All the top scorers come from Bolton (what a miserly week, eh?) and then Aguero scores 2 and gets an assist in 30 minutes.

This one wouldn't even sneak under Helen Keller's radar now. Alas.

She's busy trying to transfer him in on an Etch-A-Sketch now.

      Poor thing.

Anyroad, surely the one 'must have' uber-essential player now is
      Aguero
      Silva
      Vorm

Leighton Baines - there must be a double GW on the horizon.

I have three of the four and downgraded Silva for Yaya da Bull. He's certain to either sort out that final third touch or trick some sleepy defender with his fake strained hamstring rope-a-dope.

    Right I've started taking hits..

It clearly says ....No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011).

...there's no way that's open to interpretation. This isn;t goodbye to my players its greatbye. (borrowed from Peter Sarfanowich)

I can't see how No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011) can mean anything other than what it says. If my pts hits count ...then I won;t be the only one...hilariously they may have to restart again at gw 3. 😉

bit of perspective needed. aguero came on home to swansea in a game that was already won. man city had spent the 60mins tiring out and then once dzeko's goal went in demoralising the swansea side. yes it was a great last goal but easy tiger

Sorry you might have wanted something more.

Looks a good team to me, not sure about Tim Cahill. I never really trust him. Very defence heavy isn't it? Unsure on Sinclair and Holt too, Sinclair has been outshone by 4.5 Dyer here.

It is a bit big in defence but with Cole getting 3 BPs I think him and Baines will do well, I guess we'll see after the next week.

Cahill is a bit of a punt but with those fixtures is worth the risk, I can always keep Silva if I want and downgrade Brown to 4.0m.

Sinclair just because he's on pens and FKs > Dyer. Holt I'm unsure too but again, will give him the benefit of the doubt for a while longer.

          Innit.

I'm going Malouda simply because there are too many good options at Torres' price up front, the same can't be said of Malouda. I think he'll get the most minutes of the three, and has a decent chance of scoring.

I think everyone should keep complaining to FPL until they give us an extra 5m each in virtual compensation. Still can't piece together a side I really love.

    So,

The people who had spent time on sites like these over the summer contributing to the community and actually planned their team more than 18 hours ahead of the first deadline are recieving almost no benefit from this. Those who are too lazy and just couldn't be bothered now get a free chance to remove all their failures with no penalty. If you picked Gervinho, Kuyt or Drogba and had Hall as your cheap defender before the deadline and weren't affected by the log in problems why should you get away with transferring them out for free? Why shouldn't you have to consider keeping them when they may not play, taking transfer hits or using your wildcard?

What benefit do I get from spending two hours last week picking Caulker out as a starting 4M Swansea defender? Absolutely none, that's what. I'd benched him anyway this week and had to gamble on him being a starter for when I needed him later in the season, now everyone who doesn't do any work knows he's a starter and can get him in for free.

What benefit did I get from planning my team past gameweek 1? Absolutely none, someone could have simply looked at the GW1 fixtures, picked played based just on that and can now get rid of the lot of them for a more balanced week in week out team with no penalty.

What if someone planned their team carefully on Thursday for the FPL season then went on holiday? They won't be able to use the free transfers to benefit from price rises this week will they.

I am having to use the transfers to catch potential price rises (if they haven't frozen prices - which given their incompetence so far I'll happily say they haven't) as otherwise I am at a disadvantage compared to those that do transfer. If it wasn't for this wildcard I would seriously consider not making any transfers and would have had two free transfers for next week, but now I can't do that.

This idea from the FPL team is really quite, quite poor and for FFS to blindly state they will begin leagues from GW2 and not allow those who helped contribute to the community over the summer the advantage they deserve by keeping GW1 scores is short sighted in the extreme.

Anyway, I'm sure all of you out there will tell me I'm completely wrong... please link your team also if you do.

yeah, the point you are making (numerous times in slightly different form) is right.

I guess, all I can say to you is it won't make too much difference to your final position- they people who didn't bother doing their team won't bother maintaining it.

FPL is like a war of attrition - whoever can be bothered to keep trying to the very end will generally do OK

As long as they fix the issue of being able to see transfers people have made before the gameweek deadline or other teams will just straight copy the person doing well...

See my reply below, I broadly agree. I have a decent team and was planning on saving a transfer this week.

Thing is, those casual players you refer to will only repeat the same mistakes, or all transfer in high scorers from GW1. Your dedication and attention to the game will pay off eventually.

It's lose/lose for FPL. They are really damned if they do and damned if they don't. Like you I had sorted my side and although I would have certainly made a couple of changes on Saturday morning given the chance (taking Alcaraz out for one), I was pretty happy with my side.
I feel bad for those who were totally screwed by the deadline fiasco, but I think restarting the leagues is the wrong move.

Wow, dude, get a life. As a Spurs fan you have far more to worry about than people who spent weeks planning a team over those who didn't. What the hell does one game week tell you. So everyone transfers in players that did well in one week, the first week in fact, so what. They will likely spend the next few weeks undoing it all. C'est la vie.

What more have I got to worry about?

At least our new signings didn't splurt out a draw at home to Sunderland.

Liverpool would win the league if it finished the day before the season actually started.

Well let's take the fact you have stood still at best in the transfer market, with everyone else bar Arsenal strengthening you have gone backwards. No real strike force, Modric likely to leave etc. Worry away.

I’m pleased they’ve acknowledged us and gone a fair way to making amends, but…

Slightly annoyed that some people in my mini league, with DREADFUL teams, no balance etc have been able to see my team and now effectively copy all my good picks at no expense.

Sorry if this has been addressed already:
Is there a way of accessing all the stats from weekend matches on the FPL site?
Could previously clink on the fixture link and it would take you to the match details, Inc bonus allocations (want to check all bonus pts so far)
    Ta for any help.

Pikey: Eventually, I assume, 'yes' - as the scores beneath your team are hyperlinked (but dead right now).

If you want BP info, go to transfers and select 'bonus' from the drop down, as well as 'all players'

That'll give you the info, albeit in a more confusing manner.
