Gameweek 14 saw 512 fantasy managers do battle in the second round of the fifth Paddy Power Cup. The full list of results can be accessed by clicking right here. Read on for some of the highlights from the round…

In successive weeks we’ve now lost two former tournament winners, with Gooner dave biting the dust this time after losing 69 – 63 to DaFoe22. There was better luck for Jonty and Ninja_Fit_Saints, who progressed at the expense of Duggans Dreamteam (91 – 50) and 369 mofo (74 – 66) respectively.

Also heading into the third round is Mark, who came out on top in an epic 89 – 87 match with McEwan. He’s now the last remaining Scout after greek fan succumbed  79 – 76 to mvtaylor.

Round One’s top dog, Gulikgul, couldn’t recreate any of the magic from last week, as he crashed out embarrassingly 82 – 41 to Gorby. That was the seventh-worst score of the round, and even if he could captain his entire team he would’ve still been knocked out.

It was left then to elfortu to earn the top score this week, with an incredible 112 – thrashing chemikills (60) as a result. He was one of four fantasy managers notching a ton this week, along with theonefjef (107), This is hard 1 (107) and The Yassasinators (101) also reached the milestone.

Also through this week is bobbyg, who went into the second round as the highest-ranked fantasy manager in the competition and lived up to his billing as one of the early favourites. The now 50th in the world team ran out 76 – 70 winners against huma.

Congratulations to everyone making it through to the next stage, and commiserations to those exiting the competition at this moment.

The draw for the third round will be made and published on Thursday.

Can't deny this was a very tasty victory, remembering Mark's words from the draw:

Quote: "Gooner dave has it even easier, coming up against DaFoe22, who sits just outside the top 600k."

Some standard usable acronyms that FFS could do with: (Courtesy: Dead-zone contributers) 😉

    NS – Nice Scoring
FAPH – For A Point Hit
    RVPFC – RVP For Captain
RVPFCOGTFO - RVP for captain or get the F out (For when RVP is so obviously the captain choice, but someone has the C on someone else. Like Gw14)
    WC – Wildcard
SIRO – Subs in right order
    RMT – Rate my team
    WVDVS – Will VDV Start
MITFM – Mata Is The F*cking Man
BPPP – Bonus point prediction please
MINI – Money is no issue

Feel free to use them & play around 😉

I'd say all of Chelsea's midfielder/attack is likely to be rested at some point of Christmas - quite a lot of competition for the front 6 positions there. Ramires and Mata are perhaps the two most likely to feature in all of the games though.

    Ajax vs Real Madrid.

Ajax have a lot of absentees going into this game tonight : Boilesen, Bruno Silva, Siem de Jong and Sigthorsson are all injured while Derk Boerrigter is a doubt, there is some good news for them as van der Wiel returns to the team. Sulejmani and Aissati are also doubts but will more than likely play.

Real haven't brought their full squad but I think the team going is more than good enough to beat an Ajax side with these injuries. I imagine they will probably line-up something like this:

    Adan
    Arbeloa Varane Albiol Coentrao
    X.Alonso Sahin
    Altintop Kaka Callejon
    Higuain/Benzema

Everything considered the away win @ 7/5 is a great price. I might even have a stake on them -1 @7/2. Good Luck.

Are Suarez owners working an exit strategy at the moment? I'm thinking:

    Suarez>Studge
    Ramsey>Nani
    Jenrique>Ollsson

Gives team below - deliberately light defensively!

    Vorm
    Turner/Simpson/Olsson
    Mata/VDV/Silva/Nani
    RVP/Ade/Studge
    (Hennessey/Wilko/NTaylor/Dyer)

If he does get shifted to LB, I honestly feel his value seriously drops... no more marauding runs through the middle and less chance of CS with a weakended defence. He'll still go up with set pieces, I assume.

Stoke's last 2 victories have annoyed the hell out of me, I pretty much made my transfers on the assumption they would keep falling. Very annoying. I'd play BAE, can't believe he doesn't have more assists the amount he sees the ball on that left wing.

Double swansea is the much better bet considering newcastle will be without s taylor and colocinni, the heart of their clean sheet potential. plus ntaylor has slightly more attacking potential. swansea defense at home is a good bet, at home to a team notorious for struggling with goals is a great bet

haha ok buddy, if you think you know fulham because they scored late against liverpool... good for you. they don't always pull it off late in the game, and they got their goal only because pool were down to 10. I don't understand this fear with doubling up, I'll play 2 players from the same team any day of the week if I think they have better points potential than 'play it safe' and diversify with a bad investment. Have norwich failed to score once this season? If they have, I bet it wasn't at home.

i don't claim to know FUL at all. they just seem like an annoying team who grab late, scrappy goals.

and no need to convince me about doubling up, i've had Vorm and Naylor all season.

Awkward because norwich lost 1-0 at home to West Brom earlier in the season.

I'd double up on Swansea defence though, like yourself.

Haha I know, I can see them getting 2 or 3 against us this weekend and if I still had a NUFC defender, I certainly wouldn't be playing them.

I expect Norwich's ability to score goals will keep them in the league.

Just took out Hernandez for Ba and that free cash is burning a hole in my virtual pocket.

    I'm annoyingly.1 off doing Ramsey > Nani...

    Ramsey > A.Young for a hit?

    Team is

    Krul - Westwood
    Baines - Jones - Naylor - Brown - SImpson
    VDV - SIlva - Walters - Ramsey - Dyer
    RVP - Sturridge - Ba

    Ta!

Yeah have considered Mata but don't think its worth it for a hit this week with Chelsea playing City.

Been burnt by Walcott in the past so he's a no go for me.... and I don't fancy doubling up on Spurs mids, don't think their fixtures are THAT great anymore to be honest.

Its between Young and Mata I think, and the fact I've already got Studge, plus teh fixtures is making me lean towards Young...???

Worst case scenario for VDV is being benched. He will get game time.

Why not wait a week...you will easily field 11 this week. That way you can ditch Ferguson and another without a hit. If VDV starts and scores you will be furious, especially for a hit.

I ditched VDV last week for Bale...I've made my bed and am lying in it. But if I had VDV and Bale this week there's no way I'd ditch.

The risk with Nani/VDV is that Arry might start him on the bench again. Even if he plays he might be rusted after his layoff, might tweak the bloody hammy again and even if he gets 90min his fix is tougher than that of Nani.

Who knows what curve ball gets thrown at us tonight...

    Hi all..

    Current situation is:

    Given Kenny
    Jose Walker Saylor Evans Verm
    Drente O'hara Dyer Silva VDV
    RVP Ade Holliet

    Certain work needed.

Thinking Krul in for Given, Saylor out for Smalling/Jones.

Then depending on what happens tonight i am tempted by Welbeck or even Valencia..
