A mere two Fantasy Premier League gameweeks remain and it truly is do or die time for points accumulation – perhaps you need to cement your lead ala United and City, or maybe you’re making a last gasp Kenny Dalglish surge. With much left to play for, it’s two of the game’s big cheeses who are storming away in this week’s Captain’s Poll. It appears that reliability, rather than risk, is the general consensus. With Fantasy Managers placing a safe wager instead or punting on a late outsider…

It is Frank Lampard who currently tops our charts – with just under a quarter of the vote. The Chelsea skipper is in rampant form, fetching 4 goals and 6 bonus points in his last 5 Premier League outings, although it is too little too late as far as their title chances are concerned. Carlo Ancelotti’s men face Newcastle this weekend and you would expect some goals against a creaky back four. This will therefore be the reasoning behind Didier Drogba’s inclusion in fourth place in our table with 6%. The Ivorian has scored just 1 goal in 6, but he makes up for this with 5 assists and 7 bonus points.

The second of our heavyweights, just behind Lampard by a handful of votes, is Robin Van Persie who faces an Aston Villa defence that have kept just 1 clean-sheet in 13 fixtures. The Dutch striker has an incredible record of 16 goals in his last 15 Premier League games. In the same period he has also notched up a remarkable 24 Bonus Points. As Arsenal’s form has buckled, RVP has steadily continued to rake home the FPL royalties – something which shines through in the fact no other Arsenal player makes the top 20 in the poll.

Luis Suarez pops up in the third spot, followed by Dirk Kuyt in eighth. Liverpool currently sit just 2 points above Spurs in fifth in the Premier League and, with form on their side, you would expect the Reds to have the advantage over Redknapp’s boys as the two sides meet each other at Anfield. At the time of writing, only Rafael Van der Vaart from the Tottenham contingent has clocked up any votes – a paltry 1%.

Elsewhere in the ranks, Manchester United’s in-from pair Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez hold 5% and 4% respectively. You would expect them to have received slightly more but, with the title all but guaranteed and one eye on the Champions League, the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen could be factors in the United line-up. With West Ham at home and 3 goals in 4, Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia has plenty of potential and 6% of you agree.

Whoever you feel holds the most Fantasy potential in this penultimate gameweek, be sure to cast your vote on the front page and join in on the gab below this article.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

    A) Silva->Zog/Maxi,Luiz->Baines for a 4 pt. hit, OR B)Silva->Zog,VdV->Kuyt for -4?(This leaves me with a positively sh!tty defense of Luiz,Djourou,Coleman,Jiranek and Simpson, but I like the idea of having both Kuyt and the Zog in the team.

    Planned team this week

    Foster
    Djourou Luiz R Johnson
    Lamps(c) Silva Yaya Kuyt VDV
    RVP Odem

Subs: Schwarzer / Bent Coleman Huth

Thoughts? Worth 4 point for Huth to Flanagan and Bent to Suarez? Then bench Luiz and VDV?

Im not sure about flanagan but id definitely replace hoot with somebody so that i didnt have to double up on birmingham with johnson and foster id recommend bardsley if hes fit (ive not checked on him recently)

I think doubling on Birmingham might be a good idea this week. I'm doing it. They look like one of the sides most likely to get a clean sheet and anyway not many defenders will score well this week, I feel.

If i had no other option i wouldnt be too devastated to double up on them (much less devastated than other teams this week) however if i had an easy way of avoiding it i.e getting rid of an injured player (hoot) for a player with a decent final two fixtures of the season (bardsley) id do that.

Should I play Balotelli (Stoke, Home) or Bent (Arsenal, Away) this gw? Rest of team is as follows:
    Hart (Al Habsi)
    Baines, Kolarov, Luiz, Jiranek
    Lampard, N'Zogbia, Adam, VdV, Kuyt,
    Balotelli / Bent

    Subs
    Balotelli / Bent, Simpson, Welbeck.

    baines-Evatt-Foley
    Lamp(C)-Adam-Modric-Yaya (Dempsey)
    Suarez-Drogba-Hernandez

already brought in Lamps and thinking of sticking on that. 30 points to make up but rival doesn't have lamps. Anything else worth considering ???

ahhh i see, the guaranteed return from set pieces......how many points has Adam got from them in the last 6?
how many bonus points has he got in last 6?
Blackpool and Wigan have both scored 15 in the last 6.
Bolton have conceded less than WHM and also score fewer so better chance of clean sheet for Adam?

Well Adam has much more opportunity of scoring big over N'Zogbia from set pieces alone, factor in that N'Zogbia might not even get a fill 90 mins I'm pretty sure Adam would be odds on to get a bigger score than N'Zogbia

Rough end to the season, what do you think of this team before transfers:

    Foster (Mignolet)
    Luiz Coleman Kolarov (RJohnson Huth)
    Lampard VdV Silva Adam (Ferguson)
    Carroll RvP Zamora

    1) RJ + Zamora > Djourou + Rooney
    2) Something else involving Suarez!

Is Carroll fit? (1) would be decent if Carroll was fit!

So I'm going to take out Young or VDV and have about 10.6mil to spend on a replacement who can't be Silva, Kuyt, Meireles, Adam or Malouda... any suggestions?

Looks like the better option alright - just always feels unnatural buying someone so cheap that plays for wolves vs a utd striker.

      Taking an 8pt hit and going vdv,nolan,bent -> lampard,nzogbia,fletcher
