While we pointed you towards the Fantasy Premier League Apology earlier, having had time to digest its contents, I thought I’d bring you my view on the actions laid out in today’s release.

We’ve all been immensely frustrated by the events of the weekend – before tonight, it was almost as if the Premier League players themselves had empathy for our situation – arguably, we had very little to cheer.

Personally, I just want to move on now – to look forward to Gameweek Two – I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling that. Before we do however, let’s chew over that FPL statement a little.

Receive unlimited transfers
No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011). If you have already made transfers and had points deducted, these will be restored to your overall total by midnight on Tuesday 16th August 2011. If you have already opted to play your wildcard, this too will be restored at the same time.

This first point, not surprisingly, is by far the most significant. Effectively we now go again with our squad selection. There’s already plenty who feel somewhat aggrieved by this, who feel that they are being punished for their planning and foresight both in terms of getting their team organised and for spotting talent without the assistance of Gameweek One’s fixtures.

While I see the validity of this argument, my main concern as a player is that I want to be playing this game on a level playing field. If I win my mini-league, I want to win it knowing that I’ve done so with no more advantage than my rivals.

Right now, there are members of my mini-leagues who can claim that they were attempting to make changes to their team or captain on the morning of Saturday’s games. You can say they should have planned ahead but, hand on heart, I consider at least changing my captain and substitute order on Saturday morning about 90% of the time over the season. I can understand the frustration of those who were unable to do so last weekend and I don’t want to spend the season risking that being cited when they look at the teams above them.

Personally, I don’t want to play in a league where a proportion of my rivals can claim any disadvantage now, or as the Gameweeks roll on. By taking this step the FPL have at least leveled matters, even if proportion of FPL Managers feel almost punished, nobody can be seen to have a true advantage going forward.

There is the argument that, those teams who started well in Gameweek One (not too many before tonight) have lost their advantage since those with lesser team selections can now reset their squads for free. That’s true of course, but then, by playing a wildcard, everyone had this possibility regardless, the only difference is that now, everyone can keep that wildcard intact – again, everyone stays on a level.

It’s a very difficult situation to weigh up – personally, I feel slightly numb after Gameweek One – in many ways I want a new start where nobody can claim an advantage or disadvantage. I think today’s solution from the FPL gives us that, even though there will be those who feel they’ve lost out. Given the problems suffered on Friday/Saturday – it seemed inevitable that we’d be left with a group of FPL players who felt that way. At least now we have a level playing field for the remainder of the season – that seems a fair situation.

One final note here – regarding the price freeze prior to Gameweek Two – I’ve enquired on this and we’re waiting confirmation. I’ll communicate this once we have news.

Opt to start mini-league scoring at Gameweek 2
The option is available to all mini-league administrators to start the scoring from Gameweek 2. Go to ‘Leagues’ > ‘League name’ > ‘Administer’ > Select ‘Gameweek 2’ in ‘Scoring Starts’ drop-down menu and click ‘Update league details’.

Okay, so now the decision whether to scrap Gameweek One as a scoring Gameweek is down to league administrators. Passing the buck a little but a smart move. Personally, for the reason’s I’ve outlined above, I think it’s valid to start scoring from Gameweek Two to ensure that nobody feels at a disadvantage.

Having said that, perhaps we should give managers a choice. While we’re resetting our Head to Head Leagues, there’s the possibility of running a Gameweek Two Classic League for Members and Non Members and offering the option. To be honest, I need to clear my head and sleep on it before I consider that any further.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I've decided to create a team for the next 2 weeks until i play my wildcard

    Given
    Bosingwa Brown Warnock
    Sessegnon Sinclair Ramsey Nani(c)
    Torres Rooney Bent

    Subs: Ruddy Moses Senderos Simpson

Any thoughts on this team guys? Also any other better options than Ramsey for 2 weeks?

Best team in the league by a distance?

              Massive over-hype.

They weren't exactly devastating against West Brom on Sunday and lucky to get all 3 points, a week before they played against a City attack that weren't breaking sweat.

That's before we get onto their now inexperienced defence and wobbly keeper.

Man you got a free wildcard now and you're planning another in two gwks time? You're mad! Wait for the dgwks to come pouring in in the second half of the season. The only reason I would ever use one this close to the start of the season is because I don't know who's playing/performing after the summer break. We now have a whole weeks info to help us choose! Pick long term not short term!

The thing is we didn't learn much from that opening week i don't think. People jumping to all sorts of conclusions. I personally think we'll be in a much more informed position after wk3. Also, there's an international break and i like the chance to have a 2wk punt team

9 games, a look at the (poor) promoted sides, United and City comfortable, Chelsea Liv, Arsenal struggling, Stoke & Sunderland strong in defense. The whole season looks pretty mapped out to me. You didnt learn anything?

Just the level of hysteria on here is amusing at times.

Suarez looked good at weekend but only for 20minutes (still tired and a difficult GW ahead)

Aguero is phenominal and should be in everyones teams BUT not guaranteed to start and news is that Tevez (the forgotten man) is set to start this wkend. Bolton away will not be easy!

I haven't had a chance to come on here since the league started, but having read through a couple of threads, it seems there have been big issues!

I didn't affect me, as I had no problem logging in multiple times on Friday night and Saturday morning. I can imagine how annoying that can be.
As for the scores, I'm on 41 which isn't bad. But I guess an extra wildcard never hurts!!!

I was just thinking, if the clean sheet isn't there, Kompany won't get substantial points. Lescott can score, I think that did it for me. But I suppose the new bonus does favour Kompany, food for thought.

I just cant find it. To be honest this new site has been slow/not worked and I cant work out where to find what I want/need, its irritating!

I just want to know who got BP!

I dont spend all day on a PC so would be good to go straight to it!

                  Thanks mate.
Why have they messed with it so much, when you click on someones info it only shows you their total score for the week, why not break it down like before?!

So much messing around at the start of the season....

Scared to treat these "free" changes as a WC....would be -16 for changes I want right away!

They seem to have solved the visible transfers problem. When I click on data view for a colleague that has made three transfers, it only shows his autosubs, not the whole, new team.

Thats what my wc team looks like at the mo. Not going near Aguero and Suarez anyway yet.

        Given Vorm
        A.Cole Baines Brown (Simpson Gabbidon)
        Lampard(c) Sess 6.0 Sinclair Moses
        Rooney Bent Holt

Not sure who to get for 6.0 with good fixtures coming up. Could get either OHara or Cabaye im thinking, probably OHara. Any other options at 6.0 or 5.5 ye can think of?

    Fill My Gap:

    Given, Ruddy
Terry, Kompany, Brown, S Taylor, Caulker
??????, N Zog, Sessegnon, Sinclair, Dyer
    Torres, Aguero, Suarez

I have 8.5 for a midfielder. Some Everton would be nice, but its hard to pick one. Cahill is an otption if I squeeze anther 0.5 out somewhere, but there's no mention of him playing in their latest friendly and he did nothing else in the pre-season. Could also down-grade Terry and fit in one of the united boys. All suggestions greatfully accepted.

Get Cashley instead of terry and then spread Dyers's 4.5 m + 8m to get 2 decent mids.

      Ohara 6 + Duff 6.5?

Any news on whether the price rises will happen?

Also, is it even worth playing the transfer market this week as will it actually make you any money? ie they need to go up by 0.2m to make a profit if you intend to sell them by the deadline anyway?
