A heavyweight forward line of pricey strikers is all the rage these days in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) universe. With previously in vogue, cheaper, options such as Andy Carroll and Johan Elmander suffering with injury and form respectively and the titans of the league firing on all cylinders, Fantasy Managers are looking for ways to accommodate three of the following luxurious big guns into their teams: Robin Van Persie (9.8), Carlos Tevez (11.5), Dimitar Berbatov (9.6) and Fernando Torres (11.9).

One obvious solution to this dilemma is to look for cheaper midfield options that still have plenty of points scoring potential. This would most likely mean that Fantasy Managers will have to drop a midfielder but, with Samir Nasri and Rafael Van der Vaart both having a barren couple of FPL points-scoring weeks, letting somebody go shouldn’t prove to be too much of a heartbreaker.

With an FPL valuation of 5.6 and a proven ability to supply assists, West Brom’s Chris Brunt fits this economically practical role like a glove. A quick look at his current Opta Stats, which are available in the Members Area, show that in the last 4 Gameweeks where he has made just 4 appearances Brunt has provided 17 Key Passes, the most in the Premier League. He certainly has the talent to find that killer pass too as he has been awarded 10 FPL assists this season, assisting over a third of the Baggies 29 goals.

Although only finding the back of the net on two occasions so far this season Brunt is not afraid to have a pop at goal and, again looking over the last 4 Gameweeks, he has managed 10 attempts. He is also West Brom’s principle direct free kick and corner taker, providing extra goal and assist potential. Brunt has scored 87 FPL points this season, second to just Charlie Adam and Yaya Toure in his price-bracket and he holds a much lower ownership of 4.1% compared with his Blackpool and Manchester City counterparts, who are owned by 23.7% and 14.8% of teams respectively.

Reflecting on their 2-0 defeat to Blackburn last Sunday, Brunt, who is standing in as captain for the dropped Scott Carson, warned of a repeat of their last Premier League relegation:

“It’s sounding like two years ago all over again. We shot ourselves in the foot just before half-time and that’s a poor time to concede goals.”

But with just Manchester City away proving to be the only eyesore in an otherwise attractive run of fixtures (WIG, mcy, WHM & WOL, stk, bir) which includies two homes clashes in a standout double Gameweek, West Brom look like they could be on course to change their luck which has seen them win just once in their last seven Premier League games, and Chris ‘the Magician’ Brunt will certainly be amongst much of their attacking play.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Andy Townsend is one smart guy.

The other commentator says "Fergie has done it again, he's made changes and they've worked".

Andy Townsend "He didn't do it with the team he started with though"

    Yeah no sh*t.

Gibson has never been upto the standard required, so ponderous in both his movement and thinking. Oberton is shocking, few weeks back Vs West Brom he was a joke. Anderson has loads more ability and definitely worth persevering with, the other 2 need to be shipped out asap.

I've been quiet on him since he arrived but I have to say he looks like a great prospect. I'm always a bit worried about players that rely so heavily on pace to get to their chances but it looks to me like he has the intelligence to obtain other qualities when his pace fades.

This begs the obvious why start Rooney over Chico now in proper games?
No way wayne can justify keeping him out of the line up now on form

Chico nd Berba v Villa. Although that may not be the best fantasy wise for me if Berba becomes more the creator.

Still though Chico is in far better form.

OK, there was a stage where he'd scored a load of goals and not 1 assist. Actually of course I remember his assist in the last game of the season.
It would be absolutely mental to drop Rooney because he hasn't scored many goals. Hernandez has proved he is an impact player but some of the games I watched at the start of the season when he started he barely got in the game. He looks a real good player now though. Faulkner you are a mug.

The effort is there and i'm not saying he's been useless. But he's not got close to the kind of performances he was putting in week in, week out last year.

I think from the amount of frustration he shows on the pitch he knows it too.

It wasnt one bad game and you well know it.

Its been about 30 bad games in 50 now. And he has only been on top form in about 5.

His form is pretty shocking overall. And now there is real justification to bench him.

As ive said before. Should have sold him. Prob gona win the title without him this year practically.

Which when you consider the money he is on is outrageous

yes yes i got your photo

difference is, we won't cope as well without torres as utd would without rooney!

and there is no way torres will go before the deadline

the summer i'm not so sure about

hopefully they'll keep improving and his partnership with suarez will blossom and tempt fernando to stay put

maybe - just think that Fulham being at home edges it. I would expect West Brom to score.

Dont think you will go far wrong captaining any 1 of your front 3.

its all their young players coming good
      hummels and subotic
      sahin is absolute quality
many are suggesting gotze is the next german star

and they did sign kagawa, but hes doing so well, he wont last long, already rumoured to have caught the eye of the big clubs! (17 appearences 8 goals)

i think gotze is the one with real potential,

sahin looks great but when supported by hummels an co, its understandable why...

GW 27 double fixtures are in caps . . .

    FOSTER gordon
    rafeal coleman DJOURNOU WILKINSON SIMPSON
    FABREGAS nani VDV BRUNT BARTON
