This evening we’ve made a change to the way the Season Ticker tool is delivered to our visitors in the sidebar. In order to improve the performance of the site, we’ve removed the Ticker from the initial load of our pages and made it available via a button in the sidebar in it’s original position.

The Ticker now loads separately and on request in your sidebar when required. Members will of course have access to the Members version of the Next Six Ticker as before.

The change was implemented specifically to improve the page load times for users of Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8 – both of which were suffering issues with the Ticker code. Users of these browsers should experience far better loading times but are still encouraged to upgrade to version 9 in order to view the site and specifically the Ticker at its best. We still have some bugs associated with the Ticker in IE but we are now working to resolve these.

All users should experience an improvement in page load time however and, by introducing this button, we are now able to keep the Ticker available on all article pages and usable by our visitors when required. This will enable us to develop the tool further, without concern for the initial page load times.

Following this change, we have further optimisations to make to the new design as we continue to tweak following the recent change over.

As always, thanks for your patience, feedback and support in helping us improve the site.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

By the by, when one refreshes the page after loading the ticker, it disappears again ... is that deliberate?

Yep, otherwise it would slow the refresh down. We figured that folk won't be refreshing or posting comments when still needing to view the ticker but, if they do, 90% of users can load it in 1-2 seconds.

Going forward this is for the best - we've new features in test that will be added soon but, we can't expand the ticker's function if we are constantly adding load time to pages.

    Evening all.

I've got 2 free transfers and 0.2 in the bank.

    Considering the following:

    Sessegnon > Ramsey
    Senderos > 4.5?

Needs to be done before Ramseys price rises.

    Team is currently:

    Given Ruddy
    Senderos Enrique Smalling Simpson Kompany
    Sessegnon Silva Mata Sinclair Moses
    Suarez Rooney Adebayor

    Cheers.

Im considering trippling up on Arsenal, is this madness?

I currently have Arteta in my team and im thinking of transfering:

    Taraabt -> Ramsey
    Aguero -> RVP

    I have 2 FT's so i wouldnt take a hit.

    Rest of my team is:

    Vorm (Given)
Bosingwa / Enrique / Simpson (Gabbidon / DeLaet)
Silva / Sinclair / Arteta / Taraabt (Moses)
    Aguero / Rooney / Suarez

I would captain RVP which would mean id have 6 players and my captain playing in just 2 games.

Sun (H) - Sunderland have alot of injuries / bans. Poor form and rumours about Bruce being sacked.

Sto (H) - I think they have a Europe game 2/3 days before, they have always been poor following a mid-week match.

then id transfer out before the Che (A) game.

Still think 3 Arsenal players is a risk, just think RVP is going to get a few over next 2 games.

It could potentially be a season defining moment. If Arsenal bomb, which let's be honest, they may well (again). You could be stuck with a trio of Arsenal players. It's a gamble. Are you behind by much or are you pace setting your leagues?

I would never triple up on a team that are very variable on how they play, you don't know how they are going to come out. Sometimes they are good for it, other times not, very unpredictable. Maybe just get 2 arsenal players for the up and coming games cause they could score a few but you never know really.

if I had him i wouldn't ditch him. like they say he's fixture proof, always dangerous and to be fair RVP isn't quite ripping it up just now. Aguero is about the only 1 i would change him for but with his injury its also risky. If its not broken dont fix it.

exactly VDV was great last year playing just off the striker but out wide he won't be in the same effective positons, so not sure how many points he'll get, whereas nasri has potential for goals and assists, and man city have some very good fixtures aswell

Who do you think will score more points over the next 2 gameweeks?

    1) RVP + Adebayor
    2) Rooney + Aguero

Think RVP and Adebayor will just tip it, but Rooney and Aguero wont be far behind just because they are good no matter what the fixture!

Not really, Terry is hard. He is strong and solid and wants to win the ball, Evans wants to hurt people. Terry always has eyes on the ball and if someboody gets hurt it's because they tried to out muscle a man who is stronger than them. Evans has eyes on the player or on anything other than the ball, he kicked Drogba in the face on purpose and broke Holden's leg with a brutal scythe. Evans just wants to cause harm to players. Can you give one example of Terry being a dirty player?

I agree that Terry is a hard player and I respect that but his play seems very dirty to me at times. Am not talking about over the top attempts to hurt other players but it's just something I notice in his play.

Hey guys, quick questions, Klasnic or K Davies...I'm trading Bendter and want a Bolton forward...
Davies is more nailed on, on penalties etc...
Klasnic is more explosive, .1 cheaper but is he a risk rotation?
    Thoughts would much appreciated...cheers

Ok after a very short messing about period (distracted by my first go of FIFA12, not totally sold on it yet) my thoughts about the new look site are:

    Pro's
Looks good. Like the quotes bit at the bottom. Update notifications if someone responds to your post is a nice idea, not used this feature yet but I can see how it would be handy.

    Cons
I dont like the hidden replies bit, preferred the way the old one worked. The loss of the +1/-1 and Flag options from the Beta test is a bit disappointing. I'd like a hide function as well, but I suppose that could be difficult to do in practice.

All in all a good evolution, but a little tinkering would make it great. Thanks fella's.

Take a look at this injury-plagued team....!

    Vorm (Krul)
    Bosingwa Kompany Enrique (Simpson, Briggs)
    N.Dyer Ramsey Nani Silva (Brunt)
    Aguero Adebayor Drogba

🙁 anyone heard any news on Ade or Aguero?
N.Dyer has come on in place of Brunt(ankle injury)

FPL doesn't have a yellow marker, and he's also not listed on this site in the injuries and bans section....?
I'm a bit shakey having a front three, where two are injury doubts and one is a risk with playing time....

He wasn't playing against Man United because it was in his loan contract. We can only assume that he missed the two games before that because he has indeed fallen out of favour - given that he would have had a rest anyway.
