Robin Van Persie is rated as doubtful for Holland’s friendly with England this evening after failing to complete training yesterday. The Arsenal skipper felt some discomfort in his groin towards the end of the session and was withdrawn as a precautionary measure.

Van Persie is thought to have initially picked up the problem in the 5-2 win over Spurs on Sunday but, while some reports claim Arsenal were aware of the knock and considered it to be minor, others claim the Gunners were oblivious to any problem.

The player will undergo a fitness test this morning ahead of the clash and it seems if there is any doubt, Van Persie is unlikely to feature. Arsene Wenger has been keen to ensure his captain doesn’t over-exert himself on international duty and the Dutch FA will be unlikely to ire Wenger by fielding Van Persie if the player is at risk.

Dutch boss Bert van Marwijk put a positive spin on the situation, though, claiming Van Persie sat out the rest of training as nothing more than a precautionary measure. Van Marwijk is certainly confident the Arsenal star will feature at Wembley, saying:

We do not take risks with Robin. I did it so that he can play on Wednesday. We will have to wait and see but I don’t think it’s too serious. I am optimistic he will play.

Obviously, any absence on the domestic front would have a major effect on our Fantasy thinking but for now, Van Marwijk’s words should put us at ease. Tonight’s lineup at Wembley will be eagerly anticipated, then.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

who is likely to score more points this week - suarez at home V arsenal, or sturridge away at west brom?
in other words, should i use my free transfer to bring in suarez for stu as preparation for DGW, or wait till after this game?

Arsenal don't defend very well and Liverpool with create enough chances. Chelsea are really boring and the Sturridge ship sailed a long time ago. Suarez to score v Arsenal and Sturridge to do nothing @ West Brom.

Hmm well the odds for WBA and Arsenal clean sheets are very similar - do you think Suarez is more likely to be involved in a Liv goal than Sturridge in a Che one?

I agree Suarez's scoring form is pretty disgusting. He can't stop hitting the woodwork! But something has to give and I can see him scoring a few in the coming GW's. He tends to do well in the big games aswell (excluding Carling Cup final).

news like this is somewhat interesting, but i've come to assume that it's the club manager (or player, under club instructions) using a very minor injury to ensure the player isn't risked in an international friendly.

for example, frank lampard pulled out of the england squad last summer, then when the match was cancelled due to the riots he immediately announced that he'd miraculously recovered from his niggle and played 3 days later.

all these players (rooney, RVP etc) are crucial to their club's success. i'll be very surprised if they don't play the next league game..

RVP has to get injured at some point in the season, it's the law. Now would be the perfect time for Rooney. But you're probably right, it's probably exaggerated to get out of international duty.

On the one hand nobody can be bothered with this international friendly, England are boring anyways! On the other hand I think it's a disgrace that 15 players have pulled out with "niggles" and they should show more dedication to their countries

Right, I’m going to take a risk and bring Suarez in this week for Aguero and Skrtle for Richards next week.

Leaves me with no Man City cover, but I need to make points up on my rivals.

I swore I wouldn’t play around with these DGW after the last Everton shambles, but…

    What do you think?

    Vorm – Ruddy
    Kelly S – Enrique – Richards – Caulker – Santon
    Sessegnon – Valencia – Dempsey – Bale – McClean
Ba – Van Persie – Aguero

    Schwarzer

    Santon Richards, Caulker

    Siggy, Bale, Dempsey (vc) Silva

    RvP, Aguero (c) Ba

    Migns, McLean, Taiwo, Evans

Should I play Santon and/or McLean, if so for whom. Am also thinking of saving my FT this week to allow for a GW28 double of

Aguero ➡ Rooney (still don’t want Suarez, DGW or not) and

    Richards ➡ Skrtel

Is it worth doing anything else for a 4 point hit with 1.3 in the bank?

I think the consensus is Rooney. They both will probably score 1 goal. Suarez will get 2 more appearance points. But all his missed shots will mean he'll get no bonus. But you'll want Rooney after for the amazing fixtures anyway so he seems the most sensible pick so that you don't waste transfers.

      Rooney

PPG is much higher. It's not double that of Suarez but if you intend to get Rooney in for Suarez GW29 you might as well save the transfer and get him GW28.

Silva is top of the MF table, obviously a superb talent etc, but the big points have dried up a bit for him recently. Reckon it's worth subbing him to free up funds for Suarez, for the DGW at least? I'm far enough in front of my rivals that I don't have to worry about losing 4 points on an extra transfer here or there.

Is it not a bit presumptuous to assume Valencia will be back fit and starting for GW28? You never know with a hamstring injury and if he comes back to soon it could make it worse in the long run. And I don't like to play a WC with a big red flag either.

Apart from that, if you want 3 Liverpool players, you'll need to bring one in this week otherwise it'll be a -4pts next week.

played scotland in final, and most of them had full beards and were over 6 foot. turns out half them were iin their late teens early 20s and doing national service, some were even married with couple of kids. Up against little guys like Paul Dickov as well.
I still think Saudi owe me my £5 entry fee back

I standing by him cos Fergie loves him and he will start as soon as he's fit. He was unlikely to score against Spurs this week anyways so an extra weeks rest means tonnes of points the week after!!

My plan for the next two weeks is:

                    GW27: Ben Arfa>Surman (1 of 2 free transfers)
GW28: Hart, Kompany, Welbeck> Reina, Skrtel, Rooney (4 point hit)

Don't know if that helps at all?

Not sure about getting rid of Hart and Kompany. I still think Man City have just as much chance of getting CS from swansea than Liverpool have from Sunderland and Everton. City keep the ball very well and restrict opponents to very few shots, crazy to get rid, regardless of fixtures.

I am.....just got to gauge this whole RVP situation. I was planning on saving a transfer, this could potentially change that and as a result my future weeks planning for DGW's, fixture disruption could all go out of the window.

Judging by the Dutch coachs' comments he's more than likely going to play against England and with RVP's injury track record I am on pins. I think he'll most likely start in the next prem match but I am anxious to see if it actually happens!

Thinking of Sturridge to Bellamy for a punt to accompany Enrique. But also fancy Pomegranite who's home to Wolves this week and been on fire..?

So may do Pome this week, then Bellers next week for DGW whilst Fulham are away, then back to Pome/Cisse/Holt!! 🙂

Just have a nagging feeling Bellamy will start against Arsenal and score, so profit to be made there next week... 🙂

Although RVPs knock is minor, will this affect his effort in future matches? Will he lose that edge? And is the knock a sign of things to come, is the injury going to progress into a more serious injury? A straight RVP -> Rooney transfer is looking more appealing...

The questions you're asking sound like you are trying to find reasons to sell him. Minor knocks happen all the time. Selling RVP does not appeal to me at all.

I can't see anything wrong, great team. You have Enrique for DGW and i think that's enough. You're ready for Rooney. You have a lot of free cash, maybe upgrade a keeper or a midfielder?

No idea. Swansea's form is starting to drop, and Sunderland have some terrible fixtures coming up. Pilkington or Surman are players to consider though, their fixtures are good and Norwich are playing well at the moment. I've heard good things from Miyaichi as well; and he has good fixtures.

Best replacement for Richards? I'm fed up with him not playing!

The obvious choice is Kompany (I've got enough money).

But I'm tempted by Lescott or Skrtel, any thoughts?

Keep him for this week, he will play. Then transfer for a Liverpool defender for the DGW.

BTW I feel your Richards pain, the guy is doing me nut in!

                          +1.

Richards > LPL defender for DGW and potential City blank in GW29.

You can always get a City defender back in a few weeks.

So that means on 5th of May there will be a blank for 4 teams and potential doubles before or after
