Gameweek 21 proved to be a tough week all-round, as even our high-flying Paddy Power Cup V Quarter-Finalists had a trying time of it. Only three of the eight fantasy managers squeezed out a green arrow, and even their gains were slender. However, the real prize on offer was a prestigious Semi-Final place…

1Sc8tt265354Funkyav
2Declan4461Raasclart
3CSKA AWFUL3754sleepingmaster
4soulman274749ChickenDevil

The highest-ranked manager in the round, Sc8tt26, was defeated by the narrowest of margins – a single point – at the hands of Funkyav. He takes over that particular mantle heading into the Semi-Finals, sitting 1,292nd overall.

Top-score this week went to Raasclart, thanks to a Nathan Dyer-inspired score of 61. Leaving the competition at his expense is Declan, who slumped to a 17-point loss. Equalling that margin of victory is sleepingmaster who advances to the money stage after beating CSKA Awful.

Completing the final four line-up is ChickenDevil, having edged past soulman27 to be the only Fantasy manager progressing with a red arrow this week.

The all-important fixtures will be announced soon, but for now please join me in congratulating Funkyav, Raasclart, sleepingmaster and ChickenDevil for reaching the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V.

    Quick question fellow fantasy-ians..

Ade has been flagged so his price isn't going down?

Verma had been reg flagged. But his price went down. Is it something to do with Not availability vs Injury ?

No, a flag only changes the treshold for a price drop. When the flag is removed, he becomes 'protected' for a while.

The threshold must be changed by a hell of a lot. Ba had 360,000 NTs out and only dropped by 0.2! Equally Kompany has only dropped 0.1. I was hoping for much more of a drop from both players ðŸ™

Price can still go down - but needs more people transferring him out than if he wasn't flagged.

Since he's flagged, it looks like he's going down around 150% so he didn't go down last night but might any night. Beware - players prices don't appear to be frozen anymore after coming off a flag

Based on the sample I looked at I can't see protection anymore after the flag comes off after multiple days of flagging (which is when protection is meant to happen ). Examples including VDV, Evans, Jones, Hernandez. The FISO protection list is empty whenever I look nowadays, too

Looks to me like as soon as a player is no longer flagged then his NTI is reset - no protection period other than how long it takes to get the required NTI/NTO for a price change.

I thought he was going down so last night took the hit to change to Fletcher who was rising.

Wildcarding next week, so felt the 4points was worth plus the potential 0.2 (if Fletcher rises again) plus having an extra player for the weekend was more worthwhile.

I think I have owned Adebayor for 9 gameweeks this season and the best score I got was a 5.

Everyone else probably wants to look at bringing him in next week!

I'm not sure who to bench this week so any advice would be much appreciated. Currently have Bale benched but that's not a very comforting thought.
    WC Active too.

    Richards, Brown, Kelly

Thanks. Fletcher's the one I'm thinking too if I do play Bale. Do you really see Bale doing much though?
Spurs haven't been scoring many of late and are now without Ade. Though City are going to be playing Savic I guess.

bale will be up against Richards who more often or not will be in the tots half. So Bale should have a good chance of doing just enough to ruin your plans 😀

            Ha 🙂
Fair point, but I'd be tempted to counter that by saying the fact that I'm playing Richards leans towards benching Bale.
It's a gamble but I'm not convinced Bale will do anything.

It would be a very brave decision to bench such a gamechanger even in a tight game like this. He's definitly playing a more prominent role this year particulalrly in attack.

What's the worst that can happen? Fletcher gets his solitary goal for 6 pts? I think you can live with that. Good luck.

Considering a strategy of 4 expensive defenders that could give atacking returns, leaving the front three with an expensive player plus 2 cheapies(around 2x7M budget).

Would you consider this strategy(by now I need to try something different)?

earlier i admittedly looked up the spelling for circumcision via google (to maintain accuracy in my attempt at humour)
then a second ago i went to type "fantasy premier league" in the search box.

i had not erased what was previously there, for a moment i had googled "circumcision fantasy". immediately upon seeing this, a co-worker comes up and asks me if im in the middle of something.

i know a good joke, although it might offend some, but anyway here goes-
at the end of a long and messy divorce, the issue came to the possession of the child, the mother screaming and crying demanded that the child be given to her, the judge then looks at the father and asks if he has anything to say, the man calmly responds, "judge if you put a dollar into a vending machine and a coke comes out, is the coke yours or the vending machines" Made me laugh! 😀

So regarding price rises/drops, from what I'm getting is, if a player is flagged he needs 150-200% NTOs to drop.

Once his flag is removed, there's no longer any 'protection' his NTI/NTO is simply reset... so he could be on 140% NTO; flag is removed... it's now 0%.

Morning lads, I see a fruitful fantasy discussion around here so I will post my WC. Decided to go without Lindegaard this time and reassess GW 28. Expensive in defense and probably 3 5 2. Hoping for some constructive feedback.
    ____________________________________________
    Hart Vorm
Huth, Senderos, Simpson, G.Johhson, Lescott (money for Komp when he comes back)
Silva, Bale, Sess, Demps, Walters - preety obvious
    RVP, Sturridge, Fletch.
    ____________________________________________

I see value in budger forwards and I will get the Kun points in my defense for a lot less money. Also Ba will partner RVP when he comes back if he looks sharp.

Looking at the same myself (not this week though) but I believe is a strategy that can pay off, and by now we have the knowledge to know the best budget forwards.

What´s your rotation plan for your front 8?

      Most are good.
      - Why Johnson at a hefty 6.8m though? You can pick Enrique/Sktrtel for a lot less.
      - Lescott: If it is for a short-term then Richards is better since he's more attacking.
      - Sturridge: There are rumours of him being out of favour. Until this is clear, I wouldn't pick him.

I like the look of that defense. But I'd have Kompany on the bench this GW itself as you have enough cover for the week.

      I'd consider Huth > Shotton, Hart > Schwarzer & Sess > Nani/Valencia or Fletcher > Kun.

Love the Glen Johnson punt, he was playing so far advanced almost like a second striker.

I bought Vorm for 4.0 so it is not that expensive. Surely cheaper than Lindegaard and Hart. Also I am very fond on my defenders so the only problematic position was the goalkeeper and I went with Hart. In the next 8, 6 CS anybody?

People still keeping Ryan shotton? Not convinced he's nailed on especially since he missed the last game.

Quite liking the Krul / Lindegaard rotation at the moment... can't work out if I'd rather have Mignolet and Evans or Lindegaard & McAuley + £0.3m

dont be silly, you merely bumped your head on the edge of the sink which gave you the inspiration to invent the flux capacitor.
