Stephane Sessegnon limps off towards the end of Sunderland’s FA Cup win against Middlesboro. Vincent Kompany returns to full training for Man City. Matt Etherington is available for Stoke’s trip to Fulham, Frank Lampard is training ahead of the trip to Everton, while Villa fail in a bid to extend Robbie Keane’s loan deal:

Martin O’Neill is sweating on the fitness of Stephane Sessegnon after the midfielder was subbed off towards the end of last night’s FA Cup win over Middlesboro. The Benin international netted the winner deep into injury time but then limped out of the proceedings at the Riverside Stadium. It may very well be innocuous- O’Neill admitted post-match it was too early to offer a prognosis, going on to say:

He is an outstanding player and I am delighted that we have him. He hasn’t missed a game – I hadn’t realised he hasn’t missed a game this season for us, which is outstanding. I hope it is just cramp rather than anything else.

Vincent Kompany returned to full training for Man City yesterday. The Belgian missed out on Saturday’s win over Fulham with a knee problem picked up in training but now appears to have overcome the issue ahead of City’s trip to Villa this weekend.

Matt Etherington looks set to return for Stoke’s trip to Fulham on Saturday. The winger has missed the last couple of games with a flu bug, with Jon Walters filling in on the left in his absence, but revealed yesterday he has now fully recovered. His return will be a vital boost for Tony Pulis, with the Potters losing both games and failing to score in Etherington’s absence.

Michael Kightly will miss this weekend’s derby with West Brom due to a back problem. The Wolves winger had started all three league games since returning from a loan spell at Watford but was forced off with the problem in the gameweek 23 home loss to Liverpool and has failed to feature since. Kightly is expected to recover in time for the club’s next game, a trip to Newcastle towards the end of the month.

Frank Lampard is winning his fitness battle ahead of Saturday’s trip to Everton. The Chelsea midfielder has skipped the last couple of league matches due to a calf problem but reports yesterday suggest he is expected to be fit and available for the Goodison clash.

Reports suggest the rift between Chris Samba and Steve Kean has worsened over the last few days. The Rovers skipper has been fit and available for selection but Kean has chosen not to play him after his failed January transfer request. Samba sat out his side’s 7-1 hammering at Arsenal and was expected to return to action in a reserve fixture but, having missed the match, he is, once again, not training with the first-team.

Aston Villa have failed in a bid to extend Robbie Keane’s loan spell at the club. The Irishman has been in eye-catching form since his return to the Premier League, grabbing 3 goals in four appearances for the midlanders and Alex McLeish had hoped he could persuade LA Galaxy to allow him to field Keane in the gameweek 27 trip to Blackburn. The MLS side have refused, meaning Keane’s last game for Villa will be the gameweek 26 away clash at Wigan on the 25th February.

Owen Coyle has revealed he is considering shaking things up ahead of Bolton’s home game with Wigan. The Trotters boss admitted new boys Tim Ream, Marvin Sordell and Ryo Miyaichi are all in contention for game time, with the latter particularly impressing in midweek, scoring the only goal in a behind-closed-doors game with Preston.

Little bit of help please – my team is as follows:

    Mig/ Vorm Caulker/ Shawx/ Enrique/ Santon/ Kompany Dyer/ Bale/ Sess/ Silva/ Valencia Ba/ VP/ Aguero

I will be upgrading Dyer to Sigurdsson (set pieces etc) & i will be selling Enrique (I think i need to tonight or his price is going to fall) but who for??I will have 5.4 – JEvans? Cahill? Taiwo? Bardsley? Anyone else?

I think Bardsley could be a good shout and an effective differential. Cahill is yet to be guaranteed a start for Chelsea. Evans is alright, Taiwo I feel is a bit over-rated on these pages.

      So I'd go for Bardsley!

none of them have siggy yet so was thinking valencia > siggy and have enough in bank to do

    Squad is currently:

    Given, Vorm
    Cahill, Simpson, Richards, BAE, Kelly
    Dempsey, Moses, Sess, Bale, Silva
    RVP, Aguero, Keane

Got 2 free transfers, Which option is better:

    A) Dempsey+Keane > Ox+Ba

    B) Moses+Keane > Ox+Graham

    Got 1m in the bank

    Afternoon all,

    Vorm (Ruddy)
    Evans, Cahill, Richards (Kelly, Simpson)
    Silva, Sess, Demps(c), Bale (Dyer)
    Aguero, BA, RVP

Look ok, I know Kelly and Dyer have nice home fixtures but i fancy United to keep a cleanie agaisnt Liverpool and I also fancy Sunderland to beat Arsenal on current form, with Sess at the heart of it.

I could drop SIlva, as I have City coverage in Richards and Aguero.

    Thoughts? Subs ok?

looking ahead to gw28 and man utd's great run there could be a few dilemmas
firstly in defence: ferdinand, evans, smalling, jones, rafael into 3 spots, arguably only 2 should ferdinand be fit.
that makes you think jones could be a midifelder, then however you have a returning cleverley to factor in.
on the wings it looks like valencia, young and nani into 2 spots. valencia and nani probably favourites there but still, a player will be lurking ominously in any outcome.
up front you've got welbeck and hernandez battling for a spot alongside rooney.
in goal lindegaard looked to have edged ahead but it could still turn in just one poor match.
all in all things like this could push the likes of evra and rooney forward. expensive yes, but you can buy and relax every time the team sheets are on their way out

Yeah you are paying for the certainty of starts. I'd really have to think twice about Rooney again, had him from the start until I wildcarded before GW24, and the fecker cost me so many points and places over the Christmas period with his poor performances and (most annoyingly) a no show.

That said it is in my mind to swap Aguero for him, unless I feel very cheeky then I might go for RVP and the double Demba duo

My two cents worth: I think SAF has realized Rio & Smalling are too similar in defensive traits to be started together. Unlikely that Jones will start at CB after the Newcastle debacle. Rafael can play as a wingback, so can Valencia at RB.

      I'd think:
      LindeGas (De Gea)
Jones (Smalling/Rafael/Valencia) Evans Rio (Smalling) Evra (Fabio)
Nani (Valencia) Carrick Scholes (Jones) Young (Giggs/Park)
      Rooney (Berb) Chico (Welb)

Think our team when everyone fit is:

      Lindy
Smalling(Rafael) Jones(Evans) Ferdinand Evra (move Jones to RB when Vidic is fit)
      Nani(Valencia) Carrick/(Anderson) Cleverley Young(Nani)
      Rooney Welbeck/(Chico)

This is Fergie's favoured line-up imo.

i dont think so. I think Sunderland will beat Arsenal this week. they are a side in great form, with a clever manager and I fancy Sess to be at the heart of things, im keeping & starting him

If you havent already seen it (its been out for ages now) Battle Royale is great entertainment. My personal favourite film The Man Who Would Be King is an epic buddy movie. I love the old film noir stuff too so have a look at that if you're unfamiliar with the genre.
More recent, hmmmm, cant really recommend much that Ive seen in the last year or two. I did enjoy True Grit.

The Guard - Irish cop/buddy movie with Brnadan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, very funny. Empire gave it 5 starts out of 5.

Warrior - based on cage fighting, but don't let that put you off, decent film.

Great shout about Cell 211. My mate review this movie for a website. Need to download that.

Heard good things about Warrior. When I saw the trailer I thought it was Never Back Down meets The Wrestler with some corny US Marine undertones but I will give it a go.

          The Three Wise Men:

A cold coming we had of it,
Just the worst time of the year
For a journey, and such a long journey:
The ways deep and the weather sharp,
          The very dead of winter.
And the camels galled, sore-footed, refractory,
Lying down in the melting snow.
There were times when we regretted
The summer palaces on slopes, the terraces,
And the silken girls bringing sherbet.
Then the camel men cursing and grumbling
And running away, and wanting their liquor and women,
And the night-fires going out, and the lack of shelters,
And the cities dirty and the towns unfriendly
And the villages dirty and charging high prices:
A hard time we had of it.
At the end we preferred to travel all night,
          Sleeping in snatches,
With the voices singing in our ears, saying
          That this was all folly.

Then at dawn we came down to a temperate valley,
          Wet, below the snow line, smelling of vegetation;
With a running stream and a water mill beating the darkness,
And three trees on the low sky,
And an old white horse galloped away in the meadow.
Then we came to a tavern with vine-leaves over the lintel,
Six hands at an open door dicing for pieces of silver,
And feet kicking the empty wineskins.
But there was no information, and so we continued
And arrived at evening, not a moment too soon
Finding the place; it was (you may say) satisfactory.

All this was a long time ago, I remember,
And I would do it again, but set down
          This set down
This: were we led all that way for
Birth or Death? There was a Birth, certainly,
We had evidence and no doubt. I had seen birth and death,
But had thought they were different; this Birth was
Hard and bitter agony for us, like Death, our death.
We returned to our places, these Kingdoms,
But no longer at ease here, in the old dispensation,
With an alien people clutching their gods.
I should be glad of another death.

Who would be your choice for defence rotation -

    A. Rangel (already have Vorm)
    B. Taiwo
    C. ShawX
    D. Cahill
    E. Other

Defence so far - Richards, Raylor, Huth, Senderos, Evans

Far prefer being 2nd in my mini-league, slowly winding in the leader, which I've done over the past 5 GWs. Now I'm top, the pressure is pish..........Rather pip it in the last few weeks.

So I guess it's worth me doing Tony V > Siggy this week, then Dzeko > Aguero next week for his tasty fixtures?

Anyone going for Siggy (C) ahead of the likes of RVP, Bale and Dempsey??? I have all of them and currently have the armband on siggy... none of the 3 guys i'm chasing in my league have siggy, so i thought it could be a massive hit or flop... thoughts??

having him is enough then. imo your squad is a place for punts/differentials, your captaincy is a place for bankers

Applebonkers: I think Jones will be a certain starter once fit as well as Evra and Rooney... At least his price is not excessive?

i'm tempted to get jones soon as i reckon he'll play alongside carrick. problem is cleverley which someone alerted me to, also giggs in away games. i'm not sure, as for defence i'm not sure jones has done enough to merit a place over smalling at rb, or evans at cb. who knows.

yeah I guess you're right... too many questions IF the squad is fit... Tottenham from gw 31 great as well, but which 3 players? I'm actually very tempted to get Friedel!

somebody mentioned the united spurs rotation policy a couple of days back... i guess i can take a gamble Jones and in case he does not feature maybe have a spurs defender coming on.. that clearly wont be the worst scenario

seeing a lot of Ziggy love being thrown around what with his form and set-pieces duty.

The Ox > Ziggy for a week?

could even do Tony V > Ziggy but i'd want him back in GW28.
