On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined “for a few weeks“ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

Frequently asked questions are generally answered in the section title FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). Thanks for coming out.

In other news, everyone sell, sell, sell Rooney. Then, I can buy him back cheaply when he's fit again. Thanks.

Many and lots. I knew my boy Bale would come good. Modric was making eyes at me, but I stayed strong. Bale to get 12 goals and 10 assists this year? OK.

Just did Dzeko and Rooney out for Adebayor and Aguero in. 4 point hit.

    Feelin' really good about it.

Rooney won't be back to 90 minutes bangin' in goals for a while reading in between the lines of Fergie. FPL moves on...

I always look at the line-up transfers before I hit confirm. If they look good, I go for it. Dzeko and Rooney out for Ade and Agu is a good move. Ade is 100% certain to score against the gooners. Spurs to win 3-1. Bale with a goal and and assist. Get him in, too.

i'd worry about dzeko v blackburn next week. if he starts of course. arsenal should have put at least 5 past them last week and newcastle cruised to a 3-1 win this week

Dzeko sinking down the pecking order . He far from certain to start next week, even if he does his form seems to have dipped back to his normal useless self.

        Evening all.
        1) Price changes happening tonight? A few times on weekends they haven't.
        2) In light of SAF comnents, can we be virtually certain Roon won't return to haunt us next week? Or the next?
        3) Does Torres sending off mean Sturridge run in team?
        4) Is Dzeko useless now?

          1) Yes. It seems to work regularly now.
          2) It's too early to conclude. But, for Man Utd, Norwich game should be winnable w/o Rooney.
          3) Need to check Sturridge injury status. For me, I hope it's Didier time.
          4) He's still get one of the best MF service behind but people seem to lost their faith in him..

          That's my thoughts..

Mmm question 1 just got answered for me by FPL and you...

            2) I think I'm gonna sell Rooney and decide whether to take him back during the international break (when I wildcard). If I get someone who actually plays I'll have serious differential on players too cautious to. So assuming he doesn't play, Berbatov and Owen, or Welbeck, or what?! I'm seriously tempted to risk picking him against Norwich. I think he can do it... if he plays.

            3) Looks like Sturridge is out too long.

            4) I said I'd give Dzeko one last chance - getting rid of him, just going nowhere. Cheap striker wanted to enable midfield upgrades... Agbonlahor, Best, Ba?

              Re:

              2) Do you mean to risk picking Rooney against Norwich ? If he plays, I believe he will score loads again.. But I'm just thinking SAF may not play him and keep his status of "injured" during international break. Personally, I think he will return in Liverpool match.

Jokingly.. It sounds like we're gonna see 5 goals from Berbatov again.. 😀

              4) If you still hold Dzeko by now, you may wanna play him with Blackburn next week. Btw, I understand your feeling.. Villa meet Wigan next week, but Man City away to Man City on GW8. If you WC during the break, you can get rid him during that.

                2) Agree with every point there. I guess Berba is the obvious bet, I shouldn't do something stupid like try to save money picking Owen and find he stays on the bench. I need the points and yes I remember how many Berba got me last year in THAT match!

                4) Yeah you know how I feel. Blackburn are awful at the back and I see goals which Dzeko may be involved with. OR he may not start. OR Aguero will grab them instead. OR he might suck again. I just think I've given him too many chances and watched Aguero outscore him week after week.

            Young>Nani probably a sideways move
Rooney>Aguero or Drogba makes most since I assume you have Nani so Sturridge>drogba is your best move.
On Rooney, I lose nothing if he drops to 12.4, so I'll probably wait to later this GW (unless Drogba or Aguero looks like they're going up)

        Just read BBC news..

Wayne Rooney will miss Manchester United's next two matches, according to manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who believes he will be 'out for more than a week'.

SAF: "I think he'll be out for more than a week."

Rooney could also be doubtful for England's final Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on 7 October if he misses United's only two games before Fabio Capello names his squad.

As England is 6 point ahead and +10 goal diff., imo.. SAF will keep Rooney injured status and rest him from now until after international break. Roon should come back in the game with Liverpool on 15 Oct. With quality of Man Utd squad, they should be able to play Norwich w/o Rooney.

        What do you think?

Goal difference doesn't matter, it goes on head-to-head. If Montenegro win both their games, they'll have a better head-to-head record than us and qualify.

If Rooney is fit enough, he'll want to play for England. I agree that he won't be risked against Norwich if there's any doubt about his hamstring.

Thank you for the correction. I just know it's H2H.. 😳

So, next game of England away match to Montenegro is a good chance to be 100% qualified.

Rooney is surely wanna play for England if he's fit.

In my opinion, Rooney will most likely to miss out one game only. Please take note that there will be an international break after GW7. He will have more than enough time to recover. So for those who plan to transfer him out, think twice. Thanks.

I'm tempted to get Drogba in for bol, EVE, qpr, rather than Rooney's ---, liv, MCI. Rooney will drop in price quickly over the intl break if he misses the Norwich game, too.

With the crazy price move in this season, I agree that the quick drop should be seen if the confirmation of no Rooney in Norwich game come early.. 😡

Rooney will probably only miss one game, but all the sheep will drop him like a stone, so he will probably lose .3-.4, not sure if I want to lose that much value at a point where I am trying to build team value, toughie.

I feel like.. The season is just excitedly starting this week.

The move on Rooney could potentially turn things around in mini-league and overall status.. 😉

Man Utd with a tricky fixture during these three weeks are really interesting.

Not so rubbish, would get rid of Dzeko dough, for Ade probably.

Thanks - I think I have been a bit unlucky. I agree - the forward line is definitely the biggest issue.

Chelsea, City and United are all playing leaky defences with weak midfields likely to be overrun, so definitely want to load up on their strikers. All three have uncertain striker lineups due to injury (Roonpig), suspension (Torres) and form (Dzeko subbed off for Balotelli). Who's the likeliest to play and which will be scoring the goals?

        Chelsea: Anelka, Drogba, Lukaku?
        City: Aguero, Dzeko? Tevez? Balotelli?
United: Welbeck? Hernandez? Berbatov? Owen? Macheda? ... etc

Rooney injury will be a terrible scenario to all owners of him. However there will be a lot of price changes and probably he will be close again to 12.2 but this is just a prediction. Not sure yet is it worth to get in transfers and risk a hits and point for some moves.

        Rooney - Drogba
        RvP or Suarez - Adebayor
        Brunt - VdV

Chelsey and Tot have a good run of fixtures imao but to risk more being without Aguero beast make me feeling bad.
