The draw for the third round of the Paddy Power Cup V has been made and can be viewed right here. All 128 fixtures will play out over the upcoming Gameweek 15, and here are a few ties of note…

The reigning champ, Ninja_Fit_Saints, has to overcome an opponent over 100 points ahead in the overall standings. The.Special.One will go into the match-up a clear favourite to knock out the champ. On the other hand, our only other previous winner in the competition, Jonty, faces a low-ranked, trigger-happy opponent in 66irons.

Last week’s top-scorer has drawn EasyLuckyFree, a fantasy manager that sits over 100k places better off than elfortu, who now looks set to take a similar route to round one’s top-scorer. Elimination.

Mark is still going strong but finds himself up against Domo this week, who holds a slender one-point advantage over the Head Scout. With draws settled on overall standings, domo is effectively half a point ahead already.

The one competitor who will be ruing his luck is Lestat, who has the misfortune of being paired off against 50th in the world, bobbyg.

We’re yet to see a fully-fledged glamour tie so far in this season’s tournament, but there are still plenty of ‘big’ names battling away in the hope of seeing their names up in lights. The likes of denial, applebonkers, Lad V, EpicFAIL, Der-Hammer95 and Hillbillypete to name but a few, are still in the mix at this stage.

I wish good luck to all 256 participants and I’ll bring you the results shortly after Gameweek 15 has concluded.

    Hello

Please can you give some advice?

    My team is:

    Vorm (Westwood)

    Richards, Jones, baines (Simpson, Gabbidon)

    Silva, Drenthe, VDV, Moses (dyer)

    Balotelli, RVP, Adebayor

I have used my free transfer and 3.4m in the bank.

What do you think I should do?

I was thinking of doing Bale in for drenthe???

    Please help ASAP!!!!

    Thanks

Cant fail with bale, although I'd be shipping Mario off soon too, rotation risk and bad fixtures ahead! Get in Ba or Yak for Balotelli and then upgrade Moses to a decent midfielder.

Well then you're one step ahead of the comp! But I would definitely be getting Bale in ASAP, even if he goes quiet over Xmas very one else has him and you can't afford not to given his current form, and ears!

VdV, Drenthe and Rooney to Bale, Nani and Yakubu
    4 point hit.

    MOAN ALERT.

Two weeks ago I brought in Hernandez, last week he gets injured.
Last week I brought in Vidic, this week he gets injured.
Taking 4 point hits in each case as it's all part of a longer term plan. Sums up my season so far.

Already done my free transfer this week taking out the injured Hernandez, so now I'll probably have to take a hit just to get rid of Vidic too. Plus my big defence plan looks rather shite now as I just don't trust United to keep clean sheets consistently without Vidic, so now I'm completely clueless as to what the hell to do. This game can be frustrating as f*ck. 😡 x loads and loads. Grrrr, etc.

Well I had to take Hernandez out anyway, as he was injured (I've waited until Friday/Saturday for pretty much all transfers this season). I already had Vidic for last week by the way, didn't transfer him in early this week.

My last 4 transfers have been Drenthe (hasn't played a minute), Bendy (3 points in all games), Rangel (injured after 20odd minutes and Swansea keep a clean sheet - 1 point) and Jagielka (2 points). A total of 6 points from 3 weeks worth of transfers, luckily no hit. There's something in the water.

    Important Question.

Currently have VDV and Aguero and i want some United Cover for this weekend and ongoing fixtures. I have Jones in D but not enough.

Do i do VDV to Nani (i already have Bale) Or
Do i do Aguero to Rooney (I already have Silva)

    Leaving me with either

    Bale, Silva Nani,
    RVP, Sturridge, Aguero

    or

    Bale, Silva, VDV,
    RVP, Sturridge, ROONEY.
    .......

      I would go with Nani.

Roo last night night didn't look so great plus he seemed to be pushed out to the wing when wellbeck came on.

Nani look dangerous and was unlucky to not get an assist or two.

I've no idea quite honestly. Would it be Adam or Henderson who would drop back and fill that gap until Spearing is back from his ban? Wouldn't fancy that though.

Smalling probably nailed on for the foreseeable future now, will see how United'a defence holds up in the next game or 2.
I know Vidic makes a huge difference but the fixtures should be easy enough for Jones (or Fabio if Jones plays mid) Smalling/Ferdinand and Evra to handle.
    Unless Evans plays 😉

Had 2 free. Did Given to Krul to catch price rise and avoid the drop, and one more freebie, but want to keep it to do either Jones/Komapany/Enrique to Baines next week, and will need to downgrade someone else to fund it.

        Vorm (Krul)
        Jones Kompany Enrique (Simpson, Wilkinson)
        VDV Silva Walters Dyer (Ferguson)
        RVP Adebayor Aguero

could someone please give me some advice on this squad:

    westwood | vorm

    jones | enrique | mcauly | simpson | wilkinson

    walters | VDV | Silva | ramsey | johnson

    aguero | rvp | bendy

2 free transfers and 0.4 in the bank

    Was thinking maybe

aguero bendy and ramsey/walters to bale adeybayor and yakubu/sturrdige (I'm 0.1 out of Ba)

Or anything else? I'm at a lose end this week, need to get rid of bendy so could do just bendy to Yakubu and leave 2 frees for next week?

After a quick look at paddypowers odds for next gw, it may seem i'll bench Silva or Baines

Team ( With odds of goals (G) or clean sheets (CS) )

    Vorm CS 3

    Enrique G 12, CS 1,90 | Jones G :6, CS: 1,72 | Raylor G:6, CS 3,60

    VDV G: 2,87 | Bale G: 3,30 | Sinclair G: 3.25 | Silva G:4

    Ade G: 2,40 | Yak G: 3,00 | RVP G: 1,83

    Subs: Ruddy | Baines G: 7,50, CS 6 | CS 3,30 Ward G: 8 CS 12 (Ferguson)

Ofcourse City scores more and Silva more likely of an assist. But still hes just 25% to score.

Eeek, tough draw (again) in the PP Cup this week. Differentials below - who's your money on?

Subs to potentially come in (Reo-Coker, Simpson, Wilkinson)

        Westwood vs Vorm(evens imo)
        Vermaelen vs Kompany (1-0)
        Brown vs Enrique(0-1)
        Sinclair vs Walters(0-1)
VDV vs Bale(Evens if! VDV plays>60mins)
Suarez vs Sturridge (Evens at best imo)

So my idea was to get rooney if he scored well last night and got his ban reduced today. Failing that i was getting in Vidic and going big united. After last night i am stumped.... United without vidic will ship goal, meaning they'l need to score at least 2 to win which they'l need to do after last night they need to bounce back against wolves, so im still temted with rooney for some reason. Nani could be a good out let also. Ach i have no idea what to do.

did think about a 4pt hit to do simpson/vidic out for skrtel/agger n treble on them but carragher wont stay on the bench forever

Seems like a good idea, but do you have many players who are at rotation risk? vdv vidic wilkinson caulker are the only ones i think who wont start every game. I thionk you can get by, it just when do you think you can maximise your points from a WC? Just a heads up - come GW30ish you'll want to stock up on alot of spurs players till the end of the season

just looked and you're right, also fulham newcastle rotate perfectly until gwk28 and then fulham sunderland rotate perfectly until the end of the year after that so could be worth holding on

That Vidic injury has changed my week from a proper head scratcher to a no brainer, it's nice when you don't have to make decisions.

      Looking at:

      Krul/Vorm
      Walker Evans Brown Naylor (Simpson)
      Silva VdV Ramsey (Drenthe) (Dyer)
      RVP Rooney Ade

      Seems reasonably decent?

Bloody Rooney, I hate the guy, had him for the last few eeks of last season - nothing, start with RVP instead this season and I'm getting on a hundred points back come GW4, get him in again - nothing! $*£*!@$!

Stilicho, if you truly believe that Rooney is going to hit some form and that VDV will start against Stoke then it looks fine.

For me (Crappy ranking at the moment) then I'd have a serious think about Rooney after last night's debacle, and also consider the fact that VDV was losing form before he got injured.

If you'd watched those few games then you'd know what I mean.

You were a great help to me last season so I'm hoping I can return the favour. 🙂

Thanks mate, tbh I don't back Rooney to suddenly spring into life and would perhaps have had him out for Hernandez this week if he wasn't injured, but losing him never feels like my number one priority for the week 🙂

Similarly I've given VdV to Bale a lot of thought and decided to stick this week at least, VdV doesn't need to do much to score well historically, I think he should start, and the last thing I want - having been stung by Bale last week, is to do the switcheroo then get immediately stung by VdV!

Same applies to my relationship with Adebayor.

Whenever he's on form I don't have him, and when I do get him in he becomes Mosesesque. If that's an adjective. 🙂

But I did take the plunge from VDV to Bale. Probably more out of frustration after watching him do sod all for two games in a row whilst my mini-league rival racked up the Bale points and value.

I have Ade now, so I'd recommend anyone to get rid since either he's a jinx on my team or I'm a jinx on his ability to stick the effing round thing into the square thing. 😀

Only the one of them we were talking about, you whining git. 🙂

Count yourself lucky that I don't have more of your players!

Erm....Actually our teams are pretty similar so I'm sorry to say that you're basically f*cked. 🙁 😉
