As we all likely know by now, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) have granted unlimited transfers to reassess and fix our Fantasy outfits ahead of Gameweek two.

Given such freedom to pick and choose new teams as we please, Fantasy managers should be ready and willing to select a captain who will come out of the traps kicking and screaming.

David Silva topped affairs last week and fortunately did voters proud – the problem was that the Man City playmaker was one of only a small handful of players to score points in this low-scoring Gameweek. Here’s a few we think might top affairs come Saturday morning deadline…

Fernando Torres

There was something a little different about Fernando Torres’ display last Sunday. Despite failing to score in the nil-nil draw with Stoke, there was a Joie de vivre about El Nino’s game- he looked hungry and livelier than ever before in a Chelsea shirt and hinted at a return to the form of old.

A home tie against West Brom -a game in which Chelsea scored six goals last season- offer the perfect platform for Torres to spread his wings and fly. Fingers crossed it doesn’t prove a false dawn.

Similar Alternatives: Frank Lampard, Florent Malouda

Wayne Rooney

Rooney is already off the mark this season. Netting at West Brom from open play, Man United’s star forward carried forward his sparkling pre-season displays as the champions opened their account with a win.

A home game against Tottenham isn’t going to be the top fixture on paper to attract investment, but United are deadly at home- they dropped just two points at Old Tarafford all last season. Throw in his spot-kick duties in addition to his overall good form and we envisage there will be a fair few handing him the armband for the final fixture of the gameweek.

Similar Alternatives: Ashley Young, Luis Nani

Darren Bent

The Aston Villa hitman is one of those strikers you buy for a season and not just for Christmas – he’ll have lean weeks but, as the years have shown, will get you the points on a regular enough basis.

A home match with Blackburn Rovers tied into a belief that we think his chances of picking up bonus points could see an increase under the new EA Sports PPI Index, suggests Bent is looking a good proposition for Gameweek 2.

Similar Alternative: Charles N’Zogbia

Leighton Baines

Everton were the other side unable to take part in Gameweek 1. Fortunately, unlike Spurs, they won’t be facing the reigning champions- instead they play host to a QPR side still licking their wounds from a 4-0 battering at Loftus Road last weekend.

Despite a 8.0 price tag hanging round the neck of Leighton Baines, last season’s top-scoring FPL defender has shown he’s clearly capable of producing the same points returns as the majority of midfielders; 5 goals and 11 assists in 2010/11 attests to that.

His forays up and down the left-flank will prove vital for the Toffees and up against a recovering Kieron Dyer (or Bradley Orr), Baines will favour his chances. He’s also a dab hand at set-pieces.

Similar Alternatives: Louis Saha, Tim Cahill

Alternative Alternatives

Grant Holt – A kind first home fixture for a penalty-taking captain of this newly-promoted side.

Scott Sinclair – Remove the club captaincy and we’ve got a rinse and repeat case of the above.

Steven Fletcher – The Wolves striker has been all about goals when given time on the pitch. He now seems more secure and will be hosting Fulham.

The poll is now hot off the presses and awaiting your votes, as you can see we think the strikers are going to rule supreme this week – but who are we to know? The evidence of your accumulated clicking fingers will tell us in a couple days time exactly where favour lies.

    My new favourite...

ladies and gentlemen here's Wolves Stephen Hunt according to the members area.

Stephen Hunt is a British writer now living in Spain. He is best-known for a series of fantasy novels with Steampunk elements known as the Jackalian series, whose central setting is a nation somewhat resembling Victorian England named the Kingdom of Jackals.

..always thought there was something of the night about our Stephen.

And another from the members area

    Here's Ben Watson from Wigan.

Ben Watson (born 1956) is a British writer on music and culture of Marxist views, known especially for his books on Frank Zappa.

Watson is well-known for his writing in The Wire , as well as the author of numerous books, often entailing studies of popular culture from a Marxist perspective.

...a move to a left wing role looks on the cards then.

I admire your optimism! Hope you're right, although it's only 3 points for an assist.
To be honest, I think the likely outcome is one assist, maybe a bonus point or two but no clean sheet. so that'll be 12 points. Still, not too bad

With Smalling and Jones needed in central defence, Evra back on the left and Rafael out, doesnt Fabio look nailed on for the right back position next few weeks? Picked up bonus in GW1 and tend to nick a goal now and then too.. hard fixtures but he plays for MU afterall..

no one who goes to arsenal sees the majority of posession, not many teams score more than 1 there (WBA only one ;ast year?)
arsenal have got a keeper they believe in and vermaelen back, so the defence looks a little strongder than last year - if perhaps rusty and a unit thsat needs more mins together

I've changed my team around so many times, i think its literally a player away from being perfect for me.

    Given (Vorm)

Riise Enrique Kompany Cahill (S Taylor)

    N'Zogbia Watson Larsson Silva (Moses)

    Aguero Rooney (Zamora)

I'm not convinced on watson/larsson combo, i really wanted Sessegnon in my team, due to where he plays etc. Don't want multiple players from same team, in the same position

I'm actually not convinced on Aguero, just yet. I'm very tempted between Carroll, Suarez or Torres at the moment.

    Ok, last one.

Members area player profile cock up pt 1,000

"West Brom's James Morrison AM (born 11 November 1962 in Boorowa, New South Wales) is an Australian jazz musician who plays numerous instruments, but is best known for his trumpet playing. He is a multi-instrumentalist, having performed on the clarinet, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, flugelhorn, bass flugelhorn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and piano. "

...I'm less surprised by his musical ability as I am by the fact that he's the oldest outfield player in premier league history.

I'm going for canadian lawyer Danny Graham up top, with trumpeter James Morrison supporting him. Bit worried about Ashley Williams...what with him being a lady and everything.

its a risk to make baines captain but im willing to take that risk i have bent and torres so if they do score a hat-trick ill have decent points all round anyway
but i think im willing to it could be a monster haul of points for baines

    1 assist 4 points
    1 clean sheet 6 points
    bonus 3 points

im looking at 26 points for baines the least...

lamps on pens and chelsea due one after last week
Roo is main man and will score against anyone
Bent easy fixture and goals per game ratio 2nd to none and bound to pick up bonus as bonus heavily weighed in favour of goalscorers

Bent, good fixtures. for the next few weeks, a depleted blackburn without Nelsen & Emerton with Samba coming back from a groin injury and Givet coming back from illness. Salgado always a liability (pens) and Blackburn always concede a few at Villa park, could be a very good shout. He's getting the armband here and a possible punt for a Hat-trick
