Stoke boss Tony Pulis feels his players are struggling with their busy fixture schedule. Samir Nasri is sent home from the France squad with a knee problem while Carlos Tevez may be in trouble again, after returning to Argentina without Man City’s permission:

Tony Pulis is planning a players’ meeting after admitting his squad have struggled to deal with Stoke’s fixture schedule. The Potters have already played twenty-one games this season and have lost each of their last four fixtures directly after a Europa League match- Sunday’s 5-0 hammering at Bolton raising the alarm bells in particular. Pulis spoke of his concerns:

We’ve travelled all over Europe and played in the Premier League and Carling Cup and it’s been an unbelievably difficult thing to manage. We’re learning all the time but we need to see if there are things we can do better. The travelling, the hotel arrangements, training schedules, everything. I’ve been fortunate enough to get some advice off some of the best managers in the Premier League, but you still have to find out everything yourself.

Samir Nasri has been ruled out of France’s upcoming internationals with a knee problem. The player apparently picked up the injury in last week’s Champions League game in Villarreal and was an unused sub at QPR last Saturday. He has now returned to the club ahead of the gameweek twelve home clash with Newcastle on the 19th of this month.

Spurs confirmed yesterday that Michael Dawson has undergone further surgery to assist his recovery from an Achilles problem. The centre-half hasn’t played since gameweek three and will be reviewed by a surgeon early next month, with no time as of yet being cited as a return date.

Man City have fined Kolo Toure six week’s wages after his failed drugs test, while Carlos Tevez has decided not to contest the club’s misconduct charge relating to the game at Bayern Munich last month. According to reports, Tevez is now expected back at training tomorrow, as City look to finally lay the drawn-out saga to rest. Reports today, however, suggest Tevez could be in further trouble after flying back to Argentina without the club’s permission. Just when we thought we’d heard the end of it, too…

Antolin Alcaraz has been banned for three matches after accepting a charge of spitting following last Sunday’s game at Wolves. The Paraguayan will now miss games against Blackburn, Sunderland and Arsenal and will not be available until the 10th December trip to West Brom. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan will back whatever punishment Roberto Martinez deems appropriate after admitting he’s appalled by the player’s actions:

Steven Pienaar has spoken of his frustration after appearing just once this season –in a Europa League game- for Tottenham. Due to injuries and the form of others, the South African has been a peripheral figure at White Hart Lane since moving from Everton in January but has accepted it may be quite some time before he manages to establish himself:

It’s depressing. The team is playing well and getting results, which is satisfying. But I will definitely get my chance. There are a lot of games this season and you just have to be patient. There’s no way the team will perform at this level for the whole season. You just have to wait. In January I signed a four-and-half-year contract. If it’s not working out this season I’ll just have to wait until next season. That’s part and parcel of football. You just have to keep on going and don’t give up.

After a full investigation, Sunderland have fined Titus Bramble the maximum amount permitted for his recent off-field indiscretions. After confirming the player’s drug test was all clear, the club released an official statement on the matter.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hey guys played my WC this week and this is my draft team – would welcome any feedback you have!

    Vorm; Ruddy
    Vermaelen, Jones, Simpson, Enrique, Brown
    VDV, Silva, Pilkington, Eagles, Walters
    RVP, Adebayor, Dzeko

    0.1 leftover.

quite a bit of cash tied up in defence. some cheaper choices there could free up cash to beef up midfield.

I had Eagles early on and he did nothing for 6 GW's. i expect him to be quiet for a few weeks after his super GW11.

Ha, fair call although VDV/RVP/Silva/Ade have been in for a while.

What about Ade/Eagles out and Milner/Bendtner in?

I know the cheaper defenders have been gold this year but if you look at Arsenal/Man Utd's defence since Vidic/Vermaelen have returned, its been way tighter. And which cheaper defenders would I go for? Newcastles fixtures are atrocious, Swanseas also pretty rubbish.... none of the others can seem capable of clean sheets..

          personally not keen on

Vermaelen (suject to rest after long lay off and arsenal dotn get enough clean sheets.)
Adebayor - too inconsistent/lazy VDV is ample cover.
Eagles - not convinced can go missing for long periods, he plays for Bolton!
          Dzeko - rotation risk

I would look at getting a city defender in for sure

Adebayor inconsistent? I know a lot of recent returns have been luck but I think he's been amazingly consistent for returns so far.

I feel Ade is in a good attacking team and still capable to get double-digit a game on his day. There were none of laziness in his recent displays with a lot of ball holding and back tracking to defence. I still keep him..

At a glance I think it needs ManU cover. Either Rooney or Nani.
I would downgrade Vermaelen maybe Enrique, as fixtures are poor, and upgrde Adebayor

    Mata, Silva, vDV, Moses, Dyer
    Sturridge, Suarez, RvP

    2FT.

I think Bosingwa out is an obvious one but not sure who too. Would like to get Bendtner aswell but not sure on getting rid of any of my strikers. Downgrading Suarez for him leaves me like 4.3 in the bank aswell which i feel is too much not to be spending.

    Right, team at the moment:

    Begovic
    Kompany, Shawcross, Martin R
Sinclair, Pilkington, Van der Vaart, Bale, Silva
    Van Persie, Sturridge
    Krul; Warnock, Taylor, Ba

1 free transfer, 1.2 in the bank. I'm thinking warnock out, tempted by jones but that seems like too much money to have in defence. Thoughts?

Also, I can't see any gravatars and the fpl site itself has gone a bit weird, no pictures at all.

Got myself a conundrum this week...to be sure

Few players "dropping like a stone" and need to perform some £££ surgery I think.

Bosingwa & Nasri are the obvious choices to go but whatever way I look at it the replacement options seem just as as much of a liability..

maybe its cos I'm the only one thinking Stoke, Sunderland and Man United for the next few games cos there seems to be a "firesale" going on at the moment.

...basically can everyone just sell Shawcross now or all sign a binding contract stating that they won't do it after I bring him in pleeeeease... (i'm tryin to earn some honest cash here, jeez)

    So need some help ,
Looking for a cheap defender to replace Boswinga .

I say cheap ,can get better as have money , option around the 6 mark with Vermaelan , richards,
    kompany ,santos etc..

But ideally would like cheaper as save money for a rainy day .
Criteria would be good fixtures , maybe some attacking potential , and would like to keep them for a while ....asking to much ?
    Any suggestions ?

Or should I just go dull with Kompany

i got same issue with bos->longstayer.

      Pricey:
Verm could be a sure thing but not willing to splash out on arsenal defence. jenkins/santos cheaper options but are they worth it? richards/kompany only nailed on options from manC. Vidic if I didn't already have PJones...

      cheap:
no idea. wheater from bolton. norwich maybe?

Any wilcarders sitting with these players in their team like me:

    Vorm
    VDV
    Bale
    Eagles
    Allen
    RVP
    Dzeko
    Ba

^^^ Players who have had at least 0.1m price rise since opening of this gameweek.

    1) Who do we think will get another another 0.1 rise?
    2) Who do we envisage will stay in our final teams?

Anybody else without Aguero or Dzeko and do you plan to get one in?

It's a tough one because Rooney seems the only sure starter for United (and not playing in the 2 England friendlies will help) but along with RVP only leaves 1 striker option left. Dzeko/Aguero can be dropped at any time but maybe it's just the price you have to pay to own a player who should overall return a lot of points for his price.

Ba is another player I had in mind as the 3rd striker but something tells me Dzeko is going to be the best valued forward up until Winter WC time. Rooney / RVP / Dzeko seems the ultimate front 3.

I don't care how consistently they score or how they can score big with only 20mins on the pitch. I want players in my team that are starting week-in, week-out. Gonna stay away from the Man City forward line all season, Kompany and Silva are enough for me.

Liverpool are not a top team,, nowhere near.

RVP is the best striker in the premier league and one of the best in the world

Suarez is ok, not prolific though.

Last season chelsea had a dip around this time. No reason why they should again this time. I agree their defence is shoddy but now Bosingwa is dropped we should see a return to form for the chelsea defence.

I predict a 2-0 win to the Blues.

Before I post my stats, (put a lot of effort in 🙂 ), do people want stats on any others than the following:

Eagles, Pilkington, Sessegnon, Brunt, O'Hara, Walters, Sinclair, Ramsey, Drenthe, Song, Larsson, Rodwell and Cleverley.

Not done Dyer, Allen, B.Johnson or M*ses as this is only for mid-priced mids. Who on earth is fire?

I think you have to do Moses tbh. So many people have him in his team because they expect performances of players that little bit higher and you're doing Rodwell (5.3) anyway. I see your reasoning for Dyer because people know what they get with him but i like many others have strengthened a little elsewhere because we expect returns from Moses.

I think having a cheapie 3rd is definitely becoming a nice alternative lately. I used to play that way last season and it gives so much more leeway with the rest of the squad. Largely coz spurs have won 8 n drawn 1 of their last 9. jeez

    Mid-priced midfielders: (Ordered exp>cheap)

I thought I'd only really be comparing a couple of mids here but it appears there are many vying for our attention, fixtures or form, these people have impressed, or are looking to!

This is simply the past 6 weeks points for referral or my own personal thoughts if they've not played. You can view these how you like. I've not put these up to sway anyone one way or the other, just simple stats! I enjoyed doing this. Hope you guys like them! 🙂 (ordered by number of points).

    Eagles (5.4)

    Returns - 2, 1, 13, 2, 5, 15 = 38

    Cleverley (5.3)

    Returns - 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0 = 1
    Minutes played - 55. PPG - LOL. PPM - 0.02

SC - Injured obviously. Gets forward, may pick up a fair few assists. Cheap! Great fixtures.
Fixtures - swansea NEWCASTLE aston villa WOLVES qpr fulham

WARNING - This neglects Murphy for obvious reasons and also ignores international duties.
