Back after our own international break, I bundle Mark into the studio for another podcast and slap him around the face with my Wildcard.

Rusty after a week of absence, we’re forced to get our tongues contorted around a variety of team names, even more baffling than Mark’s unshakable faith in Victor Moses. Yes, indeed, Wigan’s most unfortunate Fantasy flop gets another airing, with Mark mercilessly banishing the Latics to the Championship – surely the only solution to his blind spot.

    Time for an RMT lads?

    Given

    Enrique, Simpson Taylor

    Mata, Gerrard, Nasri, Walters

    Sturridge, RVP, Suarez

Who to captain out of that lot? I've currently got it on Gerrard. Thoughts appreciated. 🙂

Cheers man, my mind is set on keeping it on him as majority will be on RVP, however he may even go on a brace against stoke and make me feel sick to my stomach, but, however.....i do have a most excellent feeling about Gerrard this gameweek 🙂

Haha cheers lads, seems to RVP for the majority vote then, i would love to keep it on him as he did me proud last week, cant help but feel cautious though the way stoke are playing tonight.

.....are people thoughts on RVP because Stoke are poor as away from home? or just that they'll be knackered?

was close to adding downing, but i have enrique so not really needed. also, i had bale but VDV is the real points monster. his increased price over bale is totally justified, so far at least. bale's been plaing great but with the new bonus points system he doesn't get much love.

      Vorm and Krul good.

Shawcross, Bosingwa and Enrique are great picks. Not too sure on Wilkinson or Boyata. Bolton have a terrible defence and although Stoke have a great defence, i'm not too sure how often Wilkinson will play.
Midfield is strong- VDV has great fixtures, Mata and Silva are very strong and Petrov is great cheap option. Pilkington is flavour of the week but not convinced he'll prove a great pick in a few months time. Saying that, he's very cheap so maybe worth the risk.
Suarez and RvP are good picks, I'd keep Suarez for the next 3 and RvP gives you the flexibility to get Aguero or Rooney in the coming weeks. Sturridge is a good pick- I think there's better options but Sturridge if he starts more than 70% of games will be one of the best value players in the game. Drogba, Anelka, Torres, Lukaku, Mata, Malouda and Kalou offer rotation threat but it seems Sturridge is in great form and AVB likes him. He's definitely on my watchlist.

Appreciate the feedback, Zidane. The reason i'm going for Boyata is because of Bolton's great run of fixtures but you're right that they have been very suspect defensively thus far so i'm a bit confused now. Do you have any other defenders in mind- similar price range?

For 4.5m you've got Woodgate (STK), Brown (SUN) and Ollson (WBA). Simpson (NEW) and Taylor (SUN) are 4.1 options. Monk (SWA) is 4.0m. Swansea's defence is better than Bolton's at the moment so I'd take Monk over Boyata. Turner (SUN) is 4.3 and could be a great pick.

    Given
    Bosingwa Saylor Enrique
    Nani Brunt M.Petrov Silva
    Aguero Sturridge Rooney

But the question is. Sturridge OR Nani? Nani’s got great scoring/assisting history against Man City. Scored twice in the Community Shield. Netted one last season at OT, got an assist. Decisions, decisions… Both Sturridge and Nani are playing derbies. My god, it’s so hard ;(

he should be, theres no reason for AVB to want to change him right now. he's scoring goals and playing well. It would seem he's in until he stops performing. That aside AVB was singing his praises pre season and has played him every game he's been available for so far this season.

With regards to Stoke and their poor performances after Europa games this season. The game most people are referring to was the 5-0 drubbing Sunderland after playing away to Dinamo Kiev, a long flight to the Ukraine and back for and a game where they played their hearts out to hold onto what would have been a great victory if not for Kievs last minute equaliser. This is not gonna be the same this week when they nip along the motorway to the Emirates. I think that RVP is a good shout this week but not as great a prospect as people seem to think. Just thought I would put this out there, p.s. I have RVP as well.

My worry isn't so much with Van Persie, he's a class act. Its the lack of service he's getting from those around him that is worrying. Gervinho continually choosing the wrong option, Walcott not doing much either. I can see a tough game for them. They toiled against a pretty poor Sunderland last week. I've got my fingers crossed for a decent return but i might put the armband somewhere else

Cannot believe Suarez is topping the poll. That has got to be a numbers game (37% ownership vs the 10% of Robin) coming to the fore.

I'm glad I've got both, but it's the Dutch oven all the way for moi.

Coincidentally: Sunday 1:30pm is the new Saturday at 3pm these days then. Equal most games of the week on at this time; and more interesting ones too.

Agree with the captaincy. Seen a good few on here thinking Chelsea are going to rip it up against QPR so advocating a Chelsea (c) - not so sure they will rip it up to be honest, I think they'll win but it'll only be 1-2 or something.

However, I should be at Anfield on Saturday so there's no bloody way I'm having Suarez as captain for me. I'm not going to risk having Big Dunc rubbing that in my face so maybe my glasses have a certain tint.

Agree on Chelsea. They'll win, don't tthink they're rout them - and that's probably my scoreline prediction too.

I would appreciate some opinions from the you knowledgeable gentlemen on the three options I'm toying with for this week.

    It's either:
    Walker in Heitinga out
    or
    Warnock in Heitinga out
    or
    Walker in Heitinga out
    Diame in Moses out
    or
(my current favourite because it means I can ignore the Heitinga and Moses problems for another week)
    Mata in Nani out
    Agbonlahor in Zamora out

Don't play with a 5* team. Play with 4 or 4.5* team and you won't be matched up with them, the players who use Barca, Madrid, Spain etc. aren't even that good anyway.

Woodgate yes as he's not in Europa League squad, so should play when fit. Huth can play RB or CB though atm Wilkinson is first choice RB. Huth isn't worth the money.

          Wilkinson - Woodgate - Shawcross(c) - Wilson.

I know, I saw his error for Swansea's second goal a few weeks ago and he's injured unsurprisingly.

Ideally: Wilkinson - Shawcross - Huth - Wilson(Higginbotham when back)

However, Huth has been playing RB and now LB today so could see:

Wilkinson - Shawcross(c) - Upson - Wilson on Sunday at Arsenal.

Cheers! I'll keep WIlkinson on my radar then. At 4m he could be a bargain. I can't see Huth not being rotated in at right back at times but if they pick up an injury or two at the back... Incredible that you could get a Stoke defender for 4m!

      Currently in favour:
      Wilko Upson Shawcross Wilson/Higg

Huth backup & Europe appears to have been poor at right back, leaving Wilko potentially looking like the choice value pick.
Woodgate injured (as usual) but hasn't impressed the fans.

That's how it is currently, according to their fans on a fan forum, so take it with a pinch of salt as ever.

but VDV playing 90 is not the point of having VDV - he's a point scoring machine that only needs 30 to 60 mins to get you a decent return week in week out.
Mata may well come good, but like Suarez, I'm looking at the fixtures and he already has Sturridge for Chelsea coverage

True, but Sturridge a possible rotation risk with Torres coming back? VDV will get injured, and last week he didn't look do much except for the penalty. Not up to par with his price tag. I just don't trust Liverpool on my team, Suarez and Enrique are the only Liverpool cover I'd consider (in fact, I have Enrique on my squad atm)

The Stoke game is utter entertainment:

Stoke go 3-0 up in 30 mins, Jerome gets a second yellow for an elbow on a defender. Stoke fans then boo that defender throughout.

Now that defender has been sent off for kicking his boot at a linesman. Just hilarious.
