Just the one fixture this evening as the Dugout Discussion opens and the gameweek winds down to a close before the long, dark and cold days of the dreaded FA Cup. Ian Holloway’s Blackpool and playing host to Carlo Ancelotti’s men this evening.

With his talismanic captain, as well as his lead striker, absent through suspension there is a whole host of changes from the “expected” Blackpool side – most notably a front three of loanees Jason Puncheon and James Beattie alongside Andy Reid. Chelsea, meanwhile, bring in Jose Bosingwa for Branislav Ivanovic as David Luiz shakes off a knock while Didier Drogba and Yuri Zhirkov come in for Florent Malouda and Nicolas. The line-ups in full are…

Blackpool XI: Kingson; Eardley, Evatt, Baptiste, Crainey; Vaughan, Carney, Southern; Puncheon, Reid, Beattie

Chelsea XI: Cech; Bosingwa, Luiz, Tery, Cole; Ramires, Lampard, Essien, Zhirkov; Drogba, Torres

The Dugout Discussion will take us through this fixture while we ponder if Fernando Torres can get his first shot on target in the league for Chelsea or if Andy Reid can put down that sandwich for just long enough to fill his captain’s boots with something other than gravy.

Hummm. Looking at my team with only Nani and Evra from Man U/Arsenal. I could really do with a draw in that game.

I have never had Lampard in my team and this is my second season now, pretty bad really. He always, always hurts me, I would of won my league last year but got Malouda instead.

me too, cant seem to justify the price tag for me.
If rivals start getting him in, i will too. Im just trying to hold a lead in mini league, so will try to cut out differentials.

Well if you had him right now to be fair, the price would be justified IMO. Last season Lampard was there for me, and hes back again.

I had Gerrard instead of him at the end of last season, and never got him even him after all those massive scores. Needless to say it bit me in the ass, (I went from 5,000 to finishing just inside the top 20,000) I think it's because I just don't like him at all.

Hoping for an FA Cup break in which. West Ham win. Man U and Arsenal Draw/Saha gets crocked. That way I can do Saha -> RVP that week if there isn't a draw in that game.

Nani to recover or hopefully not so the little runt can get out of my team.

Ideally. That is what I want.

So you are going for the

      Saha->RVP->Saha->RVP->Saha

At least you have your transfer policy set out until the end of the season.

They will on there with plenty of notice regarding time. Harder penalties for 1 & 2 hits & safety score + (4 x number of hits) as a minimum penalty which it should have been all along.

          Its tough, isn't it?

If Nani is out, I'm thinking I put VDV in this week, and then just ditch Ziggy for RVP, even though I was gonna use the spare cash to get Luiz in for Kelly. Now, due to fixtures, I may just get rid of Tevez for RVP, and then get Tevez back week 34. Problem is I'll be really nervous being without Tevez for 4 weeks.

It may just be that Rooney has to go, but I really do like his form as of late, despite United's struggles.

It all depends on health reports from Nani and Tevez.

+1 to most of that. With me Kelly is to go for Djourou if Arsenal have a game next GW. Would also be worried about a lack of Tevez! RVP may well get crocked again before the GW so its a wait and see.

yeah, same for me. Gotta wait until RVP is consistent, or its not worth being without Tevez.

I like your plan, but I HAVE Djourou...so its less options for me.

I've been called some awful things already tonight!

I'm calling it even though, I was in his position last year and went Young instead of Milner for a DGW. I won't forget those 4 points easily Ashley...

It genuinely does serve him right though. You should always just captain the player that you think will score the best that week, irrespective of what any rivals are doing.

True, I have to admit that seeing the armband on Tevez in the team you posted on here did have undue influence on my captaincy decision this week..... ðŸ™

I tried to watch Shutter Island over the weekend, but fell asleep about half an hour in - not because it was boring, but because I was knackered. Then I decided to read the plot on the internet, so trying to watch it again would be a waste of time. Oops.

Been away all weekend. Assume most on here got stung by captaining Tevez. Well done to anyone with Lamps. Tried to fit him in, but ultimately I had to get rid of Rooney, which I didn't think was wise as I never would have expected the Liverpool United result.

Holding onto my mini-league leads for dear life.

Probably would have been rested anyway tbh- no big clubs give a shite about the FA cup anymore.

Still think that Carragher wanted to do some damage in that challenge.

    Few interesting stats off twitter.....

    - Chelsea have scored more goals in March than any other Premier League team

    - Torres has gone 5 appearances without a goal for the 3rd time this season, in his first 3 seasons in the Premier League he only went without a goal in 5 games once

Last one is a shocker, I see him exploding soon though! 🙂

I honestly don't. We have heard every excuse for Torres' lack of form except what no one has saying: he has lost it.

This dates to well before the World Cup: that's more than a slump, thats a drop in overall form. Even since then, besides one great bending shot against Chelsea (that, let's face it, Cech should have stopped) very goal has been a Kuyt-esque tap-in.

why again is everyone so sure he'll come good?
