It’s a tricky one as well this week, what with our usual favourites involved in unfavourable fixtures. Most weeks an automatic choice, Robin van Persie finds himself in unfamiliar territory in the Gameweek 16 Captain’s Poll. The likes of Demba Ba and Emmanuel Adebayor are leading the way, highlighting how pivotal the captaincy could be this week. Choose carefully.

      Two things to think about in the Ba vs Adebayor captaincy battle:

      1. Ba has been responsible for 55% of Newcastle's goals in the EPL this season, the highest contribution any player has made for his club... if you think Swansea will get thrashed away again, chances are Ba's involved.

      2. Only Man United, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea have conceded fewer goals than Sunderland this season... and that was before they got their new defensive-minded manager.

        OK, but Sunderland have only conceded 2 less than Swansea, whereas Tottenham have scored 9 more than Newcastle.

        And Adebayor was not on pens before, now he seems to be.

        Everton haven't kept a cleansheet @ Goodison all season!

        Going forward Baines has just a single assist and two spot-kick goals.

        Of course home to Norwich is a good fixture to flip the script but i wouldn't bet anything of value on it!

      Bal4tom, as a man who captained baines in game week 2, in my opinion, you are making a mistake. (According to somehting i read here in last day or so) Baines has 2 goals and 2 cleansheets all season, that's not great capt material. Ba would be a slighty better choice. That said I think I'm going to capt. Sturridge, as Swansea could very well frustrate Newcastle.Who your other attacking players? Good luck today.

      Silva (c) is a tricky one, in any game. He's scored consistent points all season without ever really notching a massive haul. I onlyy he had the goal threat of say Nani or VDV.

        Swansea really are being underestimated today I think. I know the Yak ran wild last time out against them when they played away, but their possession style of play could thwart Newcastle today.
