Wigan’s Victor Moses has dragged himself back into our consideration with a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon. The pacy winger was heavily backed by many Fantasy managers after netting five times for the Latics in pre-season, and, priced at just 5.0 at the start of the campaign, had looked a real proposition as a cut-price midfield alternative.

Sadly, by Gameweek 12 Moses had achieved a paltry 25 points as his play, while at times eye-catching, failed to deliver tangible returns. Fantasy managers began to question whether his parents had named him after the right Old Testament figure. Perhaps Noah, it was being muttered, would be more appropriate for a player who brings in the points two by two. Moses’ price resultantly dropped down to 4.7, with more than 60,000 Fantasy managers looking for better alternatives

Gameweek 13 saw an upturn in fortunes, with the winger notching an assist and bonus recognition at Sunderland, his first meaningful points of the season. In Gameweek 15 he went one better and emerged as a genuine Fantasy prospect when he scored, assisted and notched maximum bonus. More joy for Moses’s owners came in Gameweek 19 when he scored against Stoke and earned his fifth bonus point of the season. Just this week he added another assist, in Wigan’s tricky away fixture against Tottenham.

Over the last 11 Gameweeks, Moses, who also takes corner kicks, has accrued a healthy 45 points to bring his total to 70, second behind Swansea’s Nathan Dyer in the sub 5.0 midfielder category. He is also among the top ten midfielders in terms of goal attempts, quite an achievement considering his price.

With many Fantasy managers looking for a way to shoehorn in Robin Van Persie, Sergio Aguero and Demba Ba over the next few weeks, a cut-price midfielder may be the best route to explore. While Dyer, and the likes of James McClean offer alternatives, Moses’ schedule looks the most enticing. As our recent Watchlist article on Hugo Rodallega showed, Wigan, along with QPR, have arguably one of the best run of fixtures out of any Premier League side in the medium term (EVE, bol, AVL, SWA, nor, WBA).

Moses also has the strong backing of his manager, Roberto Martinez, who, during the winter transfer window, moved to ward off potential suitors saying:

“He is not for sale. Victor is one of the biggest assets at the football club – young with fantastic potential.”

Starts are also assured, with Moses missing just 71 minutes of Premier League action this season and playing the full 90 minutes on all but three occasions. With renewed confidence, his pre-season eye for goal restored and a sparkling set of fixtures over the coming week, many Fantasy managers may once again find themselves coveting thy neighbours’ Moses.

    Krul
    Simpson, Enrique, Huth
    Ox, Sess, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia
    RVP, Aguero

    Mignolet, Sturridge, Evans, Kelly

2 FT, 0.0 in the bank.

Sturridge to Ba and bench Dempsey? Should I also do Evans -> Taiwo and bench Enrique?

Don't like walters. He's back in midfield now and only ever score with pens really. I'd go sess instead. You can play same midfield/attack each week and have mcclean first sub, although I'd prob play both s'land this week

Its not madness to play him, which attacker are you benching?

Its worth bearing in mind that City's home defence is the best in the league (Conceded 5 in 11), and Fulham's goalscoring away from home is non-existent (Scored 7 in 11).

I'm doubling on man city, benching demps, and doubling on sunderland. Man city will want a big result at home after the embarressment at everton. And they have the best home def in the prem. Also stoke have looked really week, and have conceded at home to West brom, so it shouldn't be tough for sunderland to break through, they are on great form.

FPL didn't update properly today, player values didn't update properly and neither did round price changes and transfers in and out I believe. Since CTC and TOTALFPL use this data they failed to update. Is TotalFPL updated yet?

CHELSEA v UNITED - UNITED ATTACKING POTENTIAL

Terry and Cole are out so Chelsea's defence has the following possibilities. (LEFT TO RIGHT)

    Bosingwa Luiz Cahill Ivanovic

    Luiz Cahill Ivanovic Bosingwa

    Ferreira Luiz Ivanovic Bosingwa

Either LB option looks pretty tasty for Valencia to attack, plus two of the three possibilities have new boy Cahill coming into a completely untried CB partnership.

The other thing is Rooney is fit. Seems to me (United fans, whatcha think?) that Rooney and Welbeck are the preferred strike partnership against big teams. Look at Welbeck's start record and it includes disproportionately many many big teams this year. Welbeck plays furthest forward, Rooney behind him in the hole. Of late it's been him getting the goals, not Rooney.

I'm thinking with the form he's in, his chances of starting this match, the weakness of the opposing defence and his advanced role, Welbeck is a good punt this week.

I don't think Chelsea will be THAT terrible at the back, but then again its impossible to predict what might happen with Bosingwa and Luiz in a back 4 with Cahill making his debut. I agree with your reasoning though, and I'd go for Welbeck, he's a great prospect if he stays free from rotation in my opinion.

AVB already stated it's between Bosingwa and Bertrand for the LB spot.

Assuming that Ivanovic and Luiz wont be dropped, then it's probably either those 4: Bosingwa/Luiz/Ivanovic/Bertrand

or if AVB decide Gary Cahill is ready for debut, then Ivanovic/Luiz/Cahill/Bosingwa is the most likely alternative

If Cahill is deemed unfit/untrustworthy/confused by the change in tactics/environment, then we might see Ferreira.

I'd bench Walters actually. Sessegnon is on form and if Sunderland score, he'll be involved.

I haven't had Walters all season because of his seeming reliance on penalties to score goals. I keep telling myself that Stoke can't keep getting penalties at seemingly every home game.

This is my reasoning anyway, I have none of these players personally

Bench Morison(BOL). Whatever you do don't bench Sess. His form is too hot.

Stoke are finding it very hard to keep cleansheets lately due to their European adventures. I'd happily play Sessegnon. Just thought I'd put that out there.

    Any tips would be helpful:

    Krul
    Enrique - Clichy - Raylor
    McClean - Bale - Silva - Dempsey
    Fletcher - RVP - Aguero

Subs: Mignolet - Walters - Simpson - Kelly

    0.4m and 2FT

I have to move either Raylor or Krul out to get Ba in. Or Simpson but would have to take a hit to make the funds or wait another week. Also I could be moving Enrique out soon, but would be losing 0.5m

Guys, what do you reckon the prem league team of the season is so far (non-fantasy wise)

    Thinking:

    Hart Vorm/Krul

    Richards Komp Colocini Enrique/BAE

    Silva, Modric, Mata, Bale,

    RVP, Ba

    A) Sess & Walters > Valencia & McClean
    B) Walters & Fletcher > Siggy & Ba/Zamora
    C) Neither

I have two freebies but only 0.1 in the bank so can't really do much with just one as I can't afford better versions of my fringe players like Fletcher & Kelly

Between him and Joey B. Originally I had them both first choice and Bale benched, but then a kindly soul pointed out I was being a jackass, and if Bale did anything Id be up the swanny.

In your front 8 you have to bring in a benchable player with a not so good fixture this week but fantastic fixtures on the horizon. It's a WC rule.

Last week it was Moses for me. This week... Dempsey?
