As we all likely know by now, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) have granted unlimited transfers to reassess and fix our Fantasy outfits ahead of Gameweek two.

Given such freedom to pick and choose new teams as we please, Fantasy managers should be ready and willing to select a captain who will come out of the traps kicking and screaming.

David Silva topped affairs last week and fortunately did voters proud – the problem was that the Man City playmaker was one of only a small handful of players to score points in this low-scoring Gameweek. Here’s a few we think might top affairs come Saturday morning deadline…

Fernando Torres

There was something a little different about Fernando Torres’ display last Sunday. Despite failing to score in the nil-nil draw with Stoke, there was a Joie de vivre about El Nino’s game- he looked hungry and livelier than ever before in a Chelsea shirt and hinted at a return to the form of old.

A home tie against West Brom -a game in which Chelsea scored six goals last season- offer the perfect platform for Torres to spread his wings and fly. Fingers crossed it doesn’t prove a false dawn.

Similar Alternatives: Frank Lampard, Florent Malouda

Wayne Rooney

Rooney is already off the mark this season. Netting at West Brom from open play, Man United’s star forward carried forward his sparkling pre-season displays as the champions opened their account with a win.

A home game against Tottenham isn’t going to be the top fixture on paper to attract investment, but United are deadly at home- they dropped just two points at Old Tarafford all last season. Throw in his spot-kick duties in addition to his overall good form and we envisage there will be a fair few handing him the armband for the final fixture of the gameweek.

Similar Alternatives: Ashley Young, Luis Nani

Darren Bent

The Aston Villa hitman is one of those strikers you buy for a season and not just for Christmas – he’ll have lean weeks but, as the years have shown, will get you the points on a regular enough basis.

A home match with Blackburn Rovers tied into a belief that we think his chances of picking up bonus points could see an increase under the new EA Sports PPI Index, suggests Bent is looking a good proposition for Gameweek 2.

Similar Alternative: Charles N’Zogbia

Leighton Baines

Everton were the other side unable to take part in Gameweek 1. Fortunately, unlike Spurs, they won’t be facing the reigning champions- instead they play host to a QPR side still licking their wounds from a 4-0 battering at Loftus Road last weekend.

Despite a 8.0 price tag hanging round the neck of Leighton Baines, last season’s top-scoring FPL defender has shown he’s clearly capable of producing the same points returns as the majority of midfielders; 5 goals and 11 assists in 2010/11 attests to that.

His forays up and down the left-flank will prove vital for the Toffees and up against a recovering Kieron Dyer (or Bradley Orr), Baines will favour his chances. He’s also a dab hand at set-pieces.

Similar Alternatives: Louis Saha, Tim Cahill

Alternative Alternatives

Grant Holt – A kind first home fixture for a penalty-taking captain of this newly-promoted side.

Scott Sinclair – Remove the club captaincy and we’ve got a rinse and repeat case of the above.

Steven Fletcher – The Wolves striker has been all about goals when given time on the pitch. He now seems more secure and will be hosting Fulham.

The poll is now hot off the presses and awaiting your votes, as you can see we think the strikers are going to rule supreme this week – but who are we to know? The evidence of your accumulated clicking fingers will tell us in a couple days time exactly where favour lies.

He's an oop, but with Odem coming back from injury (and Long signed) I doubt he'll be for much longer. A baggies fan on here earlier said he'll probably be rotated with Gera.

It's a guess but we've got plenty of midfielders and whilst Tchoyi has flashes of genius he's incosistent and unpredictable (not always a bad thing, but it makes him a better impact sub than regular starter...)

What are people's thoughts on the first week's points, could we be seeing a return to the old days were defenders were excellent value for money? Bonus points seem to be easier for them this season as well.

I'm heading down the 5-2-3 formation. There are plent of value midfielders this season with a star player in every promoted side and Moses looking promising.

I was thinking pre-season that defenders were being underrated (stats/value wise), irrespective of BPs. Many will argue that it is too early to tell and BPs will "even out", which is true... that said, FBs especially will receive a boost it seems.
It also seemed that MID (+FOR) particularly took a price rise pounding... although i may be wrong.

Boycees...I was proper chuffed we got to start again. (My 54 score was less than impressive)

Now it seems the spoilt for choice option is just as annoying as my first week score! I dont wanna find myself "following scores" My team is a million times better than it was, but I dont wanna trap myself into "chasing points"

This Aguero business for instance. Tevez is still there. Man city don't play 2 up front...and if they do that means Yaya moves back to DMC and Silva gets pushed out further wide. (although still a fantastic player FPL or otherwise)

Ive never trusted fernando in a chelsea shirt. He is, however in my team. Im also finding i'm picking players for this GW and not the whole season.

How are people choosing? Long term or just instant points. The whole point of this FANTASY SCOUT post by ANDY is too catch them points straight outta the blocks.

My theory is that 3 massive strikers are the key, but then im judging off one GW and thats silly. Silva MUST be in the team. I find myself with CAHILL and NZOG...they're similar FPL players. Now have NO united cover as im Aguero / Torres and Suarez up front.

Any thoughts. I really wanna go with Fletcher up front but dont know who to sacrifice.

    Fletcher / Torres / Aguero

    Torres / Rooney / Suarez

    Fletcher / Suarez / Rooney

    I just dont know! THOUGHTS?

Thats my actual front three. Rooney, Fletcher are long-term I think. Both are assured of their place and confident. Aguero, is a question mark that I will answer in the coming weeks. I have no AVL cover, but only Bent and Nzog are worthy there. Tough choice you have.

i like the 3 big hitters up front strategy, but then i can't squeeze in any Everton cover and I think their fixtures ask for it, even if it's more short term than long term. you still need to get that value up and Aguero and Suarez are guaranteed to increase in the short term. not too sure about Torres...

Man! There's so much uncertainty and so few striker spots available! I think it's almost more a question of undifferentials - players who you don't have but everyone else does - rather than the conventional differentials.

Anyone brave enough not to have Suarez? Otherwise you're still gonna have to go without at least one of Aguero, Torres, Rooney...

Not to mention the differentials - RVP, Bent, Drogba, Dzeko, Carroll. All good bets in themselves, but are you prepared to bet against the masses?

      Yep a real quagmire, Tedster.

I've had a change of plan and gone with Bent 😯 Aguero and Suarez.

Malouda and Bosingwa the CHS investment.

      Downgraded Baines too. 😯

Cheeky punt on Cleverly in midpark 😕

      You?

I'm undecided. And I just can't hide it.

      Settled on Aguero, Rooney, Fletcher.

But what of Carrol/Suarez and the crappy Arsenal defence? Torres looking sharper? Dzeko finally feeling confident, and proven goalscorers Drogba and Bent? Nevermind the mid-price choices who will be the top scorers of their team (Odem, Fletcher, etc), and also what about Holt?

      Just pick three.

Bent has the much better fixtures, but with Mr. Defensive in charge I don't think he'll get a load of chances.

    Couple of percentage chance questions.....

    Bosingwa starting?
    Torres scoring?
    Bent scoring?
    Van Persie scoring?

    I think 65%, 45%, 40%, 40%

          Nope.

Just going off the recent statistical facts as quoted above: 1 goal in 20 games.

10% was being very generous imo.

          Plus the Drog/rote factor tbc.

I did have him in my team though. Then I thought that Bent has just a good as chance of notching and saves me 1 mill.

This gives me a better midpark which was a haven of budgeritos 😉

Yes - need at least one big hitter in there. Maybe downgrade Sinclair to N Dyer and Baines to say J Erique or downgrade one one of your strikers to someone like Holt.

Actually Baines to another 6.0 def will allow you to upgrade Nzog to Silva

But for 4 weeks only you can kinda justify a higher price. Osman doesn't seem great value at 7.0 and whilst Saha is great for 7.5 if he's fit, I'd spend the next month sacrificing small fury animals in a vain atempt to apease the gods of dodgey knees and hamstrings.
