After waiting all season to jump in the Rolls Royston, I had the Dutchman all written up as a Differential and the mouse hovering over the ‘confirm transfers’ button only for the inevitable red card to ruin my Everton-related Differential dreams.

Growing up as an Everton fan does prepare you somewhat for footballing disappointments, so despite having to throw that one back in the pond for another week, I managed to pick myself up in time to fish out another three for you to chew over. As we continue our countdown to Gameweek Ten then, it’s time to look over the Scout Selection Committee’s Differential picks for this week…..

James Milner

With such a rich source of midfield talent available, rest and rotation is a big problem to anyone considering investing in Man City, particularly with their Champions League involvement to factor in. Against all the odds, though, it is James Milner who looks the most rotation proof right now. Nothing is guaranteed where Roberto Mancini is involved of course, but Milner is the only attacking midfielder to have started all of the last three league matches, and as Samir Nasri and Adam Johnson both started in the Carling Cup tie on Wednesday, it’s pretty clear where he sits in the pecking order at present.

A look through the FPL statistics for the season throws up a lot of unexpected results; if you work it out on a ‘per minute played’ basis then Milner has a better EA PPI and overall points return than David Silva, and has also picked up more bonus points. Priced at just 7.5 to Silva’s 10.2 and owned by just 2.4%, Milner could prove to be a huge differential over the next few weeks then, and considering City’s goal scoring form, he looks like an excellent source of fantasy points.

Somen Tchoyi

After a poor start to the season, Roy Hodgson’s West Brom side have looked much improved in recent games and after two solid wins on the trot, they will be full of confidence going into their home tie against Liverpool.

Before last week Hodgson looked settled on a Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long front line, but with a knee injury set to keep Long out for 6 weeks, he will almost certainly draft in a ready-made replacement rather than try to change their formation. Somen Tchoyi is the obvious choice to replace him up front having already played there in pre-season, and priced at just 5.1 in the FPL game and classed as a midfielder, Tchoyi looks great value.

In many ways, Tchoyi is the definition of a differential. He’s cheap, has low ownership and as a midfielder playing out of position, he should provide excellent value for money over the short to medium term. Four home ties in next six, including games against the struggling Bolton and Wigan should more than make up for a tricky trip to Arsenal next week, so if you’re looking for a cheap fifth midfielder then Tchoyi looks as good an option as any right now.

Hugo Rodallega

If you take a look at the current league standings then you’d be forgiven for dismissing Wigan as a source of Fantasy points; they sit joint bottom of the league after six defeats on the trot, and have managed just six goals all season. Thankfully there’s more to it than that; the Latics have looked much improved in recent weeks, and will consider themselves very unlucky not to have picked up a result against Bolton or Newcastle.

Home ties against Fulham and Blackburn as well as a trip to Wolves in their next three should give then plenty of chances to pick up goals, and with the return to fitness of Hugo Rodallega they’ve finally got someone who can put the ball in the net.

With 11 attempts on target against Newcastle (that’s more than Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham or Arsenal last week) it seems incredible that they didn’t get more from that game. Although Rodallega didn’t get on the score sheet last week, he looked sharp in front of goal and gave Wigan an edge that they’ve been missing in recent games. Priced at just 6.0 and with an ownership of 1.9%, he could prove to a decent differential over the next few games.

If my Football Manager game was real, then David Luiz would be on 46 FPL points after the first five games of the season.

    1: TOT 2-0 1 CS, 1 yellow card. 5 points.
    2: mcy 1-0 1 CS, 1 goal, 3 BPs. 15 points.
    3: QPR 0-0 1 CS, 3 BPs. 9 points.
    4: swa 4-0 1 CS, 1 assist, 1 BP. 10 points
    5: FUL 4-0 1 CS, 1 BP. 7 points.

      2: West Brom 3-0. 3 goals 3BP's. 17 points
      3: Norwich 2-0. 1 goal 1 assist 3BP's. 12 points

    Current team for this GW:

    Vorm (Krul)
    Bosingwa/Woodgate/Kompany (Enrique/Simpson)
    Silva/Nani/VDV(c)/Ramsey (Moses)
    Suarez/Van Persie/Graham

Do you think its worth a 4 point hit to do Suarez - Adebayor?

Also any other glaring errors in my team/bench this week? Figure if woodgate starts he´l be good chance of CS but if not enrique will come on.

For all those that keep mentioning how Suarez is dropping 0.1m tonight.

He's currently 9.6m, if you bought him at 9.5m then your selling price is 9.5m anyway therefore this 0.1m drop does not affect you at all. You will still be able to sell him for 9.5m.

The drop should not affect your decision making in this case. You should only be basing your decision on his liklihood to start and liklihood to score points in this tie.

          Definitely good enough to leave.

          - Great defence
          - We have the same midfield and I'm very happy. It's so unpopular to say you prefer Moses over anyone but I would start him over Ramsey as well.
          - I am also taking the risk and leaving Suarez in.
          - Subs are in right order for too.

All in all you look well set.

Cheers mate. Bit worried about my defence simply because it's too expensive. I'll have to downgrade one of them soon, just not this week.

I actually regret getting Enrique in last week as part of a 4point hit (although i did get VDV so can't complain too much) as after the Swansea game next weekend he'll likely be sold!

Hiya lads, sorry for the re-post but got zero feedback, think posts are rolling in thick and fast haha, wont re-post if stlll no feedback so no worries, anyways..

    RMT please if you could?
    Ruddy
    BAE, Enrique, N.Taylor
    Walters, VDV, Gerrard, Ramsey
    Suarez, Torres, RVP

Bit hesitant to post this team up as I know I have no united or city cover, but I think overall it may not need it, however I do plan to get silva in over coming weeks for maybe gerrard if he doesn’t perform, or cleverly and silva for walters and suarez when pools fixtures dry up.
More importantly, who to captain? I am adamant on keeping it on Torres (please don’t hate haha), see it as a good differential. I’m keeping it as him just wondered what your choices would be other than torres and why. Help appreciated.

My subs aren't priority really as daft as that sounds, i'll gain the points and then start making sub changes. im taking hits every week as im behind, but are all now for the long term, so wont be touching hits now hopefully. plus if i name subs comments will be on them as opposed to main body of the team, for the record subs are given, simpson, de laet and ferguson, cant touch them until i make improvements overall. plus other people dont always put their full team on here for rmt's 🙂

I'm not keen. Don't like Ruddy in goal, the defenders are fine for this week but not sure about BAE and you don't have Kompany. You sound set on Torres but I really don't see the value when Sturridge is so much cheaper. You could use the saving to get a 3rd big hitter in midfield (though Ramsey and Walters aren't bad options). Not sure Gerrard is worth the money, would rather have Silva.

Don't mean to be too negative, I can see decent points in your team, just think a couple of your picks are not good value and it's damaging other parts of your team.

ruddy is at home with the visit of blackburn, surely its all good? given has let me down and sunderland will most likely score against villa. im not bothered about kompany really, i exchanged sturridge out for torres, i just like him more. i can see gerrard being a season keeper so thats my reason for having him in. like i said tho silva is an option if he doesnt perform.
i totally understand where your coming from though mate, thanks for your analysis, some sound points 🙂

It's that time of the week again, time for you to all drool over my team.

    Vorm
    Kompany Enrique Bosingwa
    Nani VDV(C) Silva Moses
    RVP Ade Agbonlahor

    Krul Dyer Ward De Laet

Still not sure on VDV captain. Also tempted to lose Bosingwa for P.Jones? Or De Lol for Wilkinson.

Stick with VDV, or if your really not sure, go Ade.

De Laet has to go, as does Ward, then i'll be drooling.

posted earlier in the wrong thread.

    vorm (krul)
    brown/bosingwa/warnock (ward, de laet)
    vdv/nani/silva/cabaye (dyer)
    sturridge/suarez/rooney

i am really unhappy with my backline – need to make at least 2 changes (ward + de laet) badly, don’t want to take a hit to do so. i’d also like to get rid of suarez which i guess isn’t pressing.

i’m thinking de laet -> wilkinson (which’d let me bench warnock) is probably the only transfer i can make this week, but i’d LOVE more city attacking cover.

suarez -> balotelli/dzeko worth an additional 4 pointer?

Alright Lads, first post in what seems like ages, already taken a 4 point hit, team is:

Al-Hasbi (had him before the scout picks!) 😉
    Taylor, Lopez, Kompany
    VDV, Dyer, Silva, Eagles,
    Rooney, RVP, Sturridge.

    SUBS: Given, Simpson, Bosingwa, Hoolahan

Can't see any more transfers worthy of a 4 point hit, so just subs to decide on (unless anyone can see any more transfers?) As I was typing this out realised I've doubled up on the team second bottom of the league, this can't be good can it!?

And is it worth bringing Hoolahan on for anyone, maybe Sturridge or Eagles? or maybe get Tchoyi in!

    Any thoughts much appreciated 😀
