The gameweek draws to a close at the Cottage tonight as Fulham play host to a Bolton side surely flowing with confidence following the late 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday. The Trotters have suffered a major blow when it comes to their starting lineup however, with the hottest of shots Daniel Sturridge failing to overcome an ankle knock suffered late on against the Gunners. He misses out, disappointing many a Fantasy Manager in the process.

There’s also a let-down in the Fulham lineup as Mark Hughes puts out an unchanged side; Bobby Zamora is once again warming the bench then, apparently suffering from a back problem. His owners will hope to see him emerge at some point though, and perhaps even earn an assist or two that qualifies for some points this time.

With the small matter of the Real vs Barcelona Champions League clash rumbling on in Spain, this post can be used to soak up all your floodlit comments, with real-time chat going on in the Dugout Discussion as per usual.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Fulham goal: Safety beckons. Bolton fail to deal with a corner and when Chris Baird hooks the ball back into the box, Clint Dempsey is on hand to lash high into the net from 12 yards out

Didn't see it, this is what I am going by atm. Will Baird get an assist? Anyone see it?

Me too. Fulham's fixtures aren't good, plus Dempsey never does anything in the following games after he scores. I think Sunderland will keep a cleanie against them this weekend.

right, dempsey throws a curve into my plans. Please vote on the best transfer for this weekend’s team, currently:

    Mignolet

    Luiz, Carr, Huth

    Lamps, Nani, VDV, Dempsey, Adam

Rooney, RVP (Walker, Simpson, Gyan) 0.0 in bank

    a) Nani->silva
    b) Huth->kolarov
    c) Gyan->Odemwingie, but still need to bench someone
    d) any 2 of 3 for a 4 point hit, kolarov could then be upgraded to the more nailed on lescott)

    🙂

i see you have nani and rooney as well, thinking of doing same? doesnt seem wise to have both at this point and nani definitely seems riskier of the two. especially while berbatov is out, rooney should be safe. plus theres always the valencia escape clause, Id lose a million on nani but could easily use that spot for valencia.

Absolutely ridiculous hypocrisy from the guy. He used to moan about teams and managers for "parking the bus" often enough, yet when it suits him it's all fine.

"As we say in Portugal, they brought the bus and they left the bus in front of the goal. I would have been frustrated if I had been a supporter who paid £50 to watch this game because Spurs came to defend. There was only one team looking to win, they only came not to concede - it's not fair for the football we played."

    dgw experiment over http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/eventhist.mc?id=2320907&event=34

conclusions: it's quality not quantity. don't back relegation fodder unless his name is adam. the cream seems to rise to the top more often than not, the likes of dempsey, hangeland, huth, players who've done well all season. punts are exactly that; punts, maybe worth it for a free but for a hit is very hard to justify

Why not? 2 goals and 2 assists in his last four, including two sub appearances and an away game at Old Trafford.

He'd also played 90 minutes in the last game, so there was no indication that he'd be on the bench for these two games.

              1. middies rarely beaten as C choices
              2. Z 'just' returning from injury (OK, a month or so, but a double puts a lot of strain)
              3. Clint's returns past 7 games not bad - 5/7 got extra points(g/a/bps)
              4. Clint much more the 'engine' of the team than Zammy, ergo likely to get BPs, if any.

I concur. He was always a nailed on captain pick for me this week. With the recent form he'd shown and the fixtures fulham had there was huge potential for points. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and accept it was a logical decision but they don't always come off.

If they did, this game would be shite.

I never said he'd score more than anyone else (please feel free to check) just idi0ts like you were putting words in my mouth.

I was mocking all of the doom mongerers who said he'd be getting rotated in the league every week.

SIMPLY NOT THE CASE. I am correct about this. I will admit when i am wrong. Shame spinless little boom boys can't. Cry me a river tard.

Yep. I was wrong. Couldn't have foreseen Dempsey who had scored 2 goals in 10 games prior to this week (when he had been up front) then scoring 2 in a fixture (when playing out on the wing).

I'm glad i had the safety option of putting him in my team. I think it was a bit of a fluke but i concede what i said was a FAIL. I own up to it. And i'm eager to hand out more sh1t. But i will always tell it as i see it and most of the time be right.

Why the hell did I buy in O'Hara and not Dempsey? I blame Mark and Granville's podcast, and hanging around this site too much. Two weeks ago I was all for it, until this "oh he's not scoring points on the wing" crap!

Now my rival captained him, and my 22 point cushion at the top of the league is down to just 5...squeaky bum time!

I said ti earlier, we all speculate on here so much about players starting and being rotated and playing out of position and all that, Clint is always capable of the score he got tonight, it came out of nowhere fair enough, but I was certainly fearful of this happening when a rival captained him and Bobby didn't start tonight. Every time we all predict him not starting up front, he does.

Rival who captained him captained Berbatov in THAT week of his too, is a killer, making 40 odd in one foul swoop each time.

did he start up front though? i think the pretty midfield minded gudjohnsen and dembele certainly aided dempsey's cause of getting forward but he was surely stuck on the opposite flank to davies.
agree though writing him completely off was silly. it was certainly nice to see gary cahill plonked back in his place on the over-rated chair again
