Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez miss training this morning as Fergie hints at rotation for the Champions League match with Basel. Arsenal reportedly receive a boost over The Walcott’s fitness, while Harry Redknapp hints at his best starting XI. Roy Hodgson admits to weekend tactical blunders, while the injury worries mount up for Steve Kean before this weekend’s showdown with Man City. Here’s some Monday morning Scribbles folks:

Harry Redknapp’s post-match comments after Spurs 2-1 win were perhaps a little intriguing. Jermain Defoe missed out with a stomach bug, allowing a fit-again Rafael Van der Vaart to come back in the starting XI just behind Emmanuel Adebayor. With Luka Modric and Gareth Bale on the flanks and Sandro alongside Scott Parker in central midfield, Redknapp admitted:

We’ve got the makings of a really good side this season. The team I put out against Wigan is not far from my best. We’re very, very strong.

QPR extended their unbeaten run to three games after a late, late Richard Dunne own goal rescued a point for Neil Warnock’s team at Loftus Road. The home side dominated possession and fired off the most shots but were somewhat wasteful in front of goal- Warnock again kept faith in Jay Bothroyd but the misfiring frontman has still yet to break his scoring duck this season. Two yellow cards for Armand Traore means the left-back will miss next week’s game at Fulham and Warnock was nothing less than candid over the player’s actions:

I thought it was a disgrace. Not the referee, the player. I am going to fine him as much as I can. Total amateur Sunday league sending off. What Traore did, that’s not clever at all.

Alex McLeish had to make do without Darren Bent after a groin strain kept the striker sidelined. Barry Bannan started his third match in a row and grabbed the Villa opener from the penalty spot- the young Scot has now overtaken Charles N’Zogbia’s Fantasy haul for the season, though may struggle to hold down his place in the first tem when Emile Heskey returns from a hamstring problem. It’s a case of glass half-full or glass half-empty for Villa- yes, they still remain unbeaten after six games but on the other hand, just one win leaves them four points off the drop zone.

Steve Kean doesn’t have his injury worries to seek right now. With a rampant Man City due to visit Ewood Park next weekend, the Blackburn boss admitted he has worries over defensive trio Scott Dann, Gael Givet and Michel Salgado after the 3-1 defeat at Newcastle.

Roy Hodgson admits his tactics were at fault in the first half of the West Brom-Fulham game on Saturday. The Baggies played a 4-3-3 system Hodgson had trialed in the midweek Carling Cup clash with Everton before moving back to 4-4-2 but their managers was less than impressed with the performance:

It didn’t work particularly well and I didn’t even recognise some of the players in terms of the number of times we gave the ball away.

Brendan Rodgers, on the other hand, has vowed to maintain his preferred passing game, regardless of the outcome. Swansea were seen off by ten-man Chelsea at the weekend and found the net in an away game for the first time this season in the 4-1 defeat but their manager stated:

We always try and keep the mentality of the players. They’re a fantastic group. They play a really brave way. We don’t thump the ball up the pitch, we try to create goals and score goals. In our first season we won’t be coming to Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal and defining how we end up. Our home games will be critical.

Ahead of Man United’s Champions League home game with Basel, Sir Alex Ferguson has been talking of giving some fringe players a run out. A draw in Benfica was, arguably, the most difficult tie of their group and with Fergie targeting ten points to see his side through to the knockout stages, he said:

Maybe I’ll use some of them against Basel. I do need to get all the squad moving. I think there will be changes on Tuesday.

Reports suggest Theo Walcott’s knee problem is nothing to concern Arsene Wenger. The winger limped out of the proceedings in the game with Bolton on Saturday but early indications suggest he may well be fit to start the midweek Champions League clash with Olympiakos.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I hate having Wigan players because when you say 'Hey, any Wigan fans around to give me a bit of advice'? You are always met with a wall of silence. So can ANYBODY tell me if Lopez was dropped or injured? 😕

Anyway, the way things are going with Taarabt, I wouldn't be surprised if Barton takes penalties away from him. Hell, even DJ f*cking Campbell is taking direct free kicks before him!

I won't be surprised if he's not on pens, but I'm one who enjoys just watching Taarabt that I'm more than happy to have him in my team...

Now if I was thinking straight at 2am last Tuesday I wouldn't have bought SWP to go with him too. Would be Ramsey instead, but what's done is now done.

        Kenny
Simpson - De Laet - Brown (Ward - Taylor)
Taarabt - Nasri - Silva - Young (Dyer)
        Sturridge - Rooney - RVP(c)

Yes, I've gone for the disgustingly cheap defence tactic. In fairness, it would have been acceptable if Bos and Enrique hadn't got assists. All of Ward (0), Taylor(-1) and Dyer(1) will come in for a grand total of 0pts, which I find quite funny in fairness!

Nasri and Young let me down, and the Sturridge kneejerk last Sunday was stupid.

Ahhh I see, yes, a lot of the top (well selected) defenders seemed to save a lot of face with assists this week considering the lack of clean sheets.

You've still got two left then too - who knows. Both play, get a 0-0 out of it and you'll be well on your way.

It sounds like he'll be out for next week with speculation that SAF is holding him back to get Rooney to miss the international. Seeing they're playing Norwich at home the speculation suggests SAF is regarding the game as a pointless affair to risk Rooney and in turn will use him missing the week to gain clearance from international duties too...

As a FPL coach I'm hanging onto Rooney because it'll be hard getting him back into the squad after with price differentials etc. However playing Drogba this week would be tempting if someone could confirm he's playing.

The only way to make actual cash in this game is to sell after a player has gone up. Bank the .2 now. Yes your teams overall value drops but thats misleading as its not sell price. Even if you have to get him back in in 3 weeks it's worth it. And Rooney does historically score in clumps. And his best ever clump is now over.

Likely to miss Norwich Game according to SAF who you cant trust.

If you dnt like him for Liverpool and Citeh after the International break transfer him out now and get someone else for the next three weeks.

If you think he'll be back to his best and dthink the two transfers to take him out and back in again can be better used elsewhere in your team then stick..

At least thats my understanding of it 🙂

I have him but prob wont decide until Saturday morning in case he has a miraculous recovery

Depends on Rooney's injury situation, and how Hoolahan does tonight.

If Rooney is out for the Norwich game, I'll get rid of him and upgrade one of my cheap midfielders (Taarabt or Hoolahan) to Nani.

Would like to keep him though because I like his potential, especially if he's still on penalties.

2 goals from Bendtner tonight, assisted by Sessegnon would be sweet.

    Krul Vorm
Enrique Bosingwa De Laet Brown Ward
    Mata Silva Taraabt Brunt Dyer
    RVP Adebayor Rooney

If I do Rooney->Aguero that would leave me with no United cover at home to Norwich, but I can't really see it beeing worth dropping Mata or Silva with the fixtures United got after Norwich. Just do this one transfer, or should I get a cheaper forward like Best and do Brunt->Nani for a hit? Thanks

i personally wouldnt keep mata....mata>nani(after u do rooney>aguero) is what i think u shd go....sure united have got tough fixtures but nani's someone who can score against anyone. he is someone who can guarentee u points every week. can't say the same thing about mata, too early to trust him

    one simple question people
do u like the new bonus system or was the previous one better?
i think the previous one was better as it was much more simple. the new system has a few things which benefits full backs and wingers, cm,cdm etc. hardly ever pick bonus points

p.s: please tell me that sessegnon will do SOMETHING for a change!

thought about that but isn't he also a little sore? wellbeck also came to mind and I'm sure he'll do well against Norwich but damn it - where's that crystal ball haha.

guys what to do with taarabt ? no more free kicks and possibly no more penalties . Barton is in charge of everything now !
Taarabt > parker or Larsson ?

      Not Parker
Effort isnt getting BP's this year

I always thought Larsson could be deadly in a good team.
Just a pity for him that Birmingham and now Sunderland are sh*te

Taraabt cant cut it in the PL
He's no better than players priced at less than him, Walters, Ethers, Petrov etc

Best thing going for him was the penos and set piece duties

But, nobody knows if he's off penos or not, all speculation

i think that kicking rooney out just yet is completely insane....its not like he's damaged his ligaments! its just a minor hamstring(i think) and we all know what a quick healer rooney is, if he comes back before sat then its gonna cost everyone whose kicked him out badly. this rooney issue is worth waiting till atleast friday!

Drogba will score more than him anyway even if both start next week, and Drogba is pretty much nailed on to start. I just dont know whether to get him as I already have Sturridge.
