Our Watchlist player rankings have once again been updated for the coming Gameweek, offering you a view on our current thinking when it comes to mid-term player selection.

It’s a steady week with the top positions all holding firm across the board, with contrasting fortunes for Man City’s assets as Aleksandar Kolarov, Yaya Toure and David Silva enjoy high placings, while Carlos Tevez drifts in limbo, out of our current thinking. Tim Cahill is another of our previously high ranking players suffering this week – he drops out with the Asian Cup in January depriving us of his talents beyond the next couple of Gameweeks…

The top three in the Goalkeeper’s rankings hold firm as fixtures continue to fall in favour of Joe Hart, Paul Robinson and Pepe Reina. A host of new entries threaten their position, with Wigan’s Ali Al Habsi the highest of the bunch off the back of his impressive shut-out at Goodison and good fixtures to come; his price point also gives him the edge over rivals Heurelho Gomes, Robert Green and Scott Carson. The big two – Edwin Van der Sar and Petr Cech suffer drops are sandwiched in that pack, along with long-term favourite Ben Foster who faces a stiff run of opposition in the coming weeks – although he does have three home encounters in the next four to provide some comfort for his owners.

The Defender rankings also remain stable at the top with Liverpool’s Sotirios Kyrgiakos holding his position with kind home opponents and a significant goal threat. City’s Aleksandar Kolarov comes straight back into our top five following his one-match suspension – he too benefits from obliging opponents in the forthcoming Gameweeks. Leighton Baines, Chris Samba and the value presented by United’s Rafael, complete our current top five.

A second Liverpool defender presents a big money gamble – Glen Johnson doesn’t carry the set-piece threat of team-mate Kyrgiakos, but will likely be key attacking threat down the right over Liverpool’s three Anfield clashes in the next four. Like Kyrgiakos, he could well have a goal or two in him, but with assists thrown in.

Wigan’s Antolin Alcaraz, Tottenham’s Alan Hutton and West Brom’s Gonzalo Jara offer value further down the rankings with climbs and new entries this week. All three have promising runs of opponents to come, with some attacking potential on offer.

The Midfield to five stays intact, with the exception of Everton’s Tim Cahill who drops out of mid-term reckoning with the Asian Cup tournament in January, giving him just two more matches to come in the forthcoming month or so.

Nani continues to lead the way with some level of consistency in his scoring these days. City’s pairing of Yaya Toure and David Silva both rank highly below him. Toure is a new entry off the back of his goal/assist/Bonus return in the win over West Ham, which, with an FPL price tag of just 5.2, gives him the edge of team-mate Silva. The Spaniard simmers below the top five following his assist at Upton Park; both enjoy a kind run of opponents over the next six. Charles N’Zogbia’s fixtures also appear to give him a platform for his usual stream of steady returns with Bonus Points thrown in – he is another climber this week.

A host of new entries follow, as the likes of Frank Lampard and Cesc Fabregas all come back into our thinking following injury. Expect climbs for them next week once we see them established back in first team action this weekend. Steven Gerrard and Rafael Van der Vaart are still very much injury doubts – they could make an appearance later this week when we have more news on their progress prior to the weekend.

Up front, Fernando Torres holds the top spot, despite failing to ignite at St James’ Park. The three Anfield matches in the next four should give him the potential to return and is enough to hold off a significant charge from Darren Bent, who also has a strong run of opponents to aid his points tally.

Jermain Defoe and Wayne Rooney occupy their highest positions of the season, kept in fourth and fifth by Andy Carroll’s consistency. Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega offers value, along with West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie – only an injury doubt prevents him from pushing on further up the rankings. The Bolton pairing of Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies suffer big drops – they will face Sunderland, Liverpool and Chelsea in the next four Gameweeks – that’s three of the current top five defences, all away from home.

Carlos Tevez remains out of our current rankings while we wait more news from Eastlands on his situation. Expect him to rank very highly if we get confirmation of his availability for the Everton clash on Monday. The Watchlist will be updated once we know more on him later this week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I would love some transfer advice. Current team:

    Foster (Carson)

    Konch Samba Kolarov (Coleman, Huth)

    Malouda Nasri MGP Nani (Barton)

    Drogba Elmander Carroll

Too much Chelsea I reckon. Thinking of one of the following:

    1. Malouda - Brunt/N'Zog
    2. Drogba - Torres
    3. Drogba - Tevez (risky but I still think he could play in their nice upcoming run of fixtures).

Which is best? Or any other suggestions?

    Cheers

I'd keep Drogba, he's bound to score against United or Arsenal.

Malouda out for a cheaper option like Nzogbia. Get rid of Elmander eventually for a top striker. It looks really good for the rest.

Also considering Silva/Yaya as a replacement for Malouda, considering I don't have Tevez?

Out of those I'd say 2, although I'm keeping Drogs. Getting Tevez could be great, but is way too risky with the current discussions. I'm not sure if Mancini will field him at home in front of a pissed crowd.

She is not that pretty is she that blonde that Tevez has his arm around in the daily star. His taste in woman is not great for a footballer earning so much. Surely he could pull something better than that so much for missing his family already been said maybe but still wooooo eh woooo eh what a little Argie he really is!

Guys, do ye think its a stupid idea to bring in odemwingie this weekend, even if he is still a doubt. I need the cash to bring vdv and lamps in for gw 20, and if he doesnt play ill have etherington coming on which is not too bad against arsenals defence. Thoughts?

I almost got Odemwingie many weeks ago even though he was doubtful a I figured I definitely wanted him for the weeks after even if he didn't make that match. Turned out he's been a doubt almost every weeks since then and missed a few so glad I didn't. In short, don't do it.

It would be fun to watch him but Blackburn seem relegation bound whatever happens with the vankers group. Too bad the Blackburn fans deserve better than this bunch of comic owners. Allardyce saved them from relegation and they are heading for disaster unless they get a good manager and spend some cash on players.

best you can hope for is 12 points really, and it only take one lapse in concentration from the defense to make that 4 points. Surely you have some attackers with a nice fixture and a good chance of better than 12 point return as captain?

Possibly the first GW of the season where I really can't see a transfer being obvious. What do you think?

    Foster (Krul)
    Vidic Kolarov Alcaraz
    Nani Malouda MGP NZogbia
    Carroll Torres(c) Drogba

Subs: Simpson Coleman Adam (Bank 1.0m)

The only transfers I've considered would be Yaya in, but if he replaced Adam, it would probs mean subbing NZog(at home to Villa) or Malouda > Toure with City 3 home games in next 4 allowing Lampard in for GW20 a possibility.

Even with Lampard in the team I think the best value you can get out of the Chelsea midfield is Malouda. Lampard seems to sit pretty deep in the new set-up and Malouda should be out wide attacking in no time...

I would be getting rid of Krul sharpish if I were you, they are just not getting clean sheets and he doesn't get that many save points. I did Krul OUT Begovic IN last week as my freebie, in a week where I was happy with team.

Other than that I agree that there isn't a transfer I could see that would improve an otherwise excellent team. Adam OUT Toure IN is a good move also, Toure is in a good run of form, not sure if he will be picking up assists and goals every game though, and it might be a bit late on that move. I took Adam OUT 2 weeks ago, of course he scored well this past week, but in general, despite being on pens, that was his first assist or goal in open play in over 10 games. I think his time is up to be honest, but I am sure there will be many who will disagree.

With the congested Christmas schedule, it sounds like shuffling the pack will almost certainly be needed. We might have to use up valuable transfers, just to get 11 players out on the pitch.

I've still got my wildcard to play. But I'm thinking of zero transfers this week. Just "let it ride" and go into Christmas with 2 free transfers.

It was a realistic assessment. The return of Frank Lampard has helped morale but Michael Essien - who could face an FA probe and three match ban for a truly awful foul on Gareth Bale - is still a poor imitation of himself, Drogba is still on his way back, Nicolas Anelka has scored one league goal since August 21 and Florent Malouda is now eight games since his last league goal.

Balotelli gets a lot of criticism, but this is an excellent interview praising the work that's been done in this country to help overcome racism at football.

So, he's not travelling for the Europa Cup fixture, so he can avoid some boo boys in the Juve crowd?
Better to slot a few goals past 'em, I would think.

I would imagine it's not a pleasant experience, more than 'a few boo boys'. They don't need to put someone through that, so it's fair enough in my view.

Got one tranfie to do this week. I feel I could use some strict suggestions.

    Robbo (Krul)
    ACole, Kolarov, Konch, Coleman, Jara
    Nasri, Nani, Bale, Adam, Barton
    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

    and 3,9 in the bank

Hold your transfer, no need this week, I would say VDV is more essential than Bale at this point, but with that game in jeoprody and VDV's fitness, I would say play:

      Robbo
      Cole/Kolorov/Konchesky/Jara
      Nasri/Bale/Nani
      Drogba/Tevez/Carroll

I held my transfer last week, so I can permit myself a wee bee luxury tranfie this week.

Sure you wont have a go?

Nasri OUT Cesc IN, is indeed interesting. Although I'm thinking rotating Cesc IN for Adam, and then shift Nasri OUT for a BruntZogbiRington issue. Two Gunners at home vs Stoke? Ouff.. *cringe*

you might get away with still having Elmo, their defence is getting battered by injuries at the moment. With that in mind, you can field a handy side for the weekend, would be worried about your defence though, see possible clean sheets from Cahill and Elmo (if he plays) but other than that low scoring enough, I would play Elmo/Cahill/Cole and play 3-5-3 after that

Yeah, i am a bit worried about my defence, was thinking about getting in Kolarov or maybe a Liverpool defender as they have very good fixtures coming up. But should i make the transfer this week or save the transfer? Which defender would you get rid off for example Kolarov?

Do you think Enrique could get a clean sheet this week?

Birmingham hardly bang the goals in, and this could very well be a 0-0 until Carroll (who else?!) breaks the deadlock. He has a good shot I suppose, and is an attacking player, so not bad.

If you need improvements one week there is no point holding off on a move just to say you have 2 the following week. I think your team is okay for this week, City and Everton could well be very tight, and it could easily be 0-0 there aswell, so Coleman could do a job.

I suppose my point is, is that if you have 11-12 players to choose from, that you think will get you good points, I would hold the transfer, if there is an area you could improve, and the person you are bringing in has a good fixture, go for it.

Elmander is on my OUT list for my team but I will wait until after West Brom next week, no transfer jumps out at me for your team, so I would say hold off.

You have made this week alot easier for me, thanks!

I think I will save the transfer, at least wait until Saturday morning to decide.

After West Brom i will get rid of Elmander also, think he can get a goal or at least some good points against them.

I am wondering about playing Barton this week also, but who should I bench? N'Zog against Villa or maybe Elmander, or should I just keep Barton on the bench?

My defence this week will probably be Cole,Enrique and Elmo with Cahill as first sub.

            Foster / Al-Habsi
            Konchesky / Simpson / Dann / Tamas / Coleman
            Malouda / Bale / Nasri / Nani / Cahill
            Torres / Tevez / Carroll

I love my midfield but i want to get in either Yaya or Brunt.

            1) Malouda - Yaya / Brunt
            2) Cahill - Yaya / Brunt

This will leave me enough to possibly bring in either Lamps or Fab for Nasri in the future?

Cahill has 3 more games until he goes to "that Asian Cup" (as Fergie put it the other night). Malouda OUT should be more of a priotiry, Cahill has another few weeks and is crucial to Everton in an attacking capacity. Malouda and Chelsea have been on the wane, Lampard will improve them, and take something further from Malouda, but Brunt is on 4 yellows and will serve a suspension soon, so I wouldn't bother with him until he does. Also, I wouldn't bring in YaYa unless he is someone you want medium term, not the easiest game this weekend against Everton if it is just for a few weeks.

Yea I'd hold on to Cahill for a few more weeks, he's gone after the West Ham game for me. He scored earlier in the season against Brummies and has a good record against WHam. Getting rid of Malouda could be a good shout, but I'd also look into upgrading one out of Tamas/Simpson as it would give you more wiggle room in your defense.

Drogba may score another offside goal against United again this year so not to worry. Bent will play, that was just "Head like a Cucumber" Quinn piping up with his 10 cents, and Tevez I think will play, he is not involved with Europa because they probably planned on not having him anyway.

Yea stocking up on transfers is not a bad idea if you have a decent team this week.

I'd only do the Lee to Yaya one if I were you Warky. Maybe you could look at transfering out Knight for a BBurn defender. I'm playing Foster in all the games until second wilcard myself.

            Tevez Torres

            Piq, Salcido, Adam

            3.0m in the bank

At first glance it looks like the best move would be to save a transfer this week, but I'd like to get rid of Piquionne. Anyone else thinking Rodallega might be a good differential? Ok fixtures, is on pens and always good for some BPs..
I could also get rid of Adam for N'Zogbia and bench Cahill this week? Any advice appreciated.

I have similar dilemma this week, to hold off on moves or get shot of Piquionne, who is done for me, at least I got 1 good week from him.

I have N'Zogbia, and I am always nervous about him, just don't know what to expect (bar 3 BP's most of the time!), and the same can be said for Rodallega, great player imo but Wigan are just such a schizophrenic team.

Where he is going to go anyway, I would be tempted to do it this week and bring in Gyan or Carroll, but where you have a strong side, maybe holding off isn't fatal either

I was planning on skipping a transfer this week so I could have two every week trough the XMas period just in case. Easier said than done though 😛 The jury is still out on Gyan for me, he seems to have some niggles every week and that's not good considering the games come thick and thin this month.

was in a club only the other week and one of my buddies is a real joker, so he went up dancing with this trannie, chatting it up, as a real joke (we thought)

HE HAD NO IDEA that the most obvious trannie in the world was not a lady, he nearly threw up, he looked back over at it and his face just fell!! he realised straight away, HILARIOUS

He even said, it kept asking, are you sure about this, and he kept answering, of course i am!

Katie gave me grief for suggesting she was he a few nights ago. Just because the email address is a man's name, doesn't mean she is.. durrrrr. 😕

I didn't even go into Goldilocks or the 'my dads favourite picture' shenanigans. Let the pour confused soul live out it's fantasy i say.

He/She certainly is bloody good at FPL mind.

My friends one, someone got knocked out and 5 people resigned!

I went to a Capcom one in London, and it was amazing. But my work one is not that good, and you only get one free drink. Capcom I got about 14 and it was still going strong when I left

I think it was someone messing around, and then half-accident half-aggressive move by someone else. Hard to explain, but they thought he was taking the mic when he was actually unconcious.

And Johnny, yeah, the big deal was Marvel Vs Capcom 3, they had about 32 Xboxes set up for 2 player games.

hold steady, your transfer will be more important next week,

if you have the funds nasri - fabs will be sweet, etherington to VDV would be nice or elmader to torres

but because of fitness and fixtures , not this week

if you must do one this week,

maybe adam to brunt, but brunt is on 4 yellows so be careful!

              Team for this week:

              Foster
              Bardsley/Simpson/Vidic
              Nani/Nasri/VDV(C)/Dunn/N'Zogbia
              Elmander/Rooney

              Subs: Piquionne/Jagielka/Boateng

6.9 in bank and keeping my freebie I think. Was set on Piquionne OUT this week, but I really don't fancy anyone, Gyan/RVP maybe, but both are doubtful to start or get full games, so might wait until next week when picture will be clearer, yay or nay? cheers

I was all set for Torres this week, but Piquionne OUT Torres IN, then when I was .1 short I was forced to re-think, unless he bags a few in the Europa League, I am still not convinced he is in the form to get a good score though.

Elmander has drawn blanks in the last 3, he has 2 more games for me, and then out regardless. It's no more of a gamble than playing Elmander and hoping for him to score where it's a freebie though, am waiting for RVP to get starts instead for me though.

My thinking on Torres too...Itll be him in unless something happens..

RVP not in the frame yet-not starting and not looking strong or sharp from what Ive seen. Chamakh yellows may force it but we'll see..if he hits it, Drogs may go for him...Ive no value left to loose!

At a loss of what to do with these next few gameweeks coming up! So many options to chose from. The season ticker now looks like most teams have easy games ahead of them, quite deceptively so. And I still think the likes of Cahill have plenty to give despite having only THREE games left. Four if he doesn't leave on Jan 1st.
