Our rundown of yesterday’s three fixtures sees plenty of mid-price midfield options stand out amongst others. Jamie O’Hara leads Wolves to a vital win despite the efforts of Ali Al-Habsi, Stoke endure a Euro hangover thanks to Chris Eagles and Ivan Klasnic, while Gareth Bale hints at a new-found consistency with another double figure return.

Jamie O’Hara
A goal, two assists and 3 bonus points helped the Wolves midfielder to a 15 point Fantasy haul this weekend. The recent Carling Cup tie with Man City inclusive, O’Hara has now scored in the last three home games in a row for Mick McCarthy’s side. With Steven Fletcher injured, Big Mick has been playing a 4-5-1 and has moved O’Hara into a more advanced position, with the former Tottenham player tucking in just behind Kevin Doyle- yesterday it paid dividend and may give McCarthy food for thought when Fletcher returns to action.

Stephen Ward
The Wolves left-back grabbed his second goal of the season yesterday, netting for the first time since the opener at Blackburn. An ever-present in the Wolves side, Ward is second only to John Terry when it comes to goalscoring defenders and is the best β€œvalue” outfield player of any at the Midlands club, returning 41 points to date from a price of 4.6.

Ben Watson
While Victor Moses and Hugo Rodallega conspire to miss chance after chance for the Latics, Watson continues to be their main source of attacking points. With 2 goals and 2 assists to his name, the midfielder has played a part in 4 of the 7 goals his side have scored this season. His spot-kick duties undoubtedly help, though Watson was rather fortunate to slot home a rebound after Wayne Hennessey had saved his initial effort.

Ali Al-Habsi
Though his heroics between the sticks failed to prevent Wigan from slipping to their eighth straight defeat, Al Habsi is still, nevertheless, picking up the Fantasy points. His 7 saves at Molineux was indicative of his performances and with 45 points on the board, despite no clean sheets since gameweek three, is joint-second top goalkeeper so far- only Michel Vorm has returned more.

Gareth Bale
So often a source of frustration for Fantasy managers, Bale’s goal, assist and maximum bonus points in the 3-1 win at Fulham is the third time in six matches he has returned double figure hauls. The Welshman has been upping his game of late but mainly due to the performances of Rafael Van der Vaart, has been cruising along nicely without hogging the headlines. Bale has now bagged 4 goals this season, just 2 less than Van der Vaart and has returned only 12 points less overall. With Spurs still facing a favourable run of fixtures, he could be in for plenty investment over the next few weeks- already he has been transferred in by over 24,000 Fantasy managers ahead of gameweek twelve, more than any midfielder.

Aaron Lennon
Having been out of action for a couple of months with a groin problem, Lennon returned in gameweek nine and has stepped up in the last couple of matches. Yesterday’s 12 point Fantasy haul at the Cottage means Lennon has grabbed a goal, 3 assists and 3 bonus points in his last two games, outscoring Rafael Van der Vaart by 21 to 12. He could prove to be a decent differential over the next few gameweeks- owned by just 1.6% of Fantasy managers and priced at 7.2, he’s looking nailed-on form a right wing spot in an on-song Tottenham team.

Ivan Klasnic
A return to the Bolton starting lineup saw Klasnic serve a reminder of his early-season potential. His brace in yesterday’s 5-0 romp over Stoke means he has returned 5 goals and 3 assists from the six games he has started for the Trotters, netting against the likes of Man City and Liverpool, and surely secures his place in the first XI ahead of a trip to West Brom in gameweek twelve. With home showdowns against Everton and Aston Villa to follow, albeit with a visit to Spurs sandwiched in between, Klasnic is not too bad a punt at just 5.8.

David Wheater
The centre-half seems to have established himself at the expense of Zat Knight in the Bolton back line in recent weeks. At just 4.4, Wheater- one of our featured defenders in the β€œBuilding a Budget Defence” Members article- grabbed an assist, clean sheet and single bonus point against Stoke yesterday. Wheater has returned 13 Fantasy points in his last four starts now- compare this to 5.3 Gary Cahill, who has returned the same tally over his last ten starts.

Chris Eagles
With Martin Petrov another Bolton player who has seemingly fallen from favour, Eagles is stepping up as the main midfield source of points for Owen Coyle’s side. His 2 goals, clean sheet and 2 bonus points led to 15 points against Stoke- this was his second double figure haul in the last four gameweeks- indeed, Eagles has returned 35 points over those four weeks, with the likes of David Silva picking up 26 points over the same period. Whenever Bolton have won a game, Eagles has played a significant part; the Trotters have recorded three victories and Eagles has scored (9, 13, 15) in each of those respective triumphs.

    Given-(Ruddy)
    Wilkinson-Walker -Jose Enrique-(Simpson)- (Boyata)
    Walters -Ramsey-Silva -Van der Vaart-(Ferguson)
    Van Persie-Suarez – Adebayor

1.7 in the bank. Still have WC but think I’ll save it. Finally got RVP in, with Rooney getting the boot.
Think I might move Suarez out. I’m thinking Hernandez due to my lack of Man Utd coverage, but worried about rotation with him. Also toying with the idea of cheaper options like Bendtner or Graham and also Dzeko.
Other things I need to improve is my bench and possibly moving Given out for Vorm.

I saw that too....kind of unzips my Ferguson is pants theory that I've been peddling all these weeks.

Although this week I got 6 more pts than if I'd have owned Ferguson. Dyer, my version of Ferguson but actually plays, came off my bench.

    lost on last page sorry..............

Bit of advice please folks, here is my team with selling values:

    BEGOVIC (5.1), VORM (4.2)

    STAYLOR (4.8), ENRIQUE (5.4), BOSINGWA (5.8), SHAWX (5.1), KOMPANY (6.1)

    VDV (10.4), RAMSEY (6.5), SILVA (10.0), PILKINGTON (5.1), NDYER (4.6)

    RVP (12.2), SUAREZ (9.4), STURRIDGE (6.7)

    BANK= 1.1M

Not got wildcard. Just looking at sorting my GK combo so it rotates, BOSINGWA out, not too sure of suarez now either. Everton and sunderland look good but nobody is setting world alight.

looking good, as you said the only pressing concern is bosingwa, suarez maybe sturridge and perhaps enrique given his poor fixtures, you could perhaps consider downgrading bos to a 4.5 mil defender like wes brown and upgrading suarez to aguero or n.dyer to someone like larsson or sess.

Serious food for thought for those looking at mid-price strikers in the coming weeks or playing WC's

    Subject: Ivan Klasnic
Notable: Has been heavily criticised in the past by Owen Coyle for being lazy on the field and not contributing anything to the team if he doesn't score.
Form: Started off the season on fire - scored each of first 3 weeks - then got in Coyle's doghouse again after seeing a straight red for a horror tackle. Climbed back out this past week in his first start since, scoring twice and adding a pair of assists
    Premier League goal scoring record: 2009/10 - 8 goals in 27 appearances (12 starts), 2010/11 - 4 goals in 22 games (0 starts), 2011/12 - 5 goals in 9 appearances (6 starts)

    Discuss.

Bit disappointing against Chelsea in truth but he's still our most talented player and likely to be amongst the points whenever we score. Shame he's playing more midfield than anything and even more of a shame he's classed as a forward. Wish they'd swap Formica and Junior around!

    AARRRGGGHHH

I've just taken a 8 point hit! Please tell me i'm not mad

    Out:-

    Bosw (prob won't play)
    De Laet (Definetly won't play)
    Best (Prob injured)

    In:-

Hibbert (Playing at home v wolves and DGW coming up)
Wilkinson (playing at home v QPR)
Bendtner (All aboard to bendy bus)

If i didn't do this then i would only have one playable defender as Simpson has ManC and that is just as good as no points.

im quite surprised by the lack of talk from people about getting lampard into their teams. hes the most consistent FPL player ever, has only 4pts less than silva despite missing a game and has 48pts in the last 5 weeks (may have been better had they not had 9 men against QPR)

the fact he seems a gauranteed starter where silva nani etc arent is a bonus

I'd say Silva's more of a guaranteed starter than him if i'm honest.

It's also the price factor. With people having 3 big strikers upfront, and one of Silva and VDV. How do you fit him in?

no stumbling blocks to lampard right now other than himself, and right now he's found that scoring touch that looked worryingly absent a couple of months ago. if drogba were to take direct free kicks it wouldn't matter as lampard never scores them anyway

That's true. Lampard and Gerrard both insist on that, but they're terrible at them!

another good sign for lampard is his last 5 goals have been non-penalties. he had been very reliant on them in the past 10 months until now.
still though i don't see the hurry for their game with liverpool where a yellow card would mean he'd miss a great fixture home to wolves. imo it's better to wait and see if he gets through that without a yellow then act

So my only question left at this point is: Is it better to have Adebayor and Bale OR VDV and a 6.5 or less forward?! I already have Adebayor... So it's a lot easier just to bring in Bale for Metrov then take 4 points and drop Adebayor for a 6.3 or less...

Had Bale from kick off. Was close to selling him, but stuck it out more in hope of the DGW coming up than anything, now he's come good. Best 8.0m player in the game I reckon. 100% starter, and when he's on form he's unstoppable. Think the end of season burn out took a while to shake off but he's flying now!

For all those people in here who are always moaning and thinking about giving up: (i know they are usually around here on weekends) My main rival of the last season had an abysmal start to his campaign. My start was okish, not outstanding, but I was leading by 120p three GWs ago. He kept hanging in there and made up 50p this week alone (and we both had RVP (c)) and is only 50p behind me now. Don't get me wrong I hate it that he's getting closer, but what I wanted to say, good research and a few lucky punts can bring you back on track. People who are in front of their leagues like me are finding it hard to get rid of their talismen (in my case Rooney) at the tight time, so there's always a chance. Bring on GW12...

Where should be top priority to improve my team? Please help to comment.

A: My poor DF... Evans > Wilkinson ... Will Evans play again? Will Wilko still a starter?
B: Nani > Bale and Ade > Hernandez
C: Nani > Lampard and Mata > Bale

    My current team for Gw12

    Vorm (Krul)
    Richards - Evans - Brown (N.Taylor, Simpson)
VDV - Mata - Nani - Silva (Dyer)
    RVP - Bendtner - Ade

I'm tempted to get those two. But I will have 3 spurs attacking players and no man Utd next week. Any other comments please.

Manager bets are usually a bitch - there's always people more in the know than the average punter.

Too true, got Villas-Boas and Hughton right, but unfortunately yeah, there's a fair bit of luck involved!

Currently on WC, thoughts on further changes? thinking of ditching Bos but I only have 5.8 for his replacement, Evans would be perfect, but he didn't start at the weekend.

    Given
    Brown Kompany Wilkinson
    Drenthe Ramsey VDV Silva
    RVP Adebayor Hernandez

    Ruddy Dyer Bosingwa Simpson

If you bought Ade recently then perhaps give him a break. If he was bought at 8 then perhaps give him the Villa game.

      Given Ruddy Bosingwa Chico

      to

Vorm (perhaps keep Ruddy) McAuley Bendtner

Always nice to have a warchest when you can to upgrade players without a hit.

Lot of talk of him getting dropped about. I really should have put in Enrique and got the cleanie. Then again I nearly put in Evans... πŸ™‚

I think I may do Petrov > Sess this GW and then possibly bring in Drenthe in GW14.

Hmm. I'm looking for a medium priced mid. Which one, if I have RVP already? No attacking coverage from these teams otherwise.

    A. Ramsey
    B. Sess
    C. Drenthe
    D. Walters
    E. Larsson
    F. Others

Walters may be short term as Im thinking of Walters > Drenthe in 2 GWs time.

Larsson is suspended and you have RVP so I think B is the best choice.

But not seen too much of Sess so I'm still undecided whether I'll bring him in.

true that. but everton barely score since they look to be more solid defensively. meh. they do have some tasty fixtures tho.
