West Brom may seem an unlikely source of end of season Fantasy talent but, form and a batch of favourable fixtures for the Baggies over the final four gameweeks undoubtedly make them well worthy of consideration. Roy Hodgson’s side have hit the 40 point-mark and, while they are mathematically still not clear of relegation from the Premier League, the club’s outstanding recent run of form suggests otherwise.

One defeat in nine matches since Hodgson’s appointment has seen them average two goals per game, a big difference from the previous 31 goals in 25 games under Roberto Di Matteo. Considering they have one clean sheet all season, it’s fair to say West Brom have been reliant on the men up front to fire them to top-flight safety and luckily for Hodgson, he has the services of Peter Odemwingie to rely upon.

Odemwingie has had a dream debut season in the Premier League and with (AVL, wol, EVE, new) still to come, there’s surely some more goals in the Nigerian’s boots between now and the end of the season. The “Hodgson Effect” has had a big impact on his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points output, too; he averaged a respectable 4.6 points per game (ppg) under Di Matteo, but has soared to 6.4ppg since Roy’s arrival.

While Charlie Adam has been hailed as the Fantasy bargain of the season, a look at Value (Season) in FPL shows Odemwingie has matched the Blackpool man, with both top on 28. Adam is owned by 35.4% of FPL teams but Odemwingie stars in just 12.1%, despite a ridiculously low price of 5.4.

As many Fantasy Managers look to get rid of double gameweek 34 players and with the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal all facing some tricky upcoming fixtures, a transfer-in for Odemwingie almost seems like a no-brainer; 4 goals, 4 assists and 8 Bonus Points in his last 5 games (a run including clashes with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea) marks him as the in-form forward in the Premier League right now and a budget-friendly bargain at that.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Foster/Baines/Walker/Luiz/Lampard/Yaya/Adam/Ferguson/RVP/Bent/Suarez

    Subs: Begovic/Jarvis/Hangeland/Shawcross

    Anyone think I should play Ferguson over Jarvis or vice versa?

    Cheers 🙂

    really thinking about losing rvp for one of balotel or suarez, playing drogba up front with whoever i get, leaving sturridge on the bench for next week...and playing five midfielders.

    Four of the mids my rival WONT have, and neither of them forwards.

    So 6 attacking differentials...the only way im gonna get this 70 points back really isnt it...

      Fortune favours the brave, the right captain this week and you could chop that lead right down. I reckon I'm getting in Suarez.

        I think Suarez is a very good captain pick, though I don't think I'll bring him in- need to save my transfers for city players.

        Agree; my Dempsey captain netted me almost a 30-point differential over most of my mini-league rivals just via the one player.

        I think RBJ is looking at things the right way: if you're currently 'losing' to a rival, there's really nothing to be lost by going for differentials in the last four weeks. With the right Cap't. choice, 70 points *could* be erased in two weeks' time.

        Exactly what i was just thinking about!
        Need to catch 22 points from my rival(s), and they all have rvp, suarez would really be the differential i need.

        Isnt it time to pick up an injury for the dutchman

        wouldnt make much sense 4 gameweeks out in the early season, but we are 4 gameweeks from the end now and if you are behind and want to catch, left side moves like that is the way to go imo

            Really, Adam is the only other 'obvious' choice of a sitter in lieu of Demps ... tough call. Demps seems to be chasing last week's points and playing away.

            Personally, I think Adam is a done deal for the season - his BP potential seems to have dried up. I'd go Demps over Adam ... but a 50/50 call, IMO.

      i have 5 solid reasons to bring in odemwingie but I cant.

      a) he's obviously in top form
      b) he's cheap as chips
      c) he's on my rivals team, has been for weeks, and he's closing the gap
      d) he'd replace the unusable Gyan
      e) now he's the featured player on the watchlist.

      i have one solid reason to not bring him in.
      Id have to bench one of nani, lamps, adam, dempsey, vdv, rvp, rooney.

      So I should replace nani or dempsey with a city player instead right? 3 home ties in 3 straight weeks, with a bonus road match thrown in for the double. Cant miss strategy, no? In my situation, I should not get odemwingie?

          I'd be tempted to say at this stage of the season, risks become more viable because you don't have to consider any more than 4 gameweeks. Think it's a tough call between Kolarov and Lescott. I'd be tempted by Kolarov over Lescott!

              lescott's pedigree is very good, hence his price tag. but richard dunne 09/10 3311 mins 170 points, 10/11 2397 mins 63 points suggests the past season's are almost irrelevent

              Kolarov's returns have been pretty poor this season, haven't they? Can't believe he's only got 1 goal and 1 assist and I seem to remember that was when he played left midfield. Lescott is definitely the safer option. Is Kolarov still involved in set-pieces?

                adam johnson is taking a lot of them off kolarov. think he only managed to get on 1 corner against blackburn. any direct free kick though on the right half of the pitch and kolarov will still be all over it. i agree though lescott in the one to get imo.

                  Cheers ab. In light of this discussion, I agree that Lescott is the better pick. Think Kolarov is still a great cheaper option but if I had the cash to splash in defence, Lescott's the man.

        kolarov has more potential to score.
        lescott is believed to be the safest bet to not be rotated.
        If i had a lead, Id probably do lescott, if I needed to catch up and gamble a little, Id do kolarov.

      Currently 3rd in a mini league where top 3 win money. Not having Dempsey has really made my chances of winning very slim. Currently 58 behind 1st, and 23 behind second. Do ye think I should take some risks to try and get 2nd or even 1st, or just hang onto 3rd place? (Currently 17 points ahead of 4th, with the guys in 5th and 6th only 2 points behind him.) Opinions appreciated.

      Best Option in your opinions:

      A) Ethers -> Silva (no hit) (starting Carroll)

      B) Ethers -> Silva, Zamora -> Odem (benching Carroll)..4pt hit

      C) Ethers -> Yaya, Zamora -> Ballotelli (benching Adam/Carroll)

      Would suck if we lost Fab, I can't shake this feeling there's going to a mass exodus of guys leaving. Fab might, Arshavin gets an offer from Zenit, Clichy rumors to Liverpool, Nasri in talks, and I heard some commentator say RVP might leave if Fab does?

            meh that's what everyone said last season. as long as xavi is still going strong fabregas is fine. i think his injuries will work in arsenal's favour too as barcelona may want to see him get through a season with his hamstring in tact before shelling out a huge sum of money for him

              Nah i think last year was the straw that broke the camels back. I didnt expect him to go, very similar to Ronaldo in 08 09.
              His cycle at Arsenal looks to be finished and the club needs to be brought in a new direction.

              A parting of ways on both sides seems inevitable. Given his veiled critism of the club and Wenger recently id only give me something like a 1 in 5 chance of staying put.

              Perfect time for him to leave now. This year was his last throw of dice with Arsenal

                i think it's clear to most that fabregas has a big affinity with arsenal and there's no way those quotes would be either how they were said or how they were meant.

                    henry was coming to the end of his career and had won everything with arsenal, fabregas is still 23 so there is no hurry for either party. let him have a hopefully more injury free season, if he doesn he's too good not to push his price tag up a bit more, and also xavi will be one year older and closer to retirement.
                    anyway i don't know why i'm arguing, i don't know any of the details behind it all i know is my own feeling that fabregas is not going anywhere

      Hmm, still trying to decide what to do. Advice would be greatly appreciated:

      Front 8 is:
      vdv, Dempsey, Fabs, Adam, O'Hara
      RVP, Bent, Sturridge

      Should I:
      A) O'Hara -> Silva, Bent -> Odem (4 pt hit)
      B) O'Hara -> Yaya (no hit)
      C) Dempsey -> Silva (no hit)
      D) Fabs -> Silva (no hit)
      E) Dempsey/Fabs -> Silva, Sturridge -> Odem (4 pt hit)

      (I'd bench Sturridge for A-D and bench O'Hara for E)
