Wigan’s Victor Moses has dragged himself back into our consideration with a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon. The pacy winger was heavily backed by many Fantasy managers after netting five times for the Latics in pre-season, and, priced at just 5.0 at the start of the campaign, had looked a real proposition as a cut-price midfield alternative.

Sadly, by Gameweek 12 Moses had achieved a paltry 25 points as his play, while at times eye-catching, failed to deliver tangible returns. Fantasy managers began to question whether his parents had named him after the right Old Testament figure. Perhaps Noah, it was being muttered, would be more appropriate for a player who brings in the points two by two. Moses’ price resultantly dropped down to 4.7, with more than 60,000 Fantasy managers looking for better alternatives

Gameweek 13 saw an upturn in fortunes, with the winger notching an assist and bonus recognition at Sunderland, his first meaningful points of the season. In Gameweek 15 he went one better and emerged as a genuine Fantasy prospect when he scored, assisted and notched maximum bonus. More joy for Moses’s owners came in Gameweek 19 when he scored against Stoke and earned his fifth bonus point of the season. Just this week he added another assist, in Wigan’s tricky away fixture against Tottenham.

Over the last 11 Gameweeks, Moses, who also takes corner kicks, has accrued a healthy 45 points to bring his total to 70, second behind Swansea’s Nathan Dyer in the sub 5.0 midfielder category. He is also among the top ten midfielders in terms of goal attempts, quite an achievement considering his price.

With many Fantasy managers looking for a way to shoehorn in Robin Van Persie, Sergio Aguero and Demba Ba over the next few weeks, a cut-price midfielder may be the best route to explore. While Dyer, and the likes of James McClean offer alternatives, Moses’ schedule looks the most enticing. As our recent Watchlist article on Hugo Rodallega showed, Wigan, along with QPR, have arguably one of the best run of fixtures out of any Premier League side in the medium term (EVE, bol, AVL, SWA, nor, WBA).

Moses also has the strong backing of his manager, Roberto Martinez, who, during the winter transfer window, moved to ward off potential suitors saying:

“He is not for sale. Victor is one of the biggest assets at the football club – young with fantastic potential.”

Starts are also assured, with Moses missing just 71 minutes of Premier League action this season and playing the full 90 minutes on all but three occasions. With renewed confidence, his pre-season eye for goal restored and a sparkling set of fixtures over the coming week, many Fantasy managers may once again find themselves coveting thy neighbours’ Moses.

I don't know how many times I have brought players in due to 'favourable fixtures' only for them to fall flat on their face, favourable fixtures are only favourable when you have a decent team to take advantage of them, I am totally unconvinced that Moses trumps the likes of McLean or Dyer.

    Just me!

Not too long ago Dyer was a dud. I had this guy for a long time. Sold him and then he went nuts with consecutive double figure scores. These low price midfielders are funny. Mclean looks quite consistent though.

      Eliminate everyone in bad form.

      Rank the rest by fixtures.

      Good point.

I always muck up my defence by ditching top 4 team players with bad fixtures for the likes of Huth and Baines. I'm a sucker for the fixtures and often disregard the team.

Hence why I think Moses will rule this week 😆

My steady climb to the top 250 took a stumble midweek and now I'm panicking about not having Ba. Is a 4 point hit daft to swap Cahill, Walters and Graham to a 4millionish defender, McClean and Ba?

My other bright idea was aguero and graham to Zamora and Ba then invest a few million in defence. I've had Aguero for about 6 gws in two spells and he's done nothing for me but his fixtures are super the next few weeks.

    Any thoughts?

Walters will be going soon to free up cash for Ba as there's no point having 8 forwards to play every week. It's just a matter of when. If stoke were away he'd be gone but I'm not sure.

i'd leave it, ba might play tomorrow but it's anything but certain, he might not be performing that well after the cup and if cisse plays that might also change the dynamic. All in all I'd say this is a perfect week to not have ba and instead just observe what he does, make one half of the transfers this week and complete it next week once you know a bit more about the ba situation

If it is for 4 weeks triple up on a few defences. Get some big differentials and then you can change it easily for the last 10 GW's. I wouldn't recommed dropping Bale, he scored at the Etihad!

How much will you have to sell him for? Honestly think he's capable of getting points against anyone on current form and don't see many great alternatives in that price range so I wouldn't, especially if you lose value on him

I wouldnt. I dropped him and Valencia 2 weeks ago when I wildcarded and my points have plummeted. I've brought him back in again this week.

I know the fixtures arent good, but I reckon he can produce whatever the opposition. (Watch him do nothing now 🙂 )

    Krul, Mignolet
    Kompany, Evans, Simpson, Taiwo, Caulker
    ???, ???, Bale, Silva, ???
    Aguero, Ba, RvP

19.5 to spend and i'd ideally like to upgrade maybe Caulker to Huth aswell. Please off some advice.

I would want him for GW26 for sure. So I am just getting him in now, may as well. Makes life easier later incase an other injuries or bandwagons turn up.

If you on WC and want him long term - just get him now.

I would be really pissed if there are no price updates today as well. I am on wildcard and could have easily made 0.2. I hope they will update tonight.

There were price updates, they're just not appearing on Total FPL or Fiso.

Yep. BAE for example is now 5.9, but if you click on his profile, he's 5.8.

He did rise last night though.

with walters shifted back to midfield I think he is now not as good as prospect as once was.

Also is it worth taking out fletcher for cisse/zamora?

Walters was never that useful in open play when he was OOP... nearly all of his points came from home pens... the real concern would be whether he is still going to take them after his last miss...

I shipped Walters out for this WC. Came to the end of the road with him, even with nice fixtures.

He's just not a great player unless he's awarded a penalty - which is wrong to rely on IMO

Sticking Ox in my starting midfield line-up ahead of Dempsey.... inspired differential? or massive punt?

    the others are Silva/Bale/Sess
    upfront - RVP/Dzeko/Ba

A cruel reminder from memory lane....

    "..

Shortly after Arsenal called their game off with Stoke. "Further to a huge deluge of snow in north London starting over Emirates Stadium at 11.38am, the match referee Lee Mason made the decision at 12.07pm to postpone today's match," said a club spokesman.

"Approximately three inches of snow fell over this half hour period and there continues to be heavy snowfall with no apparent let-up.

Need a striker priced up to 7.5m(excluding Ba and Sturridge), any suggestions? I was thinking out of Cisse, Zamora, Welbeck, Bellamy, Cisse, Jelavic, Keane.

Ok, need to get rid of Walters. I have 10.7 for a Midfielder and Defender. I'd really appreciate any advice, cannot find a good combo.

    Rest of def/mid:
    Mignolet Schwarzer
    Taiwo Kompany Raylor X Caulker
    Dempsey Silva Bale X McClean
