Welcome to a brand new year at Fantasy Football Scout. Hope you all have a happy one.

Now you’ve disposed of your empty cans and pizzas boxes into a black bag, you can settle into your lazyboy and spend the afternoon shouting at your TV screen. We have two games: West Brom entertain Everton and Sunderland welcome Man City to the Stadium of Light.

The teams are in for the opening game, with the main talking point, the omission of Royston Drenthe. It seems there’s not even a place for him on the bench, with Jack Rodwell returning to the Everton lineup.

WBA: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Dawson, Shorey; Thomas, Scharner, Morrison, Brunt; Long, Odemwingie.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Cahill, Saha.

    so how important does spurs defense look for the double. really tempted by vdv but not sure if i should get spurs defense instead

      I'm swaying towards BAE - more guaranteed to get 180 mins and decent chance of CS with those fixtures.

        true. but it just takes one mistake or owngoal or penalty to mess up that cs and vdv could score/assist a couple which could be better. plus I figure with vdv, ade and bale I should get pretty much any spurs attacking points (assists and goals). could see it going either way though.

        so stuck cuz I can either do ward to bae (or walker but thinking bae) or i can do nani and shelvey to vdv and osman (or donovan or drenthe but thinking osman) for a hit

        really tempted to do the second one but not sure if I should or not

    Drenthe out, means there will be plenty of people with the likes of Moses, Walters, Yakubu, or Sinclair coming off the bench! That annoys me considering my bench if I am honest!

      my cup oppenent has 7pts rodallega coming off the bench (he's a sleeper)
      how unlucky is that since this is the best score for rodallega this year
      he also has the likes of rvp captaion and nzog (assist) samba (assist)
      can get worse if clichy plays and gets CS

      If you look at Drenthe's ownership percentage, it won't be that many people...a massive 1.8% of players. Mostly people who were conned into the bandwagon.

    That OG in the Spurs match is still down as a VDV goal in FPL - think they must have hangovers! My VDV / BAE owning rival is going to be gutted come tomorrow I think!

        I looked at it closely, it could have been going over the bar or wide but that would be guessing. It's going to stay as a VDV goal.

          there's only one way you can be sure it's an OG and that's if your rival has BAE/VDV/both. the deflection was way too soon after the shot to tell with any confidence

      From what I saw, VDV smashed it straight down the middle, without the deflection it would have taken the keeper's head off.

    Was going to do Ramsey to Drenthe/ Osman for DGW but now considering just Nani to VDV. I have Bale and Ade. The only thing is i have had Nani for a total of 5 GWs this season and he has scored 10 pts in that time ie whenever i don't have him he seems to score loads!

    I know it's tedious but IF Sniejder is available for 25m, i.e 5m more than Henderson, that's a bargain. Also we wouldn't be so dependable on Rooney for creativity in the hole. Fergie, sign him up!

      The only time Drenthe got me good points was when he was in my team the last time he was injured... Ba came on third sub, Drenthe seems to be a good pick if you want people to come off the bench...
