Back in blighty, I make a long-awaited return to the podcast studio, armed with a barrel full of “miffeds”. Top of list – what happened last week? I turn my back and Mark goes and finds himself a new co-host. Luckily, the concept of Mark sharing the ScoutCast airwaves with renowned football expert was quickly frowned upon by the masses, paving the way for my jubilant return.

I say jubilant, the fact is that Mark established a decent mini-league lead in my absence, giving me a few jibes to duck in between moans. Such banter is sprinkled around the ScoutCast regulars, as we turn our backs of the high-brow discussion of last week’s outing, to plunge the depths of Fantasy football nonsense.

VDV again... No one knows for sure how he will be for the weekend. So, let me ask for your thought about his price. Is it going to drop tonight?

CTC is frozen but shows he was -145% at at 20:30 yesterday and TotalFPL shows -106% as of now. I calculated and he should be around -149% on CTC now.

I've not used TotalFPL for monitoring the drop this season and not sure if -100% is the threshold for flagged player. Do you think if his price will drop tonight?

I got him in a 9.7, would still make a profit if I sold him, but everyone in my ML has Bale (only 2 that had him other than me both took him out this week) he is now a huge differential for me and since I'm staying away from Bale and already have Silva I see no better alternatives until Nani or Young start delivering again.

exactly, thus you have to go mid priced, VdV could end being my Rooney or Suarez, that one you have that you just can't part with no matter what. Still not 100% nailed on to start, but not 100% nailed on not to either, until that is the case long term he's worth having IMO.

Yeah and we can't go for lots of mid priced mids because you can't get top team coverage at that price. VDV is an utter dilemma for me, clearly he's worth it at 100% and not at 0% but where do you draw the line in between? I'm actually counting minutes played now. If Mata explodes into consistency I'll bring him in.

likewise, but VdV is capable of exploding at any minute, when he plays there's a massive likelyhood he'll score well as he's quality, gets into the box a lot and is on set-pieces.

explode into form 😛 he is on pens, only reason Ade took it v WBA was VdV wasn't playing. The fact that he missed did him no favours in taking them off him full-time.

Natt I've been monitoring VDVs sales out too on CTC. Clearly his flagging has changed his NTO fall threshold but by how much? I think it was thought to be either something like 150% or 200%. If it's the latter he probably won't drop this week let alone tonight, if the former he will.

I think on TOTALFPL if you expand the price changes section it shows the exact transfer numbers for each player. By comparing to CTC I think you can work out if they're using the standard threshold (about 27000?) - or the flagged threshold.

Isaki.. CTC has just updated at 02:00 am and now shows VDV at -151%. I think I have seen Rooney went up to -170% last week but did not drop. I really would like to hope for his price remains there tonight and I will have one more day for decision.

I've no united and would like to take a put on A.Young visiting his old club, if VDV's out.

What do you think of my chance?

Right Natt, having looked at both sites I believe VDV could change price tonight but I'm not certain. Look at the CTC page, no one is on a bigger fall % than 150 except VDV. Almost all of those between 100-150% are flagged
This suggests the flag threshold is 150% meaning VDV will fall.
Also by checking the TOTALFPL numbers I can see they are using for VDV a fall threshold of 150% the usual (39000 instead of 27000) which also suggests that is the fall point.
I can't guarantee anything but I advise you sell to be safe. Hope this reached you in time!!

In fact I'm almost certain he'll drop because when Rooney didn't drop at 170% that was because his price was no longer above his starting price meaning his fall target was about 10% of total ownership, a bigger number (let's say 800,000 people own him, then he needs 80,000 transfers out which is 300%!)

Damn, I hate that feeling. I have VDV too but was keeping him anyway. After all the game is about points not money so why not take a few falls if your faith is rewarded with points? And we're both rich enough anyway ;D

The good news is that we now know the threshold is -150% for flagged players and VDV will need another 40000 transfers out by Sat 3am to drop again - unlikely. So you have plenty of time to decide now.

Rich enough.. Haha.. Love that. 😀

At this stage, I have no plan to sell VDV but hope he will be announced fit and has a good result on this weekend. The real bad news for me is Jags.

I've been planning all week to get Jags before his rise, but VDV got me doubt if I should spend my FT to replace him.. I missed both in the end. 🙁

Argh, I had that happen to me with Dzeko, RVP and VDV earlier in the season. Each time at 4am I'd still be deciding then see the price had changed! I care less now about price changes because I've realized I'm not spending the money that wisely anyway. My expensive players have flopped.

Ultimately I'm not sure Jags is worth it anyway. The Everton defence probably won't keep more CS than Newcastle or even Swansea and their defenders are cheaper. If I got an Everton defender it would only be Baines for his penalties, assists and bonus bonanza! Really getting tempted.

It's Evans that I plan to replace by Jags. I think Jags is some attacking threat as his shot per game is not bad for DF. Btw, to get Baines, it need a massive change in my team to accommodate him..

I was hoping Moses took long shots.

Its too late to find a replacement for him anymore (not worth upgrading and no one else around 4.6 I'd rather have). He got an assist last week! If one of my starters hadn't played then he comes on for 5.

              who is your other keeper?

You can get Allen (think he's more likely to get big points than Dyer) then take Aguero out next week (though maybe hold off on Allen, give yourself 2 frees, take out Aguero to Ba/Ade, or get them both and get Klasnic out, and maybe upgrade Moses to a Bale

I'm also fairly sure Sinclair will score, but I'm looking at taking him out for Drenthe as I think 2 Swans mids is enough. So if you want to keep Sinclair maybe pick B Johnson, but you could just hold off until next week and have the 2 freebies, it's like a reward for resisting the urge, trust me.

                Sorry, stepped away for dinner.

And I'm keeping Klasnic so I can bump my Aguero slot to Runepig once he's on form again, but I might dump Moses to Johnson next week if nothing else looks nice.

My second keeper is Al-Habsi (as mentioned prior)

Even if he's passed fit, he won't be match fit. My reading of the situation from use of logic leads me to believe he won't make the bench. He has already brought him back too early once, at a price. The medical staff don't seem to think he's ready, thats who harry needs to listen to.

Bolton are beatable without him. I also reckon Bolton will be physical, putting VDV at greater risk.

          Haha, nice.

          But yeh, fair enough.

I'm a very sensible player on this usually, but really feel like doing something a little different. Perhaps captaining Silva is a safer deviation.

I actually agree with the 'lottery' comments, but for some reason I've found it less enjoyable. I think I preferred the game with the more consistently performing expensive players of yesteryear (Ronaldo, Nani, Rooney, Fabregas, Lampard). Just RVP seems to fall into that bracket right now.

I'll probably agree with you lot on another day though.

Just gives me the jitters to see him miss out completely on the last game and with players returning from injury it will be interesting to see if Fergie can name him every PL match. Problem is being a versatile player he may be used to cover gaps in the squad in other competitions like CL, FA Cup and Europa League (just kidding) making him less certain for the PL.

He is awesome though, maybe he's worth the uncertainty.

Yeah the points speak for themselves, totally agree. resting him was truly just tired and fergie gave him a rest, only to be expected with the shifts he put in (190 mins for england + weekend game straight after). He's sooooo worth his price tag 🙂
