Members Paddy Power Cup II – Round Two Results

The results for the second round of the Members Paddy Power Cup II are in and can be viewed right here. 256 fantasy managers became 128, after battling it out in Gameweek 26 for a place in the third round.

An above average number of drawn matches in the second round, saw 11 managers progress thanks to their overall rank. Relying on their previous hard work this week were RedcarRed, seanmcging, Back to Back Ballacks, Denis Denis, Browndog, Marvellus, Encaiter, stewpot, Billy Ketsu, skooldaze and Horizontal.

The reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers, is still in the mix after a comfortable 56 – 46 victory over Sounerous.

An amazingly low-scoring week produced a top score of 63, with only one manager breaking the usually standard 60-point mark. That title goes to sandgrounder, who defeated albion74 by 12 points in the process.

Congratulations to everyone progressing, and of course commiserations to those bowing out at this stage. The round three fixtures will be drawn and announced shortly.

  Stoke have some good home fixtures left and he becomes an option then. Apart from those games it's easy to leave him on the bench as you intend to. Stoke at home offer a decent chance of a CS. I'd never be confident of a CS from Norwich or Blackburn. Not sure about the gametime of 2 and 3 but I think Wilko is first choice.

  You don't need Nani when you have Valencia and your midfield is heavy enough as it is. In my opinion, you need Rooney. A Liverpool defender would be useful though. Could you manage Enrique, Surman and Rooney?

Just don`t feel like I need to use it. Happy w my squad atm, and with 3 transfers before GW28, I can bring in Liverpool defender / Rooney/Suarez.

Praying another DGW is coming up at a later stage.

Morning all,

Can anyone see how I can improve things here? Id like Enrique for the DGW, but no one else tempts me for the double, Gerrard or Suarez would just mess up the balance of my team. Im leaning towards Richards > Enrique this week, but is there a chance Richards could start against Bolton.

Any other obvious changes im not seeing?

Just a quick thought on the Stoke rotation of GKs. I read that each keeper had played a similar amount of matches (about 20 each) and we know that TP's policy was to generally have 1 keeper for the league, and 1 for the cup competitions.

Well with them out of all cup competitions other than the FA cup, in which you'd assume Liverpool will beat them in the next round, is it possible TP will just rotate his GKs in the league from now on?

Point being, there is no certainty with who he will select for the run in, and so stay away.

  Yeah, good points. Although the whole point of Pulis rotating his GKs was to keep them fresh for the league/Europa/F.A Cup. Now that they're out of the Europa, I can't see him rotating too much, especially as we're not coming to the end of the season.

ok folks thoughts a 4 point hit to get Bale out Gerrard for 2 weeks as Stevie has DGW and has a fixture GW29.

Am already planning Aguero ➡ Rooney and Richards ➡ Skrtel for free.

Ok so 2 free transfers before Liverpool double GW and Man Utd at home to West Brom.

I currently only have J Evans from either side.

Do I:

a) Get 2 x liverpool defenders, Man Utd can wait and West Brom aren't bad anyway?
b) Get 1 Liverpool defender & 1 Man Utd Attacker - for a bit of balance?
c) Get Suarez & Man Utd defender - who cares about defenders anyway?
d) Take a 4 pt hit.

  I don't think it matters because i doubt you would play any of those! I assume these are transfers you are doing, it's just the order you want? I guess Siggy->Surman might be safe because Swansea are poor away from home. I can't see Huth getting a CS but he might score so it's best to keep him for this week.
