The Dugout Discussion turns on the floodlights tonight as we close out the gameweek with Stoke playing host to Newcastle this evening…

The home side make two changes from their last league tie – Jonathan Woodgate recovering from the midweek cup tie versus Liverpool in time to return and Jermaine Pennant back in the side in place of Dean Whitehead. The visitors, meanwhile, make a solitary change with Cheikh Tiote unfit and Danny Guthrie filling the void. Teams in full are…

Stoke XI: Begovic; Wilkinson, Shawcross, Woodgate, Wilson; Pennant, Delap, Whelan, Etherington; Walters, Crouch

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, R Taylor; Obertan, Guthrie, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Ba, Best

All eyes on the Potteries as Fantasy Managers look for one last boost to their gameweek ten scores.

And so ends the shortlived stoke defender bandwagon. 'wilkinson's a must' 'shawcross if you can afford him'...do me a lemon. I'll stick with my newcastle boys.

He's most certainly a reasonable choice, if you had to guess over the next 4 fixtures who would keep more cleansheets out of Newcastle and Stoke, most would choose Stoke.

I know you're not a noob...its just bandwagons get whipped up on here, sometimes too easily. Almost every other post on here has wilkinson as a must, but he's a 4.0 defender in a team that are pretty good at home but terrible away and after Europe. To me that is not a must or even a great option, just an alright one. Just good to get some perspective in a sea of bandwagons occasionally.

agree.. the number of bandwagons suggested on here is crazy.. stoke only play europa games b4 away games for a while though so are a pretty safe bet at home.. so wilko could prove a gem durin home games next few weeks.. point taken and respected though:)

With mci/mun/CHE in the next four Newcastle will have to be spectacular to give you any defensive returns. In all fairness Stoke have been superb so far defensively at home, this game is just an out of character performance.

Newcastle have had fairly pleasant fixtures so far, aside from Spurs but at least they played at home.

Spurs still put 2 past Newcastle and its hard to see anything other than Man City beating them up like they've done to everyone else this season.

Ramsey, Sessgnon also play forward very much, they just behind their striker
Sinclair and Larsson always appear in the box

I've had larsson in before and did nothing for me. Sess looks slow and ramsey isn't proven against good teams (i.e. non-existent against chelsea)

Coloccini must have been hoping Raylor stayed down, he must be fed up with covering two positions!
Anyway, haven't seen many 'outraged at Ashley appointing Pardew' type posts from Newcastle fans recently..... 😉

I remember at the start of the season everyone saying how Newcastle were going down with the team they had. It still baffles me slightly how they've played continually so well.

they all really work hard. look at obertan, even he is tracking back! Gutierez backs full back and Ba is really a great forward, a real handful. Solid centre mid. Good keeper.

He's surprised most of us, myself included. Never had anything against Pardew, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time so bore a lot of ill feeling that had little to do with him. He's gone about things in the right way and is pretty popular now.

      Fickle? Us? 😉

Had wanted to get RVP and Shawcross for Bosingwa and Adebayor (-4) tonight. May have to look elsewhere in below 5.5M bracket now. Walker, BAE, Wilkinson? Any one else to consider, who must play this week.

Yeah he may not be worth the hassle long term, but could pick up some cheap clean sheets. I'd say get Jones if you can afford him.

More I think about it the more I am tempted. I am at 1M rank approx, what is the worst that happen. Must need Evans to play though as I have Kompany and De Laet. Would keep Bosingwa if I could, but I must have RVP.

Walker is ideal, esp. with Ledley King back in the Spurs side. Can't think of anyone other than you've mentioned except maybe Hutton, but his fixtures aren't great...
