The Swiss FA have given Arsene Wenger and Fantasy Managers new hope after announcing that Johan Djourou could return from injury within two weeks. After previously being ruled out for the season with a dislocated shoulder, suffered in the FA Cup loss to Manchester United, the defender who has been key to Arsenal may make a shock return.

The Swiss FA are hopeful that the defender may be fit for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on March 26. Their statement reads:

“The shoulder injury to Johan Djourou is less serious than feared on Saturday and announced by the coach of his club. The Arsenal defender and member of the Switzerland national team was submitted to thorough medical examinations on Monday. At the end of a long exhausting day, Johan Djourou had new hope that…. his season is not over yet.”

It is reported that Djourou has not suffered any fractures or bone injuries and the ligaments strained during the dislocation of the shoulder do not seem to be seriously damaged. The central defender will await the detailed assessments of a medical examination he underwent on Monday. If Djourou does return, he could be back for the Gameweek 31 fixture on 2 April against Blackburn.

Arsenal have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 9 Premier League fixtures that Djourou has played in. So far this season, in the games in which Djourou has featured, the Gunners have won 13 out of 16 and drawn the other 3. Valued at just 4.4 on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Djourou has been a bargain buy for many Fantasy Managers. With stats like these, a possible return will be a huge boost for Arsenal Football Club and his FPL owners.

In the meantime, Laurent Koscielny will be partnered by the Sébastien Squillaci who has been less than impressive in his time at the Emirates. The Gunners are also linked with a short-term move for veteran former goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, who will be back-up to Manuel Almunia with Lukasz Fabiański and Wojciech Szczęsny ruled out with long-term injuries.

It is expected that Arsenal will make an official comment on the players condition in the next few days and the player may reveal more through his Twitter account.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

    RMT please
As long as Nani is fit for the w/e I'm thinking of Arteta and Zigic out and bringing in Ferguson (I know he's a doubt but need to free up the funds)and RVP.
If Nani isn't fit I might have to do Djourou for Walker too so I can play 4-3-3.
    any suggestions warmly welcomed 🙂

I'd do the Arteta move considering that he is injured and surely doesn't have a chance to play for a couple weeks.

Barton and Zigic both being doubts is making the prospect of a 4 point hit more appealing, I have 6.1 in the bank burning a hole in my pocket to do Zigic OUT Wellbeck IN and Barton OUT VDV/Bale IN this week, so I can do Nasri OUT Lampard IN and Tevez OUT RVP IN next week.

Good moves, I am shipping Barton and Zigic myself, where Barton and himself are doubts again it is a no-brainer, Kolarov and Tevez are also on the chopping block for me.

I would keep Odemwingie against a potentially weakened Arsenal defence and do Barton OUT VDV IN this week.

We'd have no chance of getting Wilshere - Rodwell seems likely sooner or later if he keeps improving.

If Fergie really has got most of the Ronaldo cash to spend then Bale is possible - we tried to get him before Spurs signed him, think he chose Spurs because he'd get more playing time. He'd probably be £35-£40m, though...

I don't think ManU can afford Bale at all. if he goes this summer he's going for silly money as the Real/Chelsea/Man City of this world will want a slice and I just don't think United can compete with them anymore.

he mentions Obertan as young talent and completely lost me!

I am not sure about Rodwell, but I haven't seen him play enough to know what i am talking about. Last player that came to United who I knew little to nothing about and hadn't seen play all that often was one Michael Carrick, and at the time I asked "who is Michael Carrick?", now I know, and he is dump.

So, I view all this talk of Rodwell being the next coming of Roy Keane with a pinch of salt. One thing is clear however, we need midfielders, and plenty of them.

Carrick was immense for Spurs. Was sad to see him leave. And he had a fair amount of experience under his belt too. Granted he hasn't performed up to his price-tag at United but you should have known him before that transfer.

It has to be said I was an NFL nut at the time and wasn't as avid a fan of Premier League football as I am now, and watch games between Wigan and Stoke god forbid. I know Carrick did a job at Spurs, but I hate him as a United player, lazy, careless with the ball, and a general nuisance, couldn't believe we offered him a new 4 year contract.

well, if it's a choice between O'Shea/Gibson or Rodwell in midfield, I would prefer Rodwell too, I take it from opinion on here that he is very good, so I hope that is the case, and of course we need good young midfielders, hopefully Cleverly can stay fit and at United next season.

By first choice, i meant ariving in a transfer, if he was our only option, I'd take him as he can probably be better than everything we have now. (except Anderson...)

        agreed.

Look at the young talent we would have then:

Rodwell Cleverley Welbeck Smalling Evans Hernandez Rafael Fabio.

That's almost like a whole new team. If they spent the next 4 years together, we could gel into an amazing amazing team

If I were a Man United fan I'd be depressed by looking at that list. Who out of those is going to be a new Ferdinand, Keane, Ronaldo, Scholes or Giggs?

Most of those players will be lucky to reach Premiership journeyman level imo.

Is this captaincy really going to go back to Terry? I completely dumbfounded if it does. Why take it off him Capello in the first place if you didn't really mean it. I understand that Rio isn't around often enough to justify the captaincy but Lamps was the captain last game so why is he now being stripped of it.

Ridiculous decision. I've said all along that crop of players (Lampard, Gerrard, Terry etc) have had their day for England and done piss all with it. They are all knocking on a bit now, so they should make way for younger players coming through. Especially as there are some decent youngsters.
One exception I'd make though would be Ferdinand, he's not tarred with the world cup debacle, any of the other players over 31 who were at it should be binned.

It's all very simple, England will never win anything with Gerrard and Lampard occupying two of the precious midfield slots. In fact they are big part of the reason why England'd position in world football (as a national team) have dropped so much over the last 10 years.

Might as well try out some youngsters instead.

I'd get Watson. You have enough transfers left (I used one of my remaining four to get him!) and I doubt he'll fail with the bat twice in a row.

He's always a great bet, because he bowls a fair bit and bats high up the order. There aren't too many others in the tournament who are like that.

          5 Aussies isn't overkill.

I hope you stay up, that way we'll probably see Tango Man do some more ridiculous singing on the pitch! It's not looking too likely though....

i live down in london now, so don't get to see them as much as i used too.

Are you talking about the old chairman, Derek Shaw?

"i live down in london now, so don’t get to see them as much as i used too."

            every cloud!!

it's a guy called Mal Woodhouse who owned it with his father in the 90s and is pretty much responsible for saving the club and getting the stadium built, as i understand

he has one of the executive boxes there still, which he paid up front for 5 years at £25k a year!! the fact he may be stuck with division 1 football next year is not a nice thought...

I am tempted by a switch from Tevez -> Torres ... ? Madness ? Or just get Rooney wait until the Chelsea double and see which (if any) Chelsea striker is showing signs of form.

Also Should I do Kelly -> Huth

    Or

Clark -> Luiz ?? Only combination I cannot do here is Kelly -> Luiz.

I think I'm going to do
    Tevez + Zigic > Roonpig + Wellbeck
    and
    Bendy + Silva > RVP + O'hara

Which would you do this week?
Don't see the sense in taking a 12 point hit, would rather do two 4 pointers.
The only problem I'm having is that whilst probably overpriced Silva looks like Man City's best player by some way at the mo and is just about turning that into FPL goodness.

Wat to do with this team?

    Foster (Bergovic)
Huth Coleman Walker (R Johnson Kelly)
    Nani Nasri Adam Fab (Brunt)
    Odemwingie Tevez Torres

    Thinking
    Odemwingie -> Rooeny
    Fab -> VDV.

    Thoughts?

Tevez > Rooney, Wingie > RVP, Fabs > Lamps
      Also Brunt > Midpriced MF (e.g. Adam/O'hara/DUff)

Vidic missed training on Monday morning while he underwent treatment on a knock sustained against the Gunners, but the Reds captain is expected to start alongside Chris Smalling in defence against Didier Deschamps' side. "He got a knock and was receiving treatment today. Hopefully he'll be OK, he's tough enough"

Wow. That's serious news. If Vidic is out I'll have a look at the Marseille odds in that game.

I think Manchester United are in way more trouble this time than they usually are.
