Arsene Wenger has brought us the confirmation we wanted on Robin Van Persie’s chances of facing QPR today – unfortunately, Arsenal have chosen to publish the statement several hours too late for Fantasy managers and the Fantasy Premier League deadline.

The good news, for most , is that Van Persie will face QPR, with Wenger set to assess his skipper again before selecting him for Monday’s visit to Fulham.

“He will play tomorrow, then we will assess the situation with him on Sunday and Monday morning and make a decision…I don’t rule it out but he’s one of the players who has played a lot and you see again, against Wolves on Tuesday, he’s the guy who gives absolutely everything in every game at the moment…He knows, ‘I have to score’, so he’s always on the fringe of pushing himself. Let’s hope he can get through the next two games.”

From those comments, it appears that Van Persie will not only start against QPR today, he will also stand a good chance of making the trip to Craven Cottage, particularly if Wenger can afford him a rest in the latter stages of today’s game.

Van Persie did of course top our Captain Poll and also find a place in our Scout Picks – a decision that appears to have paid off following this confirmation. There will however, be plenty of Van Persie owners who will have put their faith in either Nani or Wayne Rooney for the Fantasy Premier League captaincy, concerned that the Arsenal skipper would not start today’s game. They now face an anxious day, with United kicking-off at 12.45 against Blackburn, and Van Persie to follow at 3pm.

That minority will be open for minimal damage from the Dutchman – with Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record in sight, that might just be a forlorn hope.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

just a precaution taking him off i think

(he should get the assist in the newcastle goal when they review it)

Said on BBC live text it was a combination of tactical and injury sub. Raylor had some sort of niggle and was replaced by Santon to shore up the defence, impression was Raylor was getting forward but not defending well enough. Someone who watched it fill us in please...
Got rid of Raylor for hibbert this week for the same reasons - rotation risk with Santon and injury doubt.

You're all right to be honest. The threat of a second yellow was mot definitely there, downing was giving him a tough time to say the least. That, plus the niggle, meant Santon came on. Wasn't all that impressed with Santon either, especially the dodgy haircut.

Bellamy has played 5 times over 60 minutes. Only once he drew a blank scoring 4 goals & 2 assists in the other 4. When Suarez 8 match ban begins, he's in my team.

Yeah I wouldn't replace eiher of those with Bellamy. But while Ba is in the ACON, Bellamy would come for Adebayor. Basically I wish to get similar returns to Adebayor with lower price. When Ba comes back I'll switch back to him.

He does look a handful and he's got goals in him - very credible third striker in anybody's team.

However, when I play my wildcard it will probably be RVP, Aguero and (possibly) Sturridge up front.

Can you not afford to take our Shotton or Simpson for Walker or BAE?

Could even take a look at Jagielka or Hibbert for the DGW. I know we won't keep a cleanie against Spurs but would be very disappointed if we couldn't do it at home against Bolton.

If with Arsenal's fixtures, Verm looks dangerous when they attack and is a huge threat from set-pieces.

Why would you even consider that, the man was very bad FPL wise the last time he was here. And very doubtful he will get a start right away. More likely to start at the FA Cup IMO. And drenthe has done well so far, why get rid now???

        + 1

Donovan was brilliant last time for us, but like you said, very poor for FPL. Always got the assist to the assist, like a yank version of Ramsey.

Drenthe will play both games but not the whole 90. He's defensively suspect which is why Moyes takes him off around the 70th min mark.

The guy averaged about 5.5 pts a game last time he was here. He got 40pts in 648 minutes, averaging out at 5.55 per game, you can round it to 6 if you want.

Im not sure how thats a not even worth considering when Walters (top of the list for under 7m and under) is averaging about 4 and everyone loves him!!

        Definately worth a punt imo

    WALKER/gabbidon/JAGS (shotton/naylor)
    nani/DONOVAN/BALE/silva/valencia

I don't think a 4pt hit is worth taking for this DGW. Maxing up on Spurs makes sense, but I'm struggling to see the enthusiasm for getting evertonians in. Away at the Lane is a hard fixture for them, I can quite see every player getting no more than 2 points. Thus unless you're gonna captain Donovan (and why would you when you can captain Ade or Bale), it's not worth it pointswise.

I'm gonna ride it out personally with just Bale, Ade, Drenthe and maybe one Spurs defender if I decide so later on today.

I have Bale, Ade and Drenthe and Friedel in goal.

Don't know why more people aren't going for Friedel this GW instead of BAE actually. He's guaranteed 90 mins for both games and gets save points, so even if Spurs don't keep a cleanie he could still outscore guys like BAE and Walker.

As for Everton, other than Drenthe or Osman (Baines is too expensive for my liking) and possibly Jagielka there's nothing there that would make m want to take a 4 point hit for GW20. I wouldn't even take a 4 pointer for any of those I just mentioned.

In fact, I may not even make any changes this GW anyway as I'm pretty much all set for DGW'ers and I'm hoping Naylor will be ft for selection by then.

I've had Osman ever since Cahill was dropped (4 gws ago) and Drenthe from a while ago.

Have Bale and Ade so thinking of either bringing in Baines or Walker.

      I'm not.

      Nani captain and Sturridge VC.

Nani only played 60mins against Wigan so no reason why he shouldn't play against B'Burn. B'Burn are ravaged by injuries so even if Nani plays 60 mins he could do serious amounts of damage in that space of time. Plus his goals are worth more than Van Persie's.

If Nani doesn't play then Sturridge certainly will and, again, could notch a goal or two against Villa and some baps.

Besides which, if you have RVP but didn't captain him you will have still played him so you'll get his points. you just won't get them doubled.

      We'll be fine, lads.

Any chance to see Evans in starting line-up.. 😀

I know he's injured but can't stop hoping to see him by questions and comments of people here.

Leaving him in is the right play - he's either going to start or be nowhere near the field.

My main mini-league rival has brought in BAE this week (and benched him!) - I was planning to bring him in today, but do you think I should bring in Walker instead? I can afford him for either Enrique or Jones.

    Cheers

Well done to all the guys who held their nerve and kept RVP as Capt. I can see a brace today from him minimum. Unfortunatly I chickened out and went with Rooney. Damn you Wenger!! 😉

I was confident he'd play him for his record attempt; would you risk to frustrate your best player and maybe lose him in summer? I wouldn't and I come from the same French region than Arsene, great minds 😉

Assuming all 3 play it's still so marginal between RVP / Rooney / Nani - and others...

Yup, Nani for me with Bale as back up. After last GW's disastrous returns couldn't afford to take the risk. 2 gials from VP will still be very welcome, captain or no captain.

    Would you do:
    a. Ba to Sturridge?
    b. Sinclair to Osman?
Was sold on a. which I almost did for a hit this week (and should have done) but I wonder now...

A is what I was looking to do (already binned Sinclair for Ethers).

May hold onto Ba for one more week - Wolves away is not a give-me, although Sturridge has done really well away from home (remember the Newcastle game when he should have amassed about 20 points!).

Looking at Enrique to BAE and possibly drafting in a cheap Everton defender for a 4 pointer.

Osman is one of the few likely to get something for Everton but, as I said last night, I don't see Everton scoring more than 1 goal during the entire dgw.

I don't see an Everton brace either and have Baines & Drenthe already, might keep Scotty, he's on pens after all... or might even play Moses 🙂

I'm holding for another week, unless Sturridge rips it up today and I will do an embarrassing knee-jerk. Grant Holt is on the radar - can't stop scoring at present. Hasn't he now stopped becoming a super sub?

    DGW dilemma

I currently have Bale and Ade and there is a great deal of chat about bringing in players for DGW. I have seen several posters noting bringing in in such as BAE Walker Drenthe Osman et all often with a 4 pt hit envolved. Now given the two teams are manay managers risking long term strategies for short term(likely neglible gains particularly in Evertons case). Is it worth shipping in all these players for one gw just for very small differences. I know there is a wc straight after but certainly in my case many players have built up significant values so transferring out for a week would be very costly thus weakening the team going forward. Just a thought and I dont have a moster rank(70k) although it is improving by the week.

May I kindly share other posters thoughts on the subject.

For my part I brought in Drenthe for Eagles and Walker for Richards, I've lost money on Richards if I want him back but City aren't keeping clean sheets much anyway. Drenthe may go for Dempsey soon and I'm happy keeping Walker for a while so it seemed to make sense.

I've brought in three Everton players in place of my fringe players - my core team, RvP, Bale, Nani etc will remain after the wildcard. Not worth hits now, managers should have planned for this if they wanted a full house.

I wouldn't take a points hit for any other DGW players in your case.

However, if you still have a free transfer and can afford it then get Drenthe or a Spuds def/GK. Those are guys you can still play after this GW.

I am looking at saving my transfer this GW as I planned well enough to get in all the DGW'ers I wanted to play before this GW so they are nicely bedded in my team.
