After a frenetic Deadline Day Tuesday that saw an abundance of big-name moves, such as Nikica Jelavic to Everton (massive), the Dugout Discussion returns to complete Gameweek 23. We’ve got five more Premier League fixtures to pour over tonight, but with most of the big-hitters on show yesterday, fantasy points may be a little thin on the ground.

We start at Villa Park with a slightly earlier kick-off, where Alex McCleish’s side play host Mark Hughes’ Queens Park Rangers. The other four games get under way on the hour, including the televised game at the Stadium of Light between Sunderland and Norwich City (definitely worth watching ahead of Valencia Vs. Barcelona).

There’s also Blackburn Rovers versus Newcastle United, Arsenal travel to the Reebok Stadium to face Bolton Wanderers, and a Bobby Zamora-less Fulham welcome the visit of Roy Hodgson’s West Bromich Albion.

    I know Everton have both underwhelmed and frustrated us this season but is their side all of a sudden looking like they could have a great second half to the season.

    Howard is a great PL keeper.
    Baines is a top quality full back with goal/assist potential.
    Hibbert/Neville/Heitinga are solid/steady players.
    Fellaini is in great form just now and the addition of Gibson is potentially a great pairing in the middle.
    Drenthe. We all love that guy whether we admit it or not. If he stays in the side he will do good things.
    Donovan lighting quick, hard working assist machine in the mould of Valencia.
    Steven Pienaar. The return of the fans favourite and their most creative player in a long time.
    Cahill finally got a goal to end the drought and playing behind the striker could work out nicely.
    Jelavic is goals and could be just what everton need.

    I had no interest in Everton this season until last night and I reckon we will we a different side from now until May. That looks a strong PL outfit.

      Even as a Red, I agree - Solid at the back, Pienaar will slot in very quickly to midfield to get hold of he ball. If Jelavic is up to PL standard (my single reservation) he should be getting goals off decent service from Baines. Cahill is not a man to lead an attack, but WAS prolific a few seasons ago playing off a loan striker.

      Worth a punt.

    PENALTY SAVES GRIPE

    One of my two keepers has saved a penalty in 5 out of 23 gameweeks, including two consecutively this gameweek and last. Every single time they have been on my bench:

    GW2 - Given(BLA) gets 2pts. My sub Ruddy(STO) saves a peno and bags 7pts.
    GW13 - Vorm(AVL) gets 6pts. My sub Foster(tot) saves a peno and bags 8pts.
    GW15 - Foster(WIG) gets 1pt. My sub Vorm(FUL) saves a peno and bags 12pts.
    GW20 - Vorm(sun) gets 1pt. Foster(sto) saves a peno and bags 7pts.
    GW23 - Mignolet(NOR) is on 1 pt. My sub Krul(bla) saves a peno and is currently on 6pts.

    This is getting God damn F8cking Ridiculous!!!!!!!

    in my opinion, if youre looking for a constant performing midfield, then its not dempsey. unless if youre looking for someone to invest in for the rest of the season then yes dempsey it is. cause when he scores, he'll usually gets a hatrick but when hes not, he'll just stay in your first 11 providing you 2 points.

    I guess missing out on penalty saves is the price you pay for playing home keepers. Painful when it happens but probably still the best strategy long term.

      It says it updates automatically, but the refresh rate won't be as high as what you achieve by frequently pressing F5. It was updated almost as soon as I saw the goal on Sky when I refreshed.
