As we announced in our previous post, Rafael Van der Vaart is available for Spurs tomorrow. Elsewhere, another fast and furious Friday brings plenty news from around the Premier League- read on for more as the press conference updates begin to roll in.

Dimitar Berbatov, Rafael and Fabio have all been ruled out of Man United’s trip to Aston Villa tomorrow. The trio picked up injuries in the midweek Carling Cup defeat by Crystal Palace, though Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the Bulgarian’s injury is not a serious one.

Sylvain Distin looks set to return for Everton’s game against Stoke. The centre-half has been training with the first-team since Monday and is likely to recover from a groin strain ahead of the Goodison clash on Sunday. Phil Neville, Jack Rodwell and Royston Drenthe are all being assessed as the Toffees go for three wins in a row.

Shane Long is to take pain-killing injections in order to overcome a groin problem and play at QPR tomorrow. With Zoltan Gera ruled out for the season earlier this week, Long’s presence up front will be a major boost for West Brom ahead of the Loftus Road showdown.

Cheik Tiote will be missing once again for Newcastle as Chelsea make their make to Tyneside. The Ivorian has been sidelined for five games now, though Danny Guthrie has proven to be an able deputy alongside Yohan Cabaye. Leon Best is set to recover from a groin problem and boost Alan Pardew’s forward options.

Steve Kean received a significant boost ahead of tomorrow’s game with Swansea. Chris Samba, Martin Olsson and Michel Salgado are all available for the Ewood Park showdown for bottom of the table Blackburn. Junior Hoilett is a doubt, though, having picked up a virus.

Owen Coyle’s defensive worries are starting to ease up. Joe Riley is making good progress from a hamstring problem, while Sam Rickets has been penciled in for a reserve outing next week as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury. Neither will feature tomorrow at Spurs, though. Coyle confirmed both Dedryk Boyata and David Ngog are in contention for comebacks tomorrow, though Ricardo Gardner and Nigel Reo-Coker are rated as “touch and go”, with knee and hamstring problems respectively.

Danny Graham is a major doubt for Swansea at Blackburn tomorrow. Leroy Lita is likely to lead the line for the Swans, with Graham struggling to overcome an Achilles problem sustained in last week’s draw with Aston Villa. Ashley Richards should deputise for Angel Rangel at right-back, with the Spaniard sidelined for a month with an ankle injury picked up in the same game.

Richard Stearman is set for a speedy return to the Wolves first-team. The right-back looks likely to play with a protective cast on his injured wrist on Sunday at home to manager-less Sunderland- Ronald Zubar seems set to drop out again for the crucial clash against the Black Cats.

Neil Warnock revealed he is still optimistic that Shaun Wright-Phillips will be involved in QPR’s game with West Brom. The winger- who has been playing up front of late- picked up a foot injury last week but is set to feature, providing he comes through today’s training session unscathed. Adel Taarabt could return to the first-team squad, while Kieron Dyer and David Connolly are making good progress from injury.

Damien Duff is a doubt for Fulham’s game with Liverpool on Monday night. The winger returned to the first-team in last night’s Europa League clash with FC Twente but suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If United continue with the dullest football known to man (get a cleansheet and a single goal) then I wouldn't be on it. United attacking options seem pretty weak when compared to most other top teams.

Manatee, I don't like the look of Cahill, too many injury question marks and Everton are struggling to score. Plus, doubling up in mid with Everton cannot be smart. I'd stick, play the team you have and play double FT next GW.

      Lamp to Young.
Young looked dangerous for ManU last time he played, maybe getting back in the points soon i think.
Depends on your faith and the news of whether Lamps is gonna play. Don't see them getting much versus Newcastle anyways, especially seeing tho ManU didnt.

      Yeah, Sinclair or O'Hara.

Sinclair's on pens against Blackburn, but O'Hara's facing a Sunderland team without a manager, so its a tough choice, out of those two i'd play Sinclair, as O'Hara won't necessarily be oop this week.
Though I can see BAE conceding against Bolton, so you could bench him or Koscielny despite their good fixtures.

    SCOUTS

Just been looking through the Team News section, the only thing I'd question is this about Newcastle:

"This Time Around…Alan Pardew will be without Jonas Gutierrez, who sits out though suspension- Peter Lovenkrands is the obvious choice to fill in on the left wing."

Is he the obvious choice? I doubt very much he'll start as a LW, I think Sameobi is more likely in that role, or even Santon as LB and Raylor pushed higher up if he wants a more defensive lineup. Another alternative depends on Leon Bests fitness, if fit he could go back up front and HBA play LW.

I think all of those more likely than an unhappy Lovenkrands being used as a LW. Though I admit there is a possibility of him playing, I wouldnt use 'obvious'.

    Sorry for nitpicking.

Feno, Baines/Bale would be my call. Not happy with Cahill's injury risk or EVE's poor goal scoring, and Fulham too hit and miss to justify Dempsey for me.

Baines/Mata would be qual-li-teeee but that's probably too expensive. Difficult to judge with no team link.

Defoe's played 90 minutes back-to-back last weekend and on Thursday, got to think the Dutchman will start.

Arry keeps on saying that Defoe's been doing really well and that he's got a hard decision to make every week, but every time VDVs been fit he's been picked.

I think that might have been a coincidence, on the pitch I always feel like VDV and Adebayor have a good understanding. Adebayor has assisted 3 or VDV's goals I think.

I can't really find any logical reason why Defoe would benefit Adebayor, Defoe just shoots at sight. God he makes me angry just writing about him.

Whenever i've seen Spurs with Defoe starting they have looked a better team. You can't argue with VDV's returns, they are top notch.

Anyone finding with the prices rises being so volatile this season it is hard to get to Fridays without already using your freebie(s)?

The temptation to do things earlier just seems far higher this year. Perhaps it makes for a more interesting game.

It's a close call but I'd say holding back until Friday or Saturday is usually the best strategy, not that I have been a chief employer of said strategy.

Very likely I wouldn't have, in truth.

Go back to earlier in the week though when I had this option and tell me what would you do?
A possibly fit VDV and Bendtner OR Bale and Adebayor

What would you have done? I'm happy with the judgement call I made but a little frustrated about being forced into it.

      - Do transfers at the beginning of the week, when I know that the player is going to rise and I might not be able to afford him later in the week, and/or want to catch the profit of a player.

      - Do transfers at the end of the week if not, just to keep on top of who is on form.

It's not always as simple as this is it though?

The VDV situation is a prime example. The volatile price changes lead quite a few of us to make our transfers very early. I was only prepared to ship VDV (and consequently Bentdner) if I could bring in Bale and Ade to compensate as Spurs coverage. To do this I simply could not wait, it had to be done there and then. It seems these type of decisions are more common place this season, from my experience at least.

This isn't petty bitterness btw. I'm happy enough with my lot, just commenting on the subtle nuances of this crazy game.

Unless its absolutely essential I always wait until as late as possible, doing transfers early to ensure you catch price rises/drops is important but alot of the time I opt to sacrifice catching rises/drops for the extra time to check on injuries, team news etc.

Ultimately, its every players individual choice what strategy they go with. Perhaps just playing it week by week is the best strategy, as flexibility in this game is so important is you want to be successful.

Looks like I'm back to the Sturridge vs. Ba debate, think Ba's "easy" fixtures could be more difficult than they seem so I'm trying to just focus on who I'm backing this weekend. Leaning towards Chelsea atm...

But Sturridge is out wide and Ba is central and involved in everything Necastle do. Ba all day long for me.

Well just remember Demba still managed to score against United (albeit a penalty that never should have been) who, despite their poor form at the minute, aren't really considered easy. So you never know. Realistically, it's all just a big lottery.
