With yesterday’s results overshadowed by the now infamous non-handshake at Old Trafford, the Dugout Discussion opens today for what will hopefully be a controversy-free day of football. Having been displaced at the summit of the Premier League, Manchester City travel to Aston Villa where a draw will see them climb back to the top. Before that we have a Black Country derby to enjoy, as Wolves aim to drag their rivals West Brom in to the relegation scrap, and the Baggies try to increase their breathing space from it. Wolves XI: Hennessey, Foley, Johnson, Bassong, Ward, Doyle, Edwards, O’Hara, Jarvis, Ebanks-Blake, Fletcher.

West Brom XI: Foster, Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Odemwingie, Morrison, Scharner, Mulumbu, Thomas, Fortune.

Mick McCarthy names an attacking side which features a trio of strikers in Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Doyle and Steven Fletcher. For the visitor’s, Liam Ridgewell makes his debut for West Brom at the expense of Nicky Shorey, and Paul Scharner starts ahead of Graeme Dorrans.

    Ok. Lets just go through this once again.

    Nailed on City starters:
    Hart, Kompany, Toure, Silva, Aguero

    The rest are rotated on a more or less regular basis.

      Richards has only been rotated twice when not injured.

        He's rarely rested, as are Aguero and Silva, but they're not 100%ers.

        I was about to add that as an IF, but then I remembered that Tevez was played as the top striker. So he is only a threat for Dzeko and Balotelli imo. But it remains to be seen

          In defence of AVB, you've got to play your young players if you want them to progress. Same with Welbeck, Jones etc..

      I think he bought Cahill as a back up/replacement for Terry. He wants to play with a CD who can play the ball out from the back (not the best tactic in this league though) which neither Terry or Cahill are particularly good at.

    I've just noticed that the guy at the top of my mini league has 0 man city players!!! He does have Stephen Ward, and Stilian Petrov. I keep thinking that I should be able to overhaul his lead, as he seems to be quite a casual player, but he keeps extending his lead, which is now at 95 points!! I'm starting to think that i might have got it wrong and he is some sort of a genius. Or I am actually really bad at this game! I need big things from silva and aguero or I will be looking at a 100+ deficit after baps!

        Best was only ever in to fill the gap till Ba came back. However, due to price changes, i'm gonna have to go for Dave instead. My defense was based on extensive rotation analysis for the january wild card. That hasn't exactly worked out. Will be working Evans, Enrique and BAE/Walker in there between GW28-31. Thanks for the advice though. Any more where that came from?

    Extremely frustrating weekend!

    26pts after Saturday... Rooney played quite well (by his standard that is) but still not convinced if I should bring him in ahead of Aguero now...

    2 expensive players... both have been really frustrating to work with!!!

    Valencia still a class act - happy with my decision to give him another watch and played him
