What have Mark’s facial hair and Roger Johnson’s short back and sides got in common? Both somehow make appearances in this hastily arranged episode of the Scoutcast. That reminds me, I learnt a new word today in my car ride to work – ‘merkin’ – honestly I had no idea before today. (Get to the point Granville – Editor Mark)

Focusing on the serious business of Fantasy Football and I stretched my lead this week, contrary to Mark’s assessment of my ‘troubled’ squad in last week’s episode; he really needs to pull off miracles now if he’s to get back in it.

Elsewhere, Aleksandar “Lolorov” gets more than just a passing mention. Is it me or does that player get more attention on our site than any other player bar Nicolas Bendtner and Matt Taylor?

All aboard is back and guess who’s the most transferred player in this week? I’ll give you a clue – he’s not playing this weekend. Oh how we love those casual Fantasy Football managers!

Thoughts on Gyan? Fixtures say yes, form says no.. a bit overpriced at 7.0 but hes on pens and their main striker

Sunderland have mustered 52 goal attempts in their last 6 games-the second lowest in the league. I sense their season is petering out somewhat tamely
I can not recommend Gyan with much confidence I'm afraid. Need to see some form first.
Any ideas on my next move from the team on the last page?

I'd thought about that Bhargi when I first heard about Rooney's ban. However, no other forward can match Rooney's stats at present and I feel that it is worth keeping hold of him for the run in. Thanks for the idea anyway!

Gyan isn't overpriced based on season performance (in the games he's actually played) but lately his service/ form have not been good, so it depends if you think sunderland will turn it round against the lesser teams (who will not lie down and be walked over)

My betting tip - Stick money on Chelsea to win the league now. Then after GW 34 games, lay the same bet (All on betfair)

Given their 4 easy games to United's 3 average games - I'd say Chelsea will almost definitely claw back a 3-5 points, meaning their odds will likely get shorter.

This isn't to say I think Chelsea will win the league, just that their perceived 'chance' will go up

This is a betting strategy I'm just working on, next season I might go crazy on these kind of bets. Think it's possible to get an edge because the odds reflect the long term...

Whilst you can technically bet on the short term.

I meant to say when laying a team you need to have that amount in your account incase the result is unfavourable to you. By GW34, Man Utd might have won all their games since this post & the Chelsea odds may actually go the other way especially if Arsenal lose a game or two.

MU would get even shorter in the market thus blowing out the other odds.

Let's pretend Chelsea & MU win all their games in the next 3 gameweeks.

                    Table would look like this

MU 75, Chelsea 67, Arsenal 65 with 2 losses in 4 etc. With 4 games left MU only need 5 points max.

Sorry but the Lampard bandwagon is just ridicuous. How 24% more people have him captain ahead of Nani is nonsense. Has nobody considered that we have 3 games in 6 days and lamps will play every min of CL games so may be spared playing time v Wigan? The fact Nani was dropped for the last 2 makes him a certain starter and very likely 90 mins tomorrow. Plus Chelsea and Lampard look unlikely to go goal crazy at present.

I agree about the bandwagon. I was being sarcastic on the whole. I guess many have his ending to last season in their minds. Not sure if I am getting Lampard this week but in any case I'll probably go with form over value as an emergency strategy & won't have him anywhere near captain.

I understand people bringing him with our DGW looming, of course. It was just the captain's poll that startled me. He looks well off the pace to me now, does not dominate at all. He will probably get 4 pens now though 🙂

Wigan are terrible. That might be a factor. With the current formation, Lampard is an expensive Adam. Don't see much from open play atm. Penalties are his best chance of scoring well.

I've thought that too (I was arguing it like mad before)

The way i've justified it is... I think he's worth 10 million

He plays 4 games to everyone else's 3

          10x4 is more than 3x12.9

So, he's worth it for 4 games!

Rooney's better than lampard, but in next 3gws lampard is easily going to outscore rooney.

4 games compared to 2. And easier games.

Usually if i had a 12.9 million player at home to wigan I'd captain him. But in this case I only signed Lampard because I couldn't think of a good way to spend my money - I don't rate him.

But I'm captaining Van Persie. Also I think Wigan are fighting like relgation battlers, but blackpool continue to go gung ho (refreshing but dangerous!)

Guess it depends if you have more faith in Lampard than me.

      What a long winded answer

Same sort of dilemna as me!

If you take the view that Luiz and Lampard are needed, then it makes sense to get them in this week to maximise the next 4 gwks.

How do you do it? Can you do Kolarov and Lennon for both CHS players? If not, you may have to go down the Nani route.

        Thanks Bill for comment

Yes, preferably would like to get both Luiz and Lampard. However that would require me taking a hit (-4) for 3 transfers e.g.

Young, Lennon, Kolarov OUT for Lampard, O'Hara, Luiz IN

Will wait for more news from Chelsea before deciding.

What are your transfers this GW?

Van Persie, Lampard, Berbatov or Fabregas as captain?

I'm on Lampard at the moment, but can't decide on who's going to score more this weekend? Surely putting faith in Arsenal would be silly after last weekend. However they always do better away from home and Blackpool just conceded 3 to Fulham. Chelsea still in good league form, but Lampard not a definite scorer...however he could get a huge point haul.

Dark horse Berbatov could grab at least 2 goals this weekend as well. I am so conflicted. I'm so seriously you guys, which one would you choose?

Help me tosey. I'm being worn down by the Lampard rush. All week my instinct has been telling me to go into this week with Fabregas and Luiz and hold off one week on Fabs to Lamps, the closer the weekend gets the more tempted I am to go in with Lamps and Huth and get Luiz next week - that captains poll freaks me and it feels like it might be the least costly decision if it turns out to be a bad one. What do you reckon?

he scored 20 from midfield last season, got the most assists in the league

hes got 49pts in his last 7 games - a run that included 4 away games and 3 home games against utd city and liverpool

he now has the kindest run of fixtures possible

lamps is captain for me until may.

The Fabregas thing interests me. You have to assume Arsenal will score at least 2 goals. Is he fit and healthy?

God knows with Fabregas, but having stuck by him for this many weeks I almost feel silly transferring him out against Blackpool.

I still think Fabs could do very well this week, but looking at it from a damage limitation perspective it would be less harmful to my ranking to get it wrong with Lamps.

I have a question for you guys

    Nolan out for who?

    Wilshere - blp & LIV/tot
    Hitzlsperger - bol & AVL
Someone else in this price bracket?

Will get O'hara in after this but not until after his blank in GW 33 (ready for his double in 34)

Wilshere is an interesting one, I'd take him over Hitzelsperger, but I guess it's whether you're prepared to budget for a transfer. I don't personally like bringin in players for 2 GWs, the freebies are like gold dust at this stage of the season so I'd probably go with O'Hara now despite the blank if I had enough cover for that week.

OK - so you've ruled out O'Hara because he has a blank but you're keeping the other 4 players who have a blank in GW33 and shipping out Nolan? Wilshere makes sense due to his double in GW33 but i guess his rotation risk means he might not feature. IF you do't fancy Newcastle at Villa how about Albrighton?

        I'm sorry

I'm shipping out other players in addition to this but I didn't need advice on those, this transfer would give me a full team for GW33

        Thanks for the tips

I'm bringing in Luiz and Lamps in addition to this

Just need a cheap and cheerful guy

O'hara would be ideal but I'd be a man short next week unfortunately

Guys, 2 frees this week. Thinking of doing:

    VdV to Adam
    Coleman to Luiz

    Would give me:

    Foster
    Luiz, Kolarov, Walker
    Nani, Adam, Nasri, Lamps, Jarvis
    Bent, RVP (c)

    (Harper, Huth, Johnson, Zigic)

    Sound about right?

Coleman's a doubt for the weekend.

I'd get rid of Kolarov, but that'd give me no cover for the MNF game and I hate going into a monday nighter without any representation.

I'm thinking of commiting an FPL cardinal sin and benching Charlie Adam. Arsenal are too good to keep fupping up. Aren't they?. When Arsenal play properly they dominate midfield, Adam should not get a look in. My next main bench option would be Odemwingie and I have to admit that my decision is being influenced by the fact that I benched him last week and my pathetic score could have done with his 10 points.

Despite the let down last week, I am captaining RVP again. Don't buy into the Lampard hype, the form that is causing it is 12 months old. Nani and Berbatov are tempting options though.

Look at Adam's last 10 games, add the points up and then see if you feel it's worth benching Adam.

so you wont buy into the lampard hype as his forms 12 months old yet youll buy nani who lampard has 10 points more than ove rthe last 7 and berbatov who lampard has 33 more than over the last 7 games

      cracking logic there

Chelsea record against the top 4 since Bosingwa signed for the club:

    With Bosingwa in the side: P8, W1, L6 F6 A12

    Without Bosingwa in the side: P7 W7 F14 A1

Quite extraordinary numbers. Can't say that I'm the slightest bit surprised though. Dreadful player.

Bit of silly question but which top four you are referring to?

Last year's? i.e. Spurs and not Liverpool. If so I'd be surprised.

Anyhow I agree, Bosingwa's attacking raids down the flank always leave the defence vunerable and even when he is there he can't tackle. Was nice watching Giggs skip past him on Wednesday night with a fraction of his pace but x times the footballing brain.

I'd imagine that it's the current top four, so Arsenal, Utd and City. Not entirely sure though, just copy and pasted it from
        twitter!

Him just letting Carrick's pass fly over his head and then letting Giggs ghost past him was absolutely criminal.

What you think Bristol City's/Maynard's chances are this weekend? Would you go 4/1 wincast, or 7/4 for anytime. Leaning towards the latter myself, just wondering what your opinion is.

ive done 40 on maynard anytime scorer at 7/4 - i still dont trust our defence that much despite our cleanie last week

heres a copy n paste of an email i sent to my mates earlier in the week

look at barnsleys results this year http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/page/Fixtures/0,,10309~2009,00.html

only besat cov donny scunny preston

won 1 and drew 4 of last 10

also our last 3 games against them weve scored 11 goals

      city 2/1
      maynard 7/4
      maynard wincast 4/1
      and over 2.5

      look very good bets
