Roberto Mancini has tonight stated that he wants Carlos Tevez “out of the club” after the Argentinian striker refused to play a part from the bench in City’s Champions League tie in Munich.
In a story that will likely run and run over the coming days, the Italian has tonight made a damning statement that appears to break Tevez’ ties with the club once and for all.
“If I have my way he will be out of the club. He’s finished with me…For me it’s a bad situation. In a game like this it’s important for a player to help the team. This is impossible.”
Tevez appeared to be openly objecting to Mancini on the bench in the second-half; the City boss later revealing that he had intended on introducing the striker in an attempt to recover tonight’s 2-0 defeat to an impressive Bayern outfit.
“He refused to come on the pitch. What I said to Carlos is between me, him and the team…I am really disappointed because it is Carlos…We will speak about this with the chairman in the next few days.”
Developments will undoubtedly unfold over the rest of the week, but tonight’s events and particularly Mancini’s comments, will now surely bring the Tevez situation to a head following a turbulent spell at the club.
“If we want to improve as team Carlos can’t play with us. With me, he is finished.”
For Fantasy managers, should Tevez be frozen out at City, it will certainly reduce the uncertainty surrounding the rotation of Mancini’s strikers – presumably cementing Sergio Aguero’s starting role further.
Certainly Aguero’s start for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn looks assured after Mancini also moved to punish Edin Dzeko’s petulance following his substitution in tonight’s game. Dzeko was replaced on 55 minutes by Nigel De Jong, reacting angrily to the decision from his manager. Mancini has stated post-match that the Bosnian striker will now be benched on Saturday as a result.
“Next time he will stay on the bench with me.”
This will come as another blow for Dzeko’s Fantasy owners who have suffered nothing but uncertainty since his four goal spree at White Hart Lane. Mancini will presumably now turn to Mario Balotelli for the Ewood Park trip – a player who has himself courted controversy during his City career.
