This Sunday brings a whole host of soccer action across the globe. Right now Santos are trying valiantly to hold off Barcelona in Japan while in the evening there’s some tasty action on the continent. The Dugout Discussion opens for the juicy Premier League filling in this football sandwich…

QPR play host to Manchester United in an earlier than normal kick-off as Gary Neville sets in for a triple header of televised “Super Sunday” fixtures – with a fourth game off screens for good measure.

Neil Warnock drafts in Matthew Connolly for the injured Anton Ferdinand while Heidar Helguson returns from injury himself. Ferguson must have a temperature as he makes the rare decision to field an unchanged side from that which beat Wolves – his usual fables on the injury front also show Javier Hernandez fit enough to return to the bench. Teams in full are…

QPR XI: Cerny; L Young, Connolly, Gabbidon, Traore; Wright-Phillips, Barton, Faurlin, Mackie; Helguson, Bothroyd (Subs: Kenny, Orr, Hill, Derry, Taarabt, Campbell, Smith).

United XI: De Gea; Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Nani; Rooney, Welbeck (Subs: Berbatov, Giggs, Park, Hernandez, Young, Lindegaard, Fryers.).

Fantasy Managers will then have to settle in for not just Aston Villa hosting Liverpool but Manchester City against Arsenal on television screens. Plenty of captain’s armbands will be following Spurs vs Sunderland also going on while these two games take place.

This Dugout Discussion is also my last planned contribution for quite some time so I’ll wish you all many happy returns over the hectic festive period of football coming up while I’m here. Thanks for your continued support over what’s been a grand old 2011.

Most obvious option for a clean sheet, the fixtures take out RVP, Silva and Aguero.

Right, Bale out and I have Ramsey coming on. It's bloody annoying but that's life and FPL. I'll really start getting pissed if it's a long-term injury though.

So what's that mean for all you VDV and Adebayor owners? Well, if the Trinity is fit Spurs seem to normally line up in a 4-4-VDV-Ade formation with a midfield of Bale on the left, Lennon on the right and Parker and Modric in the centre.

    Today Spurs' lineup is:
    Lennon
    Parker
    Van der Vaart
    Modric
    Sandro
    Adebayor

There is only one winger there because Bale has been replaced by a DM (Sandro) so I highly doubt we'll see 4-4-2. Instead, I'm pretty confident we'll see 4-2-3-1, with the front six as follows:

    .......................Adebayor.........................
    ......Modric..........VDV..............Lennon....
    ................Parker...........Sandro..............

This means Spurs play without wingers and more of the play should go through the centre, although they will likely continue to use BAE and Walker as overlapping full-backs for width. This means central players like VDV and Modric may have a better chance of points today. Whether that will affect Ade or help him - I don't know.

Yeah, my hope is VDV/Modric/Lennon play through balls to him. Ade makes good runs and has played at lots of clubs where delicate through balls are the norm so he could do it. Unfortunately VDV is a greedy bastard! 😀
