Injuries

On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined “for a few weeks“ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Gonna be my first week where I gotta really think about captain choice!
Adebayor - Sure to score verse his old club with a leaky defence
Aguero/Silva - Up against a useless Blackburn defence
    Nani - Norwich at home!

I am holding firm with Rooney at the moment but can certainly see the argument from both sides. However, I all be without any Manu for the Norwich game if he is not fit. Is it worth a 4 pointer to upgrade Walcott to Nani?

It feels like a sensible move but how should I fund it. I was thinking Brunt to Moses to leave the following front 7 for next week (assuming Rooney not fit)

    Dyer Moses SWP Silva Nani

    Adebayor RVP

    Thanks

        chemikills says:

I just bought him in for Dyer partly because of fixtures. But also because Moses has a very high shot count for a midfielder of his price and with 6/11 on target so far. 6 on target is really good for anyone under 8m.

In fact before this week, Taarabt was the only midfielder with more shots on target than Moses and under 8m 😉

So you might be able to upgrade him, but I very much doubt you can get better at his price and considering the fixtures. I would keep him ^.^

I know that, but he is still unable to produce.
What happens when he starts to produce less shots? I still think Dyer is a better shout to be honest, but I will be gladly mistaken as I like Moses

    walcott, tarabt, brunt, moses, sinclairs

    rvp, rooney, dzeko

    I have 2 options i'm considering

    Walcott to VDV

or (for a 4 point hit)

    Dzeko to Adebayor

Crappy week. I took a risk, taking a hit to bring in Odemwingie. Been taking a hit for the past 3 gameweeks, all paying off. Except this one, stupid WBA.

Not the best week, but V.Persie (c) saved me.

    2 questions lads

    1. do you think there will be much in it points wise between rooney and ageuro by the end of the season ?

    2. Silva apart is Aguero the least likely city attacker to be rotated

    cheers

2 good questions, difficult to answer with any certainty of course!

Points wise there wont be much in it and I even think Aguero may pip Rooney come the end of the season.

Seems that way at the moment. Aguero seemingly good for 70 mins at least every game so far would suggest he's safer than the other strikers. For now I think Aguero and Dzeko is the preferred starting pair but i highly doubt it will remain that way longer term.

I doubt he'd be left out against Stoke away as a hoax, that's one of the most difficult fixtures in the prem season. The severity of it is may be exaggerated. I've taken him out for Aguero. They're both going to score a ton of points but Aguero is 1.0 cheaper.

Hes just not performing, and the Liverpool team is just not up there with the best. So the City, Man U, Tottenham, Chelsea strikers are just better value. Even the goal he scored yesterday, looked very close to hitting the post.

Hes an awesome player but a hat trick looks far away, maybe Gerrard will make things better. Well see...

Will take Rooney out if its confirmed that hell miss Norwich, next 2 fixtures wont be too high scoring IMO either so.

HAHAH WTF! You must be suffering from old age. Your memory. Suarez is a good striker. Can be world class when in form but hasn't played at the top level for long enough to be classed as world class especially after playing in an inferior league like hollands.

Adebayor has a lower scoring ratio (1 in 2) playing for arsenal, man city and real madrid. 3 top teams and now a terrific start at spurs.

With that said and adebayor a mill+ less than suarez with better fixtures ud be a fool to put suarez in ahead of the gypsy.

Bob/Jack. Shove it. I believe over the next few games al be proved correct 🙂

      SAme problem as me, Phil.

I've had Rooney from the start and if I sell him it'll cost me more to get him back.

The obvious move is Rooney to Van Persie but it'll still cost me about £0.4m that I haven't got to change it back again.

Should be wildcarding in GW7 so if I took Rooney out and then he's back again for GW8 its a waste. I expect he'll miss Norwich game but after that he has 2 weeks break as he won't play for England so he'll prob only miss 1 game.

      Stuff it, I'm keeping him.
