This evening Birmingham City have confirmed a new date for their trip to Stamford Bridge, a fixture postponed due to their involvement in the weekend’s Carling Cup Final.

The match will take place on April 20, tacking itself onto the end of gameweek 33.

This gives a double fixture to both teams and means that Chelsea now have a rather appetising little run of games (WIG, wba/BIR, WHM) which will surely tempt Fantasy investment, if they can demonstrate some improved form.

It’s a spell that could well see Fantasy Managers snapping at the opportunity to get on the back of belated Didier Drogba or Frank Lampard bandwagons, or perhaps give new boys Fernando Torres or David Luiz a crack of the whip.

Birmingham meanwhile, see the re-arranged fixture drop alongside a home encounter with Sunderland, in a far more average run of opponents (bla, SUN/che, liv). That spell might not exactly scream renewed investment but, as Alex McCleish’s men also have a double set of fixtures in gameweek 29, we may see many Fantasy managers sit tight on their investments to take them into this additional double.

The slight caveat here is that if Birmingham can beat Bolton in the Quarter-Finals of the FA Cup in a couple of weeks time, then their game with Sunderland will be postponed to an as of yet unknown later gameweek to allow for another trip to Wembley for the Semi-Finals. That may see them slip back to just the unappealing trip to Chelsea.

As we well know, Chelsea themselves no longer have this issue after being knocked out by Everton so, bar some freak weather (or such like), they will definitely have two fixtures.

Our Season Tickers will be updated shortly to reflect today’s announcement.

It really is a bit of mystery how Grant is competent* in the cups, but then so hopeless in the league.

was genuinely considering Hitzlsperger after today's performance. West ham do actually have a relatively decent squad, they have good midfielders and a rather large strikeforce, its a shame their defence is awful. then i saw their fixtures; west ham have pretty awful fixtures from now up to GW36... maybe straight swap for Brunt to save some money, but otherwise i'll probably stay clear

heart missed a beat when I just read about VDV missing Blackpool, thats really annoying, I spent 2 hours weighing up pros & cons of benching one of VDV, Tevez & Nani and thought had made great decision benching Tevez. All you Nani subbers may rejoice at your fortune, squad game I guess.

I said that Malouda would outscore Lampard for the first 5 games last August. Made a big snazzy comment giving my reasons. Got ridiculed, mainly from Dbronaldo. It was about 2 in the morning on a weekday and I was unemployed.. good times. 🙂

If he sees this, Dbronaldo is going to categorically deny this. He thinks that he single-handedly started the Malouda bandwagon at the beginning of the season.

When in fact it was me who started it, as soon as the game opened and we saw that Malouda was 3.5 million cheaper than El Fatso. 😛

                ish....

I had Malouda and Drogba from the start, and then got Alex pretty soon after that. I remember setting my team up with 4.0 million spare to afford either Boselli > RVP, or Arteta > Fabregas, but f*cking Boselli went down in price after about a day so I couldn't afford RVP!

I genuinely did start the Perch bandwagon though, and I'm not particularly proud of it.

I remember posting the team from Newcastle's friendly with Rangers a week before the season, and Perch was in what was a full strength side at right back, so I told everyone all about it. So I duped a good few people into getting him in, only for me to get rid of him in my week 3 wildcard. 😉

I properly think that Dog still has him. 😆

Bleugh. The comments from that day are now closed, so there is no evidence of my Perch stitch-up*.

*Not that it actually was a stitch-up... I genuinely thought that Perch (and then Jose Enrique) would be a good idea. 😳

I think I was also partly responsible for the Boselli bandwagon, I remember being one of very few who had actually seen him play before he signed.

He had an absolute stormer for Estudiantes in the Libertadores, he and Veron tore it up bigtime.

Once we saw the fixtures, Malouda was in everyones team from day 1, the bandwagon had already set off.
Maybe DBronaldo was responsible for failed bandwagons, namely Petrov and Boselli.

Mark was even more responsible with his editorial control. Told him, would he listen, nooooooooo 🙂

Even had Ibracadibra on here saying what a superb player Petrov was for City. Nope he was inconsistent and injury prone, and that was the word coming from mates with Eastlands season tickets.

They also both tipped Hitzelberger, that one looks like it could get going right now.

          "got ridiculed mainly from Dbronaldo"

What planet and time was this? After the Community shield I as Jamsiep humorously pointed was telling anyone with ears of the merits of having A Cole, Malouda, Drogba for week 1. What with the fact the Chelsea played both Essien and Lampard in advances positions (a change from last years ending) . Malouda also having taken over from on set pieces and frees and being in excellent form. And the fact the A Cole bombing on meant he pushed inside as a forward. I may have got last minute jitters and got Lampard back with the wrong notion Carlo would put him back in the centre alone again and fearing a pen or 2 in a rout I went Lamp(c). Then for week 2 went back to Malouda cos of the above.

I dont what you were smoking but no it wasnt me saying this. In fact I predicted Malouda would be the top scoing midfielder this year the morning FFS did their pre seasons predictions.

And on the above Malouda stuff Jamsiep, AP, Dribbler should be able to back me up

Nonsense im afraid. But I get used of the "dbronaldo said this" on here from time to time when no such thing every occured. Its basically the equivalent of saying I was calling Rooney better than Messi in 6 months time.

It was the one call I can genuinely claim having made which worked out well. Boselli is another story 🙂 I remember talking about it (Malouda as fantasy gold and the he would outscore Lampard) and boring people endlessly that night. 🙂
I even remember Jamsiep agreeing about it and changing Alex to Cole pre season due to Cole basically playing left wing and Malouda as a tucked in support striker.

Afridi has a tendency to get a good start and then get out to a crazy shot due to a random rush of blood. He's done that alot this year.

Razzaq is more consistent, in big matches and got a wonderful odi century against South Africa a couple months back

Personally i think they should be the same as Afridi picks up as many wickets as razzaq and has a better economy rate.

Yeah, that's my thinking too. Economy rates seem to be important than they should in this game, so picking bowlers like Afridi and Ajmal - who usually don't go for too many - should (in theory) be the way forward.

I'm concerned that Arteta is not involved in Everton counter-attacks. He's playing more like a holding mid and spraying the ball around as opposed mking runs into the box and getting sneaky looks.

Sharon Stone was incredibly sheckshy in that. I always thought it was a brilliant idea for a film, but you can't beat a bit of cheesy Arnie 80's stuff. Running Man, Total Recall, Predator, Commando - all class. Twins wasn't though, that was shoite.

Relatively random and unsolicited thought of the day:

Anyone deliberately and maliciously spreading misinformation, false 'bandwagon' calls, and intentionally duplicitous advice is a tool of *galactic* proportions.

Yes, those who are vulnerable to such petty jedi mind tricks are partly responsible ...

But WUMmers are just sorry, sad, pathetic plonks.

    Really.

I offered Spector as a long-punt advice to someone here, right before he scored, as an OOP defender at basement prices ...

But that was presented as a longshot and was largely selected because I have a soft spot for any of the 6-8 Americans playing in the Prem 🙂

Not as bad as my advice to someone on here to get on Kieron Dyer as a short term punt. I felt rather guilty as he was predictably taken off injured 17 minutes into the game.

As I'm confident you know, 'Bad' is not = to 'Malicious'

For the good of the clueless unwashed masses looking for help, for the FFS site, and for one's personal karmic recompense ... I just think that that purposely giving false/misleading advice is the scummiest and least-funny things that a person could do.

There have been some posts that closely intimate that such things have been done before. I hope not. Not really.

i dont think anyone does it maliciously, they probably do it because it is funny. they do not realise that some of these people seeking help know nothing about football. for people who know nothing about football just going on the Pundit page or looking at the scout picks would be sufficient for them. BOOM BOOM POW.

guys and supposed girls (katie?) i'll give her the benefit of the doubt, vagina until proven otherwise etc etc 😉
i'm starting a new fantasy type game for the last 10 gameweeks of the season. http://applebonkers.wordpress.com/2011/02/19/forw...
let me know if you want to have a go at it. all you'd have to do is email me the names of 3 strikers each week and i'll do the rest for you. if for whatever obscure privacy reason you don't want to email you can reply to the post with your 3 picks when the list comes out each week. if i get 50 people playing i'll cap the league at that to keep it manageable.

maybe this is considered spamming? i've had a little blog for months now and never mentioned it once unless someone asked about it so this is a first for me.

    My GW1 team:
    Hahnemann
    A Cole - J Evans - Jags
    Malouda - Lampard (c) - Valencia - Arteta - MPetrov
    Boselli - Rodallega

Bench: Foster : Harewood - Perch - Jara

The dual Wigan strikeforce (home to Blackpool, field day...) was especially magic with 15 point Harewood stuck at front of my bench. I also remember being convinced that Valencia was going to massively outscore Rotation-risk Nani this season....

Yeah, its going to be poetic. All the people (well me) who picked Arteta over Cahill last time and got burned will finally receive justice. Sort of.

Check his "involvement on the tracker from the FA Cup match. He got one mention in 90min.....when the teams were announced.

        Baines > Arteta

But Everton are due a penalty!

I was too focused on Chelsea to really notice exactly where Arteta was playing on Saturday, but he was definitely more advanced than usual in the league game vs Bolton.

How many of Baines' assists this season have been for Cahill though? Do you not think his returns will decrease with Timmy injured?

Timmy isn't injured; he's f*cked. All that Asian Cup pish has knocked the shit out of him.

All this dodgy ankle nonesense is a smokescreen. A few days in bed and he'll be as right as rain.

Just watch my medium sized Aborigine friend slot one or two past Sunderland this weekend!

If Cahill is injured then my early Ferguson > Cahill will be up their as my worst move this year. Similar to buying Tevez for Chamack when tevez got 2 points and Chamack 2 goals. 😀

          (Tevez).

Everton seriously are due a penalty

Well maybe - Fabregas -> Arteta and Odem -> Rooney (c) is really tempting. It would be free too

                Fellaini?
1 goal, 2 assists and 5 BPs in his last 4 games

they really are. give arteta adam's 4 penalties and suddenly things look a lot different, especially as penalties often have magic a magic ability to get you 3baps as well

Arteta looks like he would score penalties all day but his assist potential annoys me... where have they all gone?

No strikers unless Saha is fit and then of course pretty much no players who are tricky enough to win pens.

                Pienaar and Yakubu are missed.

Letting Yakubu go on loan seemed mental to me.

Anyone for Fellaini? I suppose an impending dgw would give him twice the opportunities to get sent off though.
