Patience, the antithesis of our oft-used phrase ‘knee jerk’ is the theme that runs through our latest Podcast episode.

Mark is adamant that he’s set to stand by his men, despite paltry returns thus far. Having missed out on the Wayne Rooney hat-tricks though, can he really afford to risk another avalanche?

Also in discussion this week – dubious pinball assists and Dzeko rotation pains, all blended with the usual mix of moans, speculative opinions and random musings that make up the regular ScoutCast offering.

I wouldnt double up on Arsenal coverage. Maybe Arteta -> Mata

I know this week is tough against United, but I think he still has a great chance at creating/scoring

Stick with your gut though. I myself have Arteta, but no RVP

Will always be a huge rotation risk given the number of options Chelsea have upfront.

And AVB seems more uncertain about his team selection every week.

A risk for sure but I think he'll have a good season, and will be up there with any other striker you get for that price.

AVB threw him straight into the starting line-up once he was back from suspension which has to be a positive sign. Also, he's a lot younger than Drogba and Anelka so will need less rest.

I personally think Mata-Torres-Sturridge is going to be his preferred attacking 3, assuming Torres remembers where the net is at some point.

If you saw the goal he scored at the weekend I think it shows he has the quality to deserve a start. And the word is AvB rates him very highly. And with Drog injured and Torres mis-firing I see him getting a run

Depending on Suarez performance the next few games I think I may well be Suarez > Sturridge. And I'm a Liverpool fan....

I am amazed so many are doubting Suarez. The guy has played beautifully for the past couple of weeks without luck, as soon as the luck comes (he is very much due) a huge points haul is just around the corner.

I'm not saying he's not a great player. He is. He's scoring 1 in two which is typically a great return for an EPL striker

But is he worth £3m more than Sturridge if he gets a start with Chelsea good fixtures coming up? I dont know.....

Sturridge is a good FPL player, had him last season at Bolton and performed strongly. I think he is a rotation risk more so than Suarez. Depends on your team balance I guess... having Ronney and two rotation risks up front (ie MANC forward and Sturridge) leaves you exposed should the planets align and they both rotate out the same week.
Think of the $3 mil extra as insurance?
A front three of Rooney, Suarez and Sturridge is a solid play and I definately will have my eye on that come WC time during next International break.

    Hello guys,

Is it insane to consider captaining Adebayor this week? Can be a major differential if he pulled it off.. Anyone know if he wil be taking penalties?

What’s the thoughts about Nzog? Can see him playing further upfront with Heskey out and about time he deliver some score playing former clubs? Or no more love for him n ditch?

Also, who would you suggest playing between Simpson and Bos this week?

Sounds like too much of a gamble. People seem to forget that "differential" works in both directions!

N'Zog is obviously not performing but the mid-low price bracket MFs have been delivering so poorly that I wouldn't get rid for anyone unless it's a proven heavyweight i.e. Silva, Young etc.

Personally, if you had any Man City big hitters I would be captaining them instead of Ade

As for N'Zog, I backed him early in the season but this week he's up against a team that has only conceded one goal in four games and hist form has been poor poor poor...

I would proabably go Simpson over Boswinga. Bos has a maybe a small chance of scoring a goal (as he likes a big dig from outside the box) but on probability I think Simpson has a better chance of a clean sheet than Bos

Been undecided who to captain from Rooney, Silva and RVP. Its just that everyone in my league will captain Silva or Rooney since they dont have anyone else. So Im leaning between RVP and Adebayor to chase the 40 points Im trailing.

Nzog I dont mean sticking up with him. Just cant afford if his price keeps on falling.

Thing is I reckon Newcastle's cleansheets has been very lucky. But then again also not comfortable playing a Chelsea def with ManUtd in that kinda form.

        Thanks for the input.

Adebayor is a risk, but it could pay off (I doubt it but you never know?)
I have had Nzogbia since the GW2 free for all and I feel obliged to keep him for at least one more week. Hopefully he play up on the right of the front 3 with Hesky out.
Simpson or Bosingwa is a coing toss, I am playing neither and going with Warnock, Brown and Baines if that helps?

      You and me both.

You've got the main players for this week so you might as well save the freebie.

Yaya is out for me next week. Ideally for Mata provided I am confident of starts.

Sturridge is a liability imo. Arteta needs time and is best monitored for now particularly from a ff perspective.

One of the mysteries of the week is the number of people booting Suarez. Crazy.

Mata and Suarez would be my choices for Bent and Yaya.

You need Young. I thought of Nani as an alternative but I think he is liable to some rotation.

I'm not keen on Arteta; not from a ff perspective. I don't he'll rack up the points like he once did at EVE. Injury prone and playing for a team out of form, he makes very little appeal at present.

Have you considered a front 3 of Rooney, Suarez and Odemwinygthingy?

This should allow you Mata alongside Young. If Jecko is raotated, this could be the ideal scenario.

if my front end are Rooney, Suarez and Odem, i can upgrade Yaya to Mata.
and can change Young to Silva or Walcott if he is out of form.
this looks more better, but need required 3 transfers.
maybe this week save for transfer 1st.

I've just noticed something a bit odd as far as price rises go... look at Rooney compared to Aguero this week.

Rooney has had 88,644 transfers in and 2,024 out, giving him an NTI of 88,620. His ownership is 46.5%.

Aguero has had 101,081 in and 2,965 out, giving him an NTI of 98,116. His ownership is 32.5%.

So despite Aguero having a higher NTI, and being owned by less people, he hasn't gone up in price at all, whereas Rooney has gone up 0.2m this week.

Doesn't this undermine the whole premise that crack the code/TFPL base their predictions on?

I'm no expert but I think you've missed 2 factors. nti doesn't reset each gw, so rooney hit his target nti immediately this gw. Aguero was sitting on 100k nto and surely on the verge of a drop so he needs to get 100k + his target nti to rise.
Also I don't think ownership % has any effect on rises, only drops.

I thought about bringing Baines in and captaining him also, just not too confident on Everton to be honest!
I know it's Wigan and all, but they haven't been playing that badly.
Much depends on the rest of Everton's players getting on the end of a Baines assist.
I must admit though, i would like to have Baines in my team this week, but it would mean a points hit, then after this weekend his fixtures don't look too good!

The thing about Everton though is that they always put in good performances against the big 4 teams, yes, they have hard fixtures but I actually believe they have a better chance of nicking a 1-0 win and keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea/Liverpool/Man City then a pathetic team like Wigan

Pretty much the perfect squad for me except Taarabt. QPR have only scored once, failing against Wigan, Bolton and Newc. Despite their signings they still have nobody who can stick it in consistently at this level. Surely Walters a better option?

The options of captaining an Everton player is mere differential purposes. If you captain one these players and they fail to deliver as much or more than the big hitters, its going to increase the gap even further than it already is. Go with your gut feeling, form and fixture combined.

Rooney (c) and Baines have saved my bacon the last 2 gw's so I know what you mean.

However, my mids need changing so I'm not overly enthralled with my team right now.

May just ride out this gw and then see what I can do with 2 frees next week.

This week looks like being a low scoring week so I don't see any benefit in doing a transfer to a player who has a good matchup this week but a poor run of games afterwards (Bolton).

I wouldn't worry too much about world ranking at the moment though.

Many of the people who haven't already wildcarded will probably do so after gw7. Scores will start to even off after that.

I think Mancini will start Dzeko & Tevez in the game against Fulham. Think he'll be rotating Dzeko, Aguero & Tevez giving them 2 out of every 3 games till he gets him best combination for the big games. He's already said that at the moment Balotelli will have to get used to starting from the bench.

Looks that way since only Aguero played the full 90 mins on Wednesday night.

Dzeko's 4 goal haul never stopped him from being benched next game so Aguero's Barton isn't guaranteed to save him from same fate.

I guess so that's prevented me from getting either of them. Been relying on Silva as my only City attacking coverage. If one of them picks an injury I'll swoop for the other.

Ya, I plan to replace Dzeko with Silva.

Less rotation worry. Can get a cheaper striker who will play every week instead.

Planning to WC after gw7 and someone like K Davies looks good to pick up as a 3rd striker then.

        Barton?

The City striker rotation is giving me a real headache. I mean, of course I'd like Eddy Jecko in my team but if he's only going to play parts of two-thirds of the games then it means looking elsewhere and missing his big scores. Wingie is the best alternative but would Wingie outscore Jecko over the course of the season? It's 50-50 I'd say at the moment.

Will Walcott & Jecko outscore Young & Wingie over GW 11 - 20?

See below, Billy. Auto text turned hatrick into Barton!!!

Like you said, I have the Dzeko problem now. One of 2 foolish moves I've made already this season (panic buying Dzeko with one of my 2 freebies middle of International break when his price kept rising, t'other being selling Silva with the GW2 free WC!)

I think people in my situ are better off shipping out Dzeko and replacing with Silva or Nasri and getting a reliable but regular striker like, say, Adebayor or K Davies (from GW8 onwards) etc.

I'd swap Dzeko for Odem if its worth anything, but probably would wait until next week to do it as it looks like Dzeko will start against Fulham-who have played a European game yesterday so will not be fresh and rested on Sunday.

I think there's yet another factor to consider: De Jong.

First game of the season, at home to Swansea, Mancini set up basically as he did last season- with one (Dzeko) up top, and a midfield 5 of De Jong, Barry, Toure, Silva and Johnson in midfield.

The lack of a midfield destroyer (De Jong) was clearly a problem at Napoli, so when De Jong's back we could definitely see a reversion to this system but with Nasri instead of Johnson. Perhaps this would only be for "tougher" matches, but still- you're then looking at one striker spot up for grabs.
