Roberto Mancini admits Carlos Tevez will be considered for selection once again. Juan Mata is fit for Chelsea’s game with Bolton. Martin Jol receives an injury boost ahead of the derby with QPR, Tony Pulis leaves behind some key players for Stoke’s trip to Valencia, while Emmanuel Adebayor offers further indication he is ready to return against Arsenal:

Roberto Mancini confirmed for the first time yesterday that Carlos Tevez has every chance of playing for Man City again. Speaking after City’s Europa League thrashing of Porto, the Italian –on the back of Tevez’s recent public apology- has admitted he has no qualms over fielding the Argentine during the remainder of the season, once Tevez is back to full fitness. Mancini’s words will concern Fantasy owners of the likes of Sergio Aguero in particular; with Tevez back in the frame, the City frontline could be nigh-on impossible to predict and with Tevez the only forward unavailable for European duties, his chances of game time in the league look favourable:

I accept his apology, I don’t have any problem. Tomorrow I will meet him before training and after that he can begin to work with us. He needs maybe two or three weeks to find a good form and after that he will be OK. He can play. Like the other players. I think that it will be good if he can help us to do a good job in the next two months. Carlos can’t play in the Europa League but we can have four strikers in the Premier League and that is very good. If we get through in Europe I think it will be important to have four strikers.

Andre Villas-Boas confirmed this afternoon that Juan Mata is fit for the weekend clash with Bolton. The Spaniard broke a finger in the midweek defeat at Napoli but is available for the Stamford Bridge showdown. Jose Bosingwa is out with a muscle injury, though, meaning Gary Cahill is likely to continue in the centre of the back-four, with Branislav Ivanovic filling in at right-back. Fernando Torres missed training today with an illness but is expected back tomorrow, while the Chelsea boss went on to reveal John Terry is out for 5-6 weeks, though hopes his skipper may return sooner.

Bolton’s Mark Davies has a slight hamstring strain for the Chelsea game but is expected to be available. Owen Coyle also admitted Kevin Davies is still struggling to be fit after tweaking medial knee ligaments- the Trotters will assess their skipper tomorrow before making any decision. Joe Riley missed a reserve game in midweek due to a bruised foot and will also be monitored ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash.

Martin Jol received some positive injury news ahead of Fulham’s derby with QPR. Philippe Senderos is available after recovering from a groin problem, while Orlando Sa and Andrew Johnson will both offer options up front. Jol also revealed Pavel Pogrebnyak has shrugged off a foot injury and is fit and available for selection, after being subbed off in the Gameweek 25 win over Stoke with the problem. The Cottagers have almost a clean bill of health, with Steve Sidwell and Zdenek Grygera the only absentees for the Loftus Road showdown.

Tony Pulis has left behind a number of key figures for Stoke’s Europa League trip to Valencia. With the Potters 1-0 down from the first leg, their manager’s decision to rest the likes of Ryan Shawcross, Peter Crouch and Jon Walters may have raised many an eyebrow, but it’s good news for Fantasy managers ahead of the home clash against Swansea on Sunday, as Pulis looks to address a slump that has seen his side beaten in each of the last four gameweeks:

There have been one or two players who have looked tired just recently. We take a great deal of notice every week of Prozone stats and there are one or two whose monitor is showing empty, so they need a breather. We also have a couple of injuries and knocks we are concerned about and it is important to get them right with the games we have coming up.

The Mirror has suggested Sebastien Squillaci and Francis Coquelin – who both limped out of the FA Cup defeat at Sunderland- will miss out this weekend, as Arsenal prepare to face Spurs on Sunday. As the defensive worries pile up for Arsene Wenger, Carl Jenkinson has made a successful comeback in the Gunners reserves. The youngster hasn’t played since Gameweek 11 due to a back problem but managed 45 minutes on Tuesday evening. Aaron Ramsey is believed to be a doubt, after being subbed off with an ankle knock at the Stadium of Light, while Marouane Chamakh is struggling to overcome a toe problem.

Emmanuel Adebayor offered further indication of his imminent return from a knee problem yesterday. The Tottenham forward – who missed the weekend FA Cup draw at Stevenage- revealed via twitter that he is back in full training ahead of the trip to former club Arsenal on Sunday:

Good training session today. Knee is feeling better. Really enjoy it today.

As reported yesterday, Wayne Rooney is out of this evening’s Europa League clash with Ajax due to a throat infection. The forward has been suffering from the problem for a week, with Sir Alex Ferguson hopeful he will be fit for the trip to Norwich. Dimitar Berbatov has recovered from a knock, though, and is available to start against the Dutch side, while Ferguson also revealed he is planning to afford Tom Cleverley the full 90 minutes. United’s midfield received a further boost with the news that Anderson is back training with the first-team- the Brazilian has played only two times since Gameweek 9, with a knee injury curtailing much of his season.

Martin O’Neill has admitted Nicklas Bendtner is in contention for Sunderland this Saturday. The Black Cats travel to West Brom on the back of last weekend’s FA Cup win over Arsenal – a game Bendtner was unavailable for due to the loan deal with his parent club. O’Neill has seen Fraizer Campbell team up successfully with Stephane Sessegnon since the Dane limped out of the Gameweek 22 match at Swansea with facial injuries and, given Campbell’s eye-catching displays, a place on the bench may be as good as Bendtner is likely to muster at the Hawthorns.

ot 2 free transfers but no idea what to do with them. My team is:

    Vorm Sor
    Komp Evans Taiwo Simpson Kelly
    Silva Bale Dempsey McClean Valencia
    RVP Aguero Ba

Nothing in the bank. I guess I could sell Tony V as he’s injured, but who to buy?

Siggy? Can’t see myself playing him much over McClean in the next few weeks.
    Taraabt?
    Cleverly?

Cheers, but I can't get Yaya as I already have 3 City.

The Cahill transfer seems a bit pointless as I already have 4/5 decent defensive options this week. Might consider Raylor for Simpson as he's OOP at least.

I have the same midfield and forward line as you and am thinking I will probably just bench Valencia for now as I wouldn't particularly want to bench any of the others this week anyway.

Has anyone actually seen any information on how long Valencia is expected to be out for other than the quote Fergie made about it being four weeks immediately after the Ajax first leg? He can't have had a scan or anything at that point and I would hate to waste a transfer shipping him out only to want to bring him back in again within a week or two?

If anything Valencia's injury has at least made my decision on who to bench this week a simple one, the last couple of weeks have been a nightmare!

I pretty much agree. It's only the fact that I have 2 frees so it seems a shame not to use one that's making me consider getting rid. I also still have a wildcard so I'm not too worried about using a transfer.

They have to have him on the team sheet a set number of times or it triggers a release clause in his contract. He'll only play if there is an injury to one of the other strikers.

He'll warm the bench and be sold in the summer and good riddance to the toxic git.

that was mertesacker, koscielny picked up a knock against milan. it's not so much that koscielny is great, it's arguably more that his replacements are not up to scratch, it's hard enough to play tottenham with a strong defence

Considering the same. Taraabt has the fixtures short term for sure, and all those shots he has one has to go in surely.

I think Clev will play; seems to be a key part of the team when fit now. Gives old Scholesy's bones a bit of a rest too. I suppose Wigan are a bit too unpredictable which kind of rules out Beausejour, although I do like him as a player.

It's a tricky one for sure...they will be bench fodder most of the time, so does that suggest I should just go for the cheaper option in Siggy?

Quite like Taarabt - think he's got a good second half to the season in him with nice fixtures .. but it's a fairly big risk.

Surman is good value for a cheapy ... Cabaye should pick up points in the next 4 GWs and is under the radar too ...

Yeah, he's such a player when he's on it. Which he looks like he might well be under Hughes. I already have Taiwo though; not sure I want 2 QPR.

Surman's a good shout, as is Pilks, I just worry about rotation with Norwich.

I'm pretty happy with Ba for Newcastle coverage, and whilst being a fantastic player, Cabaye plays quite deep, a bit like Modric.

    Hi guys,

Thinking of pushing the button on (for a 4 point hit)
    Flect to Ba
    Valencia to Moses
    Huth to Cahill

    Which would give me:

    Sorenson,
    Richards, Cahill, Kelly,
    Dempsey, Bale, Silva, Moses,
    Dzeko, Ba, RVP
    (Linde, Sess, BAE, Enrique)

Any thoughts welcome (as there are quite a few options if you are making 3 transfers).

    Thanks as always!!

I'd keep Huth, play him next week, then ditch for Cahill, keep the 4 pts but I can see the temptation!

He's so dangerous is Surman, love owning him.

Sigurdsson as well, another good, cheap option.

Huth vs Norwich screams points to me, then ditch him. I regret taking him out for Micah's 1 last week - should have kept hold of him.

        How does this look, mate:

Europa League Group L Match day 1 Preview
A friendly Group, full of intriguing possibilities. Will the favourite Mac, who is ranked 32,466, run away with it? Can the dark horse FC Barsenalona - ignore his rank, he started in game week 6 - move like Agger and cause an upset? Or will thobe230, who by his own admission has Norfolk-in-chance, come through on the rails? Perhaps Doosra, who owns to being crap at this game, can hand De Jong Song Silva the dreaded black spot! Arrr, me hearties, all will be revealed soon enough!

Sturm (FC Barsenalona) vs Lokomotiv Moskva (thobe230)
The lesser ranked teams fight first in this group, with thobe230 fielding a very tasty team indeed! A lot may ride on Norfolk-in-chance’s transfer!
        Injury / Team News:
Sturm - With Valencia out, was the transfer used to bring in Sigurdsson, or some other mysterious midfielder - Cabaye perhaps - to freshen things up?.
Lokomotiv Moskva - Two free transfers available, which may be planned for game week 28, as this strong and well balance team enters the fray. Assou-Ekotto and Valencia are injured, but there is still enough firepower to get by.
        Predicted Line Ups
Sturm: Vorm; Kompany, Simpson, Evans; Bale, Silva, Dempsey, ❓ ; Ba, Fletcher, RVP
Lokomotiv Moskva: Krul; Kompany, Santon, Evans; Bale, Silva, Dempsey McClean; Aguero Ba RVP
        Match Verdict - Away win

        Anderlecht (Mac) V AEK (Doosra)
The two highest ranks of this group go head to head first, with home boy Mac the easy favourite. Doosra has an injury crisis with Koscielny and Assou-Ekotto both doubtful, having spent his two free transfers. Will Taarabt grab it, or will Adebayor and Etherington assist AEK to victory?
        Injury / Team News
Anderlecht - With Richards doubtful, will Taiwo be unleashed? Here is a man unafraid to bench Ba - successfully!
AEK: Mac may have to wait for this one, as the doubtful backs will muddy the waters until Monday. Adebayor almost certain to play.
        Predicted Line Ups
Anderlecht: Krul; Ivanovich, Richards, Taiwo; Dempsey, Bale, Silva, Taarabt; Ba Aguero RVP
AEK: Krul; Evans, Shawcross, Koscielny; Bale, Silva, Sessegnon, Etherington; Welbeck, Adebayor, Van Persie
        Match Verdict - Home win

    1) Dempsey > Mata
    2) Huth > Cahill
    3) Save the transfer
    4) Other

    Current team:

    Krul, Vorm

Richards, Huth, Simpson, Kelly, J Evans

    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Mclean, Siggy

        Same.
        Need your opinion.
        Mig (Friedel)
        Lescott Kompany Evans Simpson (Caulker)
        Silva Bale McClean (Ox Dyer)
        Ba(c) RVP Graham
        vs
        Hart(Morriera)
        Oshea Smalling Simpson (BAE Konscielny)
        Silva Bale Dempsey McClean (Valencia)
        Ba Dzeko Welbeck

Dont know what his transfer is. He's got 0.5 in the bank and he made it before Tony V got injured me thinks.

Probably BAE or Konscielny out me thinks.

So how to cover a 90 pt gap on him in the remaining season?

4.2 eh? So now you don't have any FT? You need to get rid of Graham preferably for Kun, but it'll need at least a 8 point hit. No point IMO, Either get in Dempsey, but your rival has him or you get in Nani if he plays well tonight for the AOC, I'm really tempted by nani, I feel he'll do really well. AOC->Nani and bench Evans? That's a possibility, I would suggest you take a second opinion on this but.

ENR, Udit, Parmtree? Just a suggestion, but wouldnt it be better if people did these match preview write-ups for a group other than their own.?

It would make it more unbiased in reference to transfers made/line ups as it would be total guesswork on some one elses's part. If you're doing your own, you will still have the knowledge of what you've done or are planning to do even if only subconciously.

It would also be interesting seeing another's perspective on your team.

Yes/No. What do the rest of you think?

Sounds like a volunteer to write the rest of them just appeared 😉

Seriously though, I agree with what you're saying, I think it's just a case of people being keen to see their own group get a write up. Certainly I'm keen to read a Group B preview. 🙂

      Catmac: Good point indeed.

But managers have limited time for such strategic writing, due to them being busy with lining up their teams for the weekend. I'd expect by penning the group review of their OWN group gives them more clarity of what needs to be done in Matchday 1 for their team & probably for the future Matchdays as well.

I understand what you're saying ENR and if people are happy doing their own group seeing as they have already researched the other teams in it, I have no problem with that at all. It's just that I dont know if I'd be good enough to preview my own team impartially enough.
