The upcoming internationals means domestic news in thin on the ground, though Harry Redknapp has a couple of worries to deal with. Emmanuel Adebayor is struggling with a hamstring strain and Rafael Van der Vaart is not too keen on his role on the wing. Sergio Aguero is declared fit to play in Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers, while Nemanja Vidic reckons he’s good to go for Serbia, too. Elsewhere, Blackburn’s owners Venky’s insist they just want the fans to be happy- ominous new for Steve Kean, then. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles:

A report in The Mirror suggests Emmanuel Adebayor has tweaked a hamstring and is receiving “intensive treatment” ahead of Spurs’ Gameweek eight match at Newcastle. Adebayor apparently suffered the injury during last Sunday’s north London derby win over Arsenal, though the club have yet to confirm this on their official website. Worrying news, though, for his Fantasy owners, given the Togolese’s recent form.

Rafael Van der Vaart has questioned Harry Redknapp’s decision to field him wide right in the Arsenal game. The Dutchman had played just behind Adebayor in a 4-2-3-1 the previous week at Wigan, but Redknapp’s decision to revert to his favoured 4-4-2 formation meant a place on the wing for Van der Vaart- much to his reported chagrin:

You want to play in your preferred position, where you can play to the best of your ability but you can see from the goal they scored that my strength is in the centre- when I have to track back, that does not really benefit my game. I’ll do what the coach asks but I am assuming this will not happen regularly. It’s not something I am very angry about but have a minor irritation with.

Sergio Aguero has been passed fit to play and included in Argentina’s squad for the upcoming games against Venezuela and Chile. Having limped out of Saturday’s game at Blackburn with a groin injury, Man City had expected their star forward to be sidelined for a couple of weeks and fear his involvement in the World Cup qualifiers may aggravate the problem and put him at risk for the home game with Aston Villa in ten days’ time.

Sylvain Marveaux grabbed a brace for Newcastle’s reserves last night in front of an onlooking Alan Pardew. The French winger has struggled to nail down a first-team spot since his summer move from Rennes but a starring role in a 3-0 win over Bolton reserves couldn’t fail to impress his manager. In other news, the club have granted Hatem Ben Arfa compassionate leave after a family member has taken ill.

Reports suggest Nemanja Vidic has declared himself fit ahead of Serbia’s upcoming internationals. The centre half limped out of Man United’s opener with West Brom due to a calf injury and hasn’t played since but is apparently now in contention to return for crucial league clashes against Liverpool and Man City.

As the fans call for Steve Kean’s head, Blackburn owners Venky’s have given the strongest indication yet that they may act decisively over the matter. Rovers have just four points on the board so far this season, with perhaps only the performances of Junior Hoilett cause for much optimism and the board clearly has a ruthless streak, as demonstrated by their sacking of Sam Allardyce within weeks of taking over last season. Co-owner Venkatesh Rao admitted:

I have spoken with Steve and we are working on our weak points. We are going to sit down over the next week and have a very big discussion over this…If the fans are happy, we are happy. It’s like a family and we should know what the fans totally feel about it. We like them to have their voice. That is very important for the club and the feel of it.

        Yeah, I'm really not doing too well at FF this year. I think it's roast dinner today!

        I've been out and about, I've really improved my game this week. My pub is sponsoring the uni cheerleading squad, which is awesome, I was chatting to the hottest one I could find on Monday.

        Do we really think that Moses is going to go the entire season without a goal or an assist then? If not then I'm standing by the fact that he's likely to get something out of BOL FUL BLA in the next five.

          He'll probably trip over his laces and bundle the ball into the net at some point... but he's still been chuffin' useless in the long run.

          ...Where as my punt on Ben Arfa has been glorious 😳 That is the one good thing about Moselli, at least you know he'll get the 90mins.

    Vorm
    Baines Collins Brown De Laet Simpson
    Nani Mata Sinclair Sess Moses
    Agbon RVP Dzeko
    Bank = 0.9 FT = 1 (no hits so far)

    I def want to do Baines > Enrique for 3 weeks. Been waiting for the MU match to get over, and he’s assisted twice in 2 games. Darn!

    which one? worth a hit in these cases?
    A. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, De Laet > Naylor, Sess > Murphy (-12)
    B. Baines > Enrique, Sess > Silva (-4)

          You have to take into account both transfers when you take a hit. As Andy says, you are taking a hit for a defender who will most likely concede in his next game...this is not wise. Sure VDV, Silva etc are necessary but don't let it steal your focus from what you're doing!

    I'm one of those (very few I bet) who was stupid enough to offload Kompany to get the money for Aguero.
    Well of course since that move (with 4 pointer) city have kept two clean sheet and now I would like to get Bad Kompany back to my team.

    Finally the question; Bosingwa to Kompany - Yes or No?
    I think that change can wait till gw10 tough.
    No matter how much I've tried, I can't get that Holy trinity of Kompany, Bosingwa and Enrique..

    Cheers!

      VDV or nothing for Spurs mids in my opinion.
      'Arry was criticised for playing VDV on the wing, and as above VDV wasnt happy and thinks it wont happen too often, and I think their best formation is;
      ------Sandro - Parker------
      Modric-------------Bale
      -----Van der Vaart-----
      --------Adebayor--------

      Fairly close call. Maybe get the least popular as a point of difference so I would chose Sinclair

        thanx for your comment Ryan. I was thinking Petrov might contribute more in some easier forthcoming fixtures, since Sinclair seems quite unpredictable.

      Don't like 3 Swansea Players, Sinclair has been scoring a few and is on pens so may be just as valuable although Bolton do have 'easier' fixtures...I've also just put in VDV, quite like your midfield. I'd stick on those strikers for now definitely, not sure if it looks 1 defender weak at the back?

        I'm also liking his midfield. Mainly because he's got Nasri listed twice!! Wouldn't it be cool if we could actually do that!? Imagine how many people would have done that with Rooney lol.

    Mark, Granville, Andy et al. - thanks for all of the hard work, it looks great! I do think evolving Scout picks would be tasty - are you planning on having any FISO-esque rise/falls on the site?

    P.S. My team is doing shockingly, up to a season high of 1.3m at the moment... at least Saints are doing the business for me in the NPC instead!

          I'm gonna try a 'killer' team without Rooney nor Aguero. I'll have about 10 mil more to spend on midfield than people having both of them. Could be sweet! (or not)

      Brunt Henry are not good options

        Ok well its your team, but since Brunt(since you think hes useful) is not someone you play every game it would be nice to have a decent bench option. And why do you prefer putting in a willa defender before an attacking Liverpool or Tott defender. Also Ward could be any of the 4 mil Simpson, Gabbidon, Boyota, One Wes Brom defender whos name I forgot. So you could upgrade Henry or Brunt.

          Özil was caught smoking by a photographer on a yacht in Ibiza and came out with the implausible excuse that he was doing it as a one-off because he had "lost a bet". There's a picture here:

      Mesut Özil has been struggling with an Achilles injury, but will be fit to travel with the German team to Turkey for the qualifier. As Özil chose to play internationally for Germany over Turkey, you can expect the Turkish crowd to boo him every time he touches the ball (just as the Turkish fans did in the reverse leg in Berlin).

      He's definitely out of form though, as is his Real Madrid team-mate Sami Khedira. Özil hasn't completed a single match for Real this season, being substituted six times and coming on as a sub twice. A lot of this is down to Mourinho's new aggressive style of play, and an unwillingness to build the team around a single playmaker (Özil). The German national team suits him much better therefore.

    Plan after GW8:
    Ward -> Enrique
    RVP -> Rooney
    SWP -> A better midfielder. Currently have 7.1 to spend.

    Who looks best to bring in for GW9/10 and onwards?
    Considering Bannan, Brunt, Larsson, Petrov (Bolton), even Murphy and Ramsey.
