Three home matches in the next four have propelled Jonathan Walters up the Watchlist rankings, as Stoke continue to build on progress that has seen them successfully establish themselves in the Europa League, whilst maintaining solid league form.

Although Tony Pulis’ side may have struggled on their travels, their performances at the Britannia have been a different matter altogether. Stoke have conceded just a single goal in their four home games so far and, while their defence will no doubt receive some heavy Fantasy interest, Walters has arguably made a bigger impression than the Potters rearguard.

Nine Gameweeks into the season and the Republic of Ireland international, thanks in part to his role up front, is the top-scoring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) prospect in the Stoke City squad with a total of 43 points.

A breakdown of his Britannia returns thus far make for interesting reading – 2 goals, 3 clean sheets and a strong 7 bonus points; he’s failed to bank bonus in just one of his home fixtures to date, the season opener against Chelsea. Bonus has come against Liverpool (2), Man United (2) and Fulham (3)- in front of the Potters faithful, indicating that Walters’ game is clearly suited to the new EA SPORTS PPI scoring system.

At just 6.1 in the FPL, Walters costs less than the injury-prone Matt Etherington (6.4) and has just 5.7% ownership right now. With spot-kick duties also seemingly in the bag, he’s looking a strong proposition ahead of a run of games that sees him face Newcastle, Blackburn and QPR at the Britannia.

Walters warmed up for next Monday’s clash with Newcastle by grabbing an assist in Stoke’s 2-1 defeat by Liverpool last night and was unlucky to have a goal disallowed. Clearly, his eye for goal is in right now and Pulis will be reliant on him to deliver as the Potters look to bounce back from their Carling Cup exit.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Anyone else scared to go for weekend without The Kun?
    I really hate my team without him, but brain says it's not worth to swap rvp or rooney to him - brains or heart?

    cheers!

      I'm in the same boat as you, V. Could do Suarez > Kun for a 4 point hit, but I feel I have to keep the faith with the little Uruguayan after his showing last night. You just KNOW that Kun will tear Wolves a new one this weekend though ðŸ™

        Yep, he'll do two and then get subbed => 13 * 2 = 26 points
        My captain vdv, will finally decide not to score more than 3 points - I got him in this week 🙂

        Yes, he could well do so this weekend.

        He could also get 20 minutes and it's Balotelli who starts and tears Wolves a new one.

        Fact is that its hard to know what Mancini is going to do at the moment with his strikers and all 3 of them are equally able to tear it up on any given weekend.

        My advice has all week has been: Get a Man City striker if you must and stick with him. Don't get him in just for a specific GW. Just get the striker of your choice, play him every week and accept that some weeks he's going to tear it up and earn you mega points, other weeks he'll be on the bench and you'll be praying that he doesn't come on for the dreaded 1 pt appearance.

        That, in my opinion, is all you can really do.

          I fully agree, and when Aguero finds his way into my team, it'll be for the long term. I don't want to take a hit for him this weekend though because of the rotation situation, and the fact I'd have to take a hit to get him in (and whenever I've taken hits, that gameweek has never gone too well!).

          thanks, I just don't think aguero will be benched too often - actually it's happened just once, in gw1.
          He'll get many 60+ mins games though.
          I'll propably pass him for now, cos just can't justify taking rooney or rvp out, and don't have cash to do suarez to aguero. Maybe I'll regret this saturday night, or not.

        I agree. The two players Mancini will want to play against Valencia are Aguero and Silva. They will beat Wolves anyway, so why risk either getting injured?

          You have to keep them ticking over though. Neither played last night. Fully expect them both to start this weekend, and hopefully Silva is the only one who lights up the Ethiad FPL wise!

      I've never had him in my team so far but like you have worried each GW as most of my rivals do, but succeeding in the game is all about getting the differentials and mine's been RVP (c) as nobody in any of my leagues has him, as a result I've climbed the rankings at the expense of others still sitting on both Rooney and Aguero hoping for big scores. I've no doubt The Kun will post another mammoth score soon, but as no City forward is guaranteed a starting place I think it's safe to say Silva is the only absolute essential for them at the moment (well in my opinion!)

        Same here Psychos.

        I ditched Aguero for RVP on my WC and everyone else kept hold of Aguero. Amazes me no one else in my league has RVP but I like it that way.

        Also agree that Silva will do for me for now. Mind u, I still have Rooney. Got to be a season keeper for me.

        Hmmmm... Immediately after Sunday I was strongly considering getting rid of Bosingwa, but very happy now that I still have him. We'll start keeping clean sheets soon enough, we've actually been pretty unlucky recently, the single goals against Swansea (offside), Bolton (offside) and QPR (not a penalty) have cost him a lot of points.

      Not for me. 8 pointers are always a huge gamble too. If can see why you want rid of the outgoing players but it just does not add up for me.

      Have you considered Bibotelli instead of Aguero? I am fairly certain he will get at least 42 mins more game time over the next two weeks. He is 3.6 cheaper so you may be able to afford Barton to DVD and Roo to Bibotelli.

    Bench (in order): Bosingwa, Dyer, Simpson, Vorm

        Considered that, but Chelsea's CS record is v poor this season and I can't see them keeping Arris out. Also a bit unerved by the possibility of AVB subbing him again, whereas Enrique's place looks nailed on. Close call though for sure, tough decision.

      think i'd go for dyer over ramsey, tight one tho. i'd pobably swap keepers too, but would leave you a bit overswansea'd, but they are playing bolton who dont let in anything at home. i had to check that but yes swansea have let in nothing at home this season.

    Good evening community!

    I don't normally post things with regards to my potential transfers, but for
    once at a crossroads and my brain is going off in so many different
    directions, would appreciate if someone takes a gander at the squad and
    could suggest something.

    I need to ship de Laet but I can afford him drop another .1 before he
    becomes a must get rid and, although he will drop in the next few days, I
    have a bit of time there.

    I want rid of Ward, Wolves aren't likely to keep may clean sheets in my
    opinion, the Wigan game a possible exception. Was thinking a swap for ShawX
    but he picked up his 3rd booking that counts last night (has one more in
    Europe but we can ignore that) so a tad pensive on that front.

    Then again I could ditch RVP for Aguero. Dzeko started last night so he
    won't at the weekend against a leaky Wolves. Could also take a 4pointer
    which rarely works out for a defender but could get sell Ward for Big Vince
    and that'd leave with zero cash but wouldn't be able to do this later. Could go for Micah instead but he'll be randomly rotated unlike the skipper. This may work in the long run as
    having no City defensive coverage could hurt me a lot over the next few
    weeks.

    I know RVP is in fine form but Arsenal really worry me and can't see him
    keeping it up even with the nice fixtures ahead. I look at Aguero's fixtures
    and think there could be hatricks in there.

    Rant over

      For me Aguero and Suarez are locks, and I'd like to rotate Rooney with RVP the rest of the season. Except I haven't done that because the rest of my team have been very naughty boys and deserved my transfers more.

      Seems like you have a lot of the same problems as me! Not at all sure what I'm going to do with Ward and De Laet.

      Wouldn't get rid of RVP, unless it's a ballsy one week RVP > Aguero switch, with RVP coming straight back in afterwards. Arsenal's fixtures are awesome, after Chelsea, and he's in such good form that it doesn't make much sense to get rid.

      I'd probably just do Ward > Kompany while you can.

        Great minds and all that! Did you at least get the points for de Laet in the game against Stoke? He was sat warming the first spot on my bench that week the goofy cretin!

        Thats the thing, can't do Ward to Kompany without the RVP to Aguero... I can do that exactly. I'm also a bit worried by a potential price rise for Aguero tonight - The whole 'when does the price protection' actually start isn't an exact science is it. Although I seem to remember one night last season when Andrew divulged this - And you were one of the folk up at that hour!

          Yup, Andy spilled the beans on protection towards the end of last season, and [unsurprisingly] I was online at the time. Haven't been following the rises/falls at all this season so far, so not sure if the same rules regarding protection still apply - they may not considering they've changed the price rise mechanism.

          Going on the rules from last season, I'd say that Aguero was protected up until a couple of days ago, and so shouldn't rise in price tonight, but TotalFPL seem to disagree, and they spend a lot more time looking at these things than I do!

          I probably wouldn't make any changes if I were you.

          And no, I didn't get the De Laet points. Transferred him in whilst on my early wildcard, on the back of his early season points, and the rest is history. Same story with Ward and Jarvis - serious early season points, and then precisely nothing ever since I transferred them in, despite some friendly fixtures. Bah!

      Exactly the problems I have too, bouncebackability. Unfortunately I have no answers to them.

      I'm leaning towards ditching Ward for a cheap defender. Aguero should do far better than RVP this gameweek but it will only hurt you badly if he does it while your own captain fails to produce. It's not like two weeks ago where I was almost certain RVP was a better captain choice than any other player and therefore did Aguero->RVP. There are some other good ones now that could save you. That's how I think. I think.

        Evening Garg! I can't believe you don't have the answers for me though - Frankly that's just rude! 🙂

        VDV will have the armband even if I got Aguero. I hear ya with regards to the cheap defender option. If I got rid of Ward for ShawX or Brown then I have enough money to get Walters in or even Roonpig the week after. Why am I constantly thinking of shipping RVP?! Something is wrong with me no?!

          @ BounceB,Don't like to give advice to someone who's history suggests they don't need it, but you did ask 😉
          Your team is in great shape but defence looks squeaky especially with New's run of fixtures, not many options with Da Laet but Ward to Walker , Enrique or Shawx would be my humble advice.

            Ha, thanks for that Gnu! I did ask for once so the thoughts were welcomed. Had an off season last year, we'll gloss over that one!

            I had considered Walker but don't like the thought of having three Spurs players - Besides, can't do it now as .1 shy if I sell Ward. I won't get Enrique now, I'm a 'Pool fan and I'm not convinced at all by our defensive quality as yet. We need a 25 year old Sami Hyypia back to help with that.

            I have been thinking ShawX for a few weeks now so I'm leaning that way..

      Nani, I think. Not convinced the backlash is on the cards, but I think you need one for safety.

      In short, Rooney has been off the boil for weeks and faces his toughest fixture of the season. Many may diasagree.

      I like the idea of having Nani VDV Silva then being flexible with your strikers.

        Rooney on pens and Utd will get plenty of them.

        Nani is a great shout but prices suggest that most of us can only have 1 of them in our teams. Given that option I'd always go for the one on penalty kick duties.

        Dyer, Brunt and Rambo, Looks like all of them are in better chance for points. With that knock he could be benched even. Kuyt and Carroll upfront or maybe Gerrard as a support striker. Lucas i back so he could be forced higher up on the pitch. I might chicken out, but atm thinking of doing exactly that.

    Is it worth a 4pt hit to bring Aguero in for one of RVP/Adebayor/Suarez?

    My head screams no, my heart is worried he will destroy wolves...

      I wonder too. There wasn't a statement, that there won't be one, so there's still hope.

    Got a team of:

    Vorm (Given)
    Kompany, Bos, Enrique (Simpson, De Leat)
    Silva(v), VDV (C), Dyer, Walters (Cabaye)
    Rooney, Ade, Sturridge

    3.6 in bank, did my 2 frees on sunday (VDV and Walters in)

    Is it worth a 4 pt hit to do any of these transfers? If not then which one to do for a FT next week?

    Bos-->Richards/Jones
    Bos-->Shawcross
    Bos---> Walker or BAE
    De Laet---> Wilkinson or Boyata
    Cabaye---> Ramsey

        I was thinking of that, mainly as I can have longer to decide what on earth to do with the defence.

    What's your thoughts on this; my team is;
    Vorm (Ruddy)
    Enrique Kompany Simpson Raylor (Ward)
    VDV (C) Nani Silva (Henry Ferg)
    RVP Rooney Sturridge
    £1.1 in the bank, no FTs

    Next week I'll transfer Simpson for Wilkinson then, in subsequent weeks, plan to go Ward for Brown, Henry for Allen and Pilks for Ferg.

    My worry is, if either Silva or Rooney don't play this GW I'm stuck with Ward and, quite possibly, minus points from him. Should I just take the 4 point hit for Ferg to Pilks and make him first sub?

    Anyone have an opinion on Sessegnon? Haven’t seen him play.
    He has good fixtures and I would be getting him in for Barton

    Is it worth a 4 point hit to remove bosingwa and capitalize on his value now, and if so then which defender should come in?

          can't say really until the matches have been played as I don't want to give you false hope. I went with the thinking that Walker has more of a chance of getting a clean sheet than bos this weekend. Bos could get 2, walker could potentially get 6 points - That's the hit made up for.

    I really can't make my mind up weather to bring in ade or aguero mainly because of the worry aguero might not start anyone in the same position

    Is Jones favorite for Man Utd RB this week?

    Thinking of swapping Bosingwa for Jones/Smalling then to Rafael when he's back.

    Bought Bosingwa for 5.5, so can sell for 5.9 and have 0.1 in bank, 1 free transfer.

    Current team;

    Vorm, Given
    Bosingwa, Walker, Kompany, Enrique, Santon
    Silva, Young, Ramsey, N Dyer, B Johnson
    Aguero, Rooney, Sturridge.
