On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined “for a few weeks“ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

Faith in Suarez has been vindicated , should pick up at least a couple of bonus points.

Dont think he will drop in price now , last few hours a few been buying him in

Average points so far = 32

With 2 games left, what's your prediction for the overall average points?

I'll go early 41-42 as I expect most players in most teams will have now played.

Yep - considering the teams left to play are Norwich, Sunderland, QPR & Villa. Maybe 1 player left for most (Given, SWP, Taarabt...) and maybe a sub for Rooney (Brown, De Laet etc)

        I have 3 - Given, Brown & Agbonlahor.

I have 2... Brown and Taarabt.

I actually forgot about the BPs so early 40s I think will be about right.

I'm still hoping to be near 60 but Taarabt really is going to have to rip it up + Sunderland cleanie.

I need Agbonlahor to score + Villa & Sunderland cleanies. Quite possible.

If I do Rooney->Aguero, that will leave me with the team below and 1.2 in the bank. Anyone seeing a hit that will benefit the team? Want United cover vs. Norwich, but they got hard games after that, and don't think taking out Mata/Silva for a United midfielder will be good in the long run. Thoughts?

    Vorm (Krul)
Bosingwa Brown Enrique/Ward (De Laet Ward/Enrique)
Mata Silva Taraabt Brunt/Dyer (Brunt Dyer)
    Aguero(c) RVP(v) Adebayor

Need a decent defender...(better than De Laet!)

    Kompany or M.Richards?

Or save cash and get Brown?

    Defence is:
    Krul - Vorm
    Bosingwa - Enrique - Simpson - N.Taylor - De laet

    Thanks

Not a bad shout. Although, Arsenal defence have let a lot of goals in. Do you think they have turned the corner now?

Also, not much attacking potential - never had a goal or assist according to FPL history

I think you need Man City defensive cover IMO, and Kompany is nailed on but Richards has been looking sharp so a tough one. Personally I prefer knowing I've got a solid defender that always starts

What to do with my front line of RVP, Dzeko and Rooney?

Thinking RVP to Aguero this week and Dzeko to Adebayor next?
But surely Adebayor is a great pick for the game against Arsenal? But then again he could either be brilliant or get sent off.
    What about Suarez?
And Rooneys injured so maybe I should take him out if its as serious as a few weeks?

So many decisions, I hate life

That was such a bad challenge by Torres.

So bad in fact I don't think his feet were anywhere near Gower and his trailing arm may have taken the man out?

Red card probably right as it was a two footed lunge... but a bit odd.

No. Many will knee jerk, and if he misses Norwich, then coupled with the international break, he will easily go down 0.2m before he returns, if not 0.3m.

If you sell, you sell him for 12.2. So I reckon you would lose 0.1 max.

I'm encouraging common sense. Not making a transfer based on fear of "losing" (why not just say you actually gained something?) under 1/500 of your budget is simply crazy.

As I've said earlier, if Rooney is out "just a week" - I'll be selling him.

What he said was... "anyone getting rid of him is basically saying goodbye for good"

              This is bollocks.

If I sell Wayne Rooney tomorrow the 0.2 I've lost (or gained) is not going to stop me buying him again in, say, gameweek 17. Or be any reason as to why I shouldn't do it, either.

If you want the player back the next week (which incidentally, I personally won't in Rooney's case) that's a whole different matter and not what I was contesting at all.

For me it's probably Leon Best, Bosingwa, RVP, Vorm, Simpson, Silva, Dyer.

The players I'm thinking I need to get rid of are: Taarabt and De Laet.

Rooney himself (on Twitter) said he hopes to be OK for Tuesday. It sounds like it is very minor. Fergie will probably keep him out on Tuesday and the Norwich game, meaning that he will be pulled out of the International, and be back for the next PL game at Anfield fresh as a daisy.

It's on ESPN but not until late (maybe 3am), I think I'll sky plus it and watch tomorrow. Jones is easily one of the most exciting fighters of the past 5 years and Rampage is just a beast. Should be good

Silva hit the post and an offside goal. That's just cruel.
