With yesterday’s results overshadowed by the now infamous non-handshake at Old Trafford, the Dugout Discussion opens today for what will hopefully be a controversy-free day of football. Having been displaced at the summit of the Premier League, Manchester City travel to Aston Villa where a draw will see them climb back to the top. Before that we have a Black Country derby to enjoy, as Wolves aim to drag their rivals West Brom in to the relegation scrap, and the Baggies try to increase their breathing space from it. Wolves XI: Hennessey, Foley, Johnson, Bassong, Ward, Doyle, Edwards, O’Hara, Jarvis, Ebanks-Blake, Fletcher.

West Brom XI: Foster, Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Odemwingie, Morrison, Scharner, Mulumbu, Thomas, Fortune.

Mick McCarthy names an attacking side which features a trio of strikers in Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Doyle and Steven Fletcher. For the visitor’s, Liam Ridgewell makes his debut for West Brom at the expense of Nicky Shorey, and Paul Scharner starts ahead of Graeme Dorrans.

    So it looks like that there is only one fantasy rule: More people sell a lad and lose faith in him, more chance for him to produce. Fletcher and Ade being the most recent case.

          Then you have answered your own question no?

          Technically you're right but there always seems to be a defender/player with height advantage that imposes himself more than others like Kompany, Vermaelen, Vidic, Hangelaand, Skrtel. And i'm saying Richards doesn't look that likely to get on the end of corners from what i'm seeing when City play.

    What are you guys thinking about Graham, Fletcher & Yak?

    Is it daft to not have 1 of them despite having RVP/Rooney/Aguero/Ba? They all seem too good value to pass up.

      Yak and Graham are good FPL strikers, so could be worth having instead of Ba IMO.

      You can have a midfield and defence equal to mine with 2 of those players. Worked out well for me so far. Wish I had remembered the Yak was coming back last week when I got Zamora in instead.

    My wife is thinking of experimenting with her team next year. Well, actually the opposite of experimenting. You know the really generic teams that get posted on here, and get shouted down because the picks are pretty much the same as loads of other teams (generally the highest scoring players). She's thinking of going with the most generic team as possible. Maybe even putting transfers and team selection to a vote on here. Surely using this method, you should be able to win most of your mini leagues, just not break into the upper echelons of the world. Where do people estimate a team using this method would be ranked around about now? Of course I wouldn't be able to use this method for my own team, as I like a punt too much!

        Sorry, I should have said "within reason". The plan would be to start off with the most generic team possible, based on hte millions of pre season RMTs. then just use free transfers. So it would be the most generic team based on a number of game weeks, not changing it every week to the team with the most point scoring potential.

      As you said, that's what people are pretty much doing anyway and then talk of differentials to make up ground.

      I guess if you're going to do what the average player does that's the player you will be. With the score to match.

          it keeps happening later in the season because, you've got more quality players than before, but I think I did everything right. It's just a sign you have a better team with bench also getting some points
