kolarov didn't get a game tonight so a safe bet for the Prem games I should think..
I'm sure gonna get Balotelli up front soon though. He could be the man to turn this season around.

Lads, play Cahill (city) or Foley (rovers)?

Cahill due a goal I feel, higher value and City are not big scorers at home (No goals last 3). Foley could play midfield again though and goal in last two full appearances... Thoughts?

Why would a def be 'due' a goal? However I would rather play nobody than a Wolves def. (don't care if he has scored recently)

yup four weeks, but "how will he do"

i think he could be a raging success and come back to arsenal in a storm!

hoepfully fabs gets another injury and he slots right in!!!

also wat about RVP playing central mid during the carling cup, i sign of things to come?

I think it was just Wenger trying to keep Bendtner and Vela happy, while still handing minutes to Van Persie.
