Carlos Tevez helps City’s reserves to a win over Bolton. John Terry returns to the Chelsea squad ahead of schedule. Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka step up their recoveries ahead of Everton’s double gameweek, Victor Moses insists Roberto Martinez was right to drop him last weekend, while Paul Scholes is reported to have missed training for United this morning:

Carlos Tevez continued to build up his fitness as he turned out out for Man City’s reserves yesterday. The Argentine grabbed City’s first in a 3-1 win over Bolton before being subbed off with 20 minutes of the game remaining. Tevez managed 45 minutes for the second string last week- clearly, then, his fitness is building week by week but right now, he still appears to be some way off a return to first-team action, as Roberto Mancini affords him a platform in City’s second string before considering Tevez for league duties.

John Terry was on the bench for Chelsea last night, just two weeks after undergoing knee surgery. The Blue skipper was expected to be out for 4-6 weeks after an investigative operation but has returned quicker than anticipated. He was an unused sub in his side’s 2-0 FA Cup replay win over Birmingham last night but, according to Roberto Di Matteo, is available for action once again:

John has done very well and is determined to help the club, and we’re pleased to see him. He’s available. We have to take him with small steps because he’s done well to come back in just over two weeks. But it was good to see him.

Di Matteo sprung something of a surprise in terms of lineup, with Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien all joining Terry on the bench. Many had expected the interim boss to install the likes of Lampard back into the first team following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, but he instead opted for a 4-2-3-1, with Salomon Kalou wide left, Ramires wide right, and Juan Mata tucked in behind Fernando Torres. Mata missed yet another spot-kick, having fluffed his chances in the first game at Stamford Bridge, but with both Lampard and Drogba on the bench at the time, the Spaniard still looks to be at least third in line for penalties. Ashley Cole missed out in the St Andrews win, having failed to recover from an ankle problem. Ryan Bertrand took his place at left-back, though the former is expected to be available for the home clash with Stoke on Saturday.

Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka both managed 90 minutes for Everton’s reserves yesterday. The pair haven’t featured for the first-team since limping out of the first match of double gameweek 20 back in January but, having recovered from knee and hamstring injuries respectively, could be on the verge of a first-team return.Reports suggest the likeliest date is the FA Cup clash with Sunderland on March 17, with David Moyes perhaps reluctant to rush either back, with his side’s six-match unbeaten league run –including wins over City and Chelsea- indicative of the Toffees form right now.

Victor Moses admitted Roberto Martinez made the right decision in starting him from the bench last weekend against Swansea. The Wigan managers’ decision was publicly questioned by chairman Dave Whelan after the match, with Mohamed Diame and Hugo Rodallega also listed amongst the subs in the 2-0 home loss. Moses –who had started every one of the Latics league matches prior to last weekend- sprung to his manager’s defence, conceding that his midweek international commitments had left him fatigued:

I was feeling tired after being away with Nigeria. I’d done a lot of travelling in a short space of time- the fans probably don’t realise that travelling so far for a game in midweek really does take it out of you, out of your legs especially. A couple of the other lads were the same – only getting back on Friday evening – and when you’re going out with tired legs, that’s when you’re risking getting injuries – which the gaffer is trying to prevent.

Reports suggest both Paul Scholes and Michael Owen missed training this morning for United ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League home clash with Athletic Bilbao. Chris Smalling has returned to full training after recovering from his recent head knock sustained in England’s friendly defeat to Holland, while Antonio Valencia did some light running away from the first-team squad.

Karl Henry has been ruled out for 3-4 weeks after scans revealed he has picked up a hamstring injury. The midfielder was subbed off early in the 5-0 hammering at Fulham and, with Terry Connor also admitting Dave Edwards is “probably†out of this weekend’s crucial home clash with Blackburn, David Davis has been recalled from a loan spell with Chesterfield on Monday. Connor revealed he will have no qualms over throwing Davis straight into action against Rovers if necessary:

He’s ready and he’s training well, so if I think he’s ready to play in our first team, that’s where he has to play. He deserves to come back, and, if we’re light in midfield, we’ll consider him.

For this week, yes. Chances are one of Nani or Young isn't gonna perform and you're better off getting a cheapy with a good fixture elsewhere and upgrade somewhere else.

yep rooney + 1 defender would be the way to go till the end of the season and be busy working other players in ur team
u will always have the occasional "why not go classic 4-4-2 with giggs as a wide man"
or "park havnt played for a while, let's put him in for this gamae"
or the return of valencia from injury

Just a few strange gambles I reckon - I'd go Cech, Given, Clichy, Petrov, Adam -> Schwarzer, Mignolet, Skrtel, Nani, Siggy - doable?

Umm that's not bad for this week to be honest.

Change out your keepers for cheapies. Ship Adam for Nani or young maybe. Petrov for siggy?

I like the differentials though very gutsy.

Cech > Hart (Chelsea can't be trusted just yet)
Given > Al Habsi (Good backup keeper can save penalties)
Sagna > Walker (Better fixtures and more CS chance)
Clichy > Williams (Better differential who is nailed on)
Wheater > Mcauley (Bolton not looking good)
Adam > Dempsey (I doubt he'll do much in DGW, while dempsey is on fire)
Petrov > Siggy (No explanation required i guess)
Suarez > Rooney (if u have funds, or i hope they would start giving points for hitting the post)

    Silva Bale Mata Moses Sess

    RVP Aguero Ba

I'm going to take a shot in the dark then with two books that is in fact a bit about travelling.

Have you read 'On the road' by Jack Kerouac? It's great about being young, strange and without roots.

If you've ever had a dog or any interest in a great story about America you might instead want to read 'Travels with Charley: In search of America' by John Steinbeck. It's about him building a funny car ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TravelswithCharlieVehicle.jpg ) and taking his dog with him and going on a roadtrip in America in the 60s. This book might not be available btw, I don't know what kind of store WHSmith in Gatwick is.

            Other options:

The World According to Garp (John Irving) - if you are into really good character and plot development

A Wizard of Earthsea (Ursula Le Guin) - part of a trilogy

A Wizard of Earthsea is amazing.

In fact it was only the second fantasy book I ever came across. My elder brother first read me The Hobbit when I was eight years or so, and then A Wizard of Earthsea after that. I re-read it as an adult and I still love it. Great work of fantasy.

I bloody love reading, cant beat a good binge read. As for a book, all depends on what you like. Factual - The Greatest Traitor by Ian Mortimer is really good.
Historical Fiction - I really liked The Afghan Campaign by Steven Pressfield
Fantasy - I recommend the Game of Thrones series, read them all and enjoyed em.
Sports - I enjoyed the Miracle of Castel Di Sangro
(amazon link to the last http://www.amazon.co.uk/Miracle-Castel-Sangro-Joe-McGinniss/dp/075152753X/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1331130512&sr=1-7 ) I found the author a bit annoying, but its an amazing story.

I don't get this hysterical rush to drop Sess. Everyone's looking to drop him because of the card but he'll only miss 2 games and when he's back he will still be one of the best value midfielders in the game, (i.e. points per £). Also, most people on here would have got him when he was cheap and will lose about 0.5M to get him back. For 2 missed games, I just don't get it.

He's back in time for QPR at home (kerching!) but yeah, I guess it gets a bit sticky for a few weeks after that. Mind you, I wouldn't bet against him scoring against Spurs at home or even Everton away and it loosens up a fair bit after GW33. I'll hang onto him but I suppose I understand the exodus a little more now.

    Nani vs silva.

    I can't have both.

I have about 50 points to catch up to my league leader and can't decide to either keep silva who he also has or to ship for Nani/young/someone else.

Loads on here must be having the same dilemma.

    Has silva had his day?

    Will Nani step up?

Nani has better fixtures & can be more explosive.

Silva has harder fixtures an usually scores low but consistent points.

IMO in your situation I think it would be worth having Nani. I am also chasing a lead and I have gone with Nani over Silva.

away with work this week and haven't been able to get access to my team until now, in my head I had planned Aguero & Sess > Suarez & Young but a price rise last night has made that agonisingly impossible.

Anyone considering Bellamy for the DGW? Really want some MU attacking cover as I have none since ditching Valencia 2/3 weeks ago. Tempted to avoid Liverpool as I have Enrique already. Just go for Rooney up top and downgrade Sess to (dare I say it) Drenthe?!!

11 gameweeks, say a catch up rate of around 10-15 points a round gives within 110 - 165 points so anyone with around 1600 points is possibly in it. Not sure exactly where that fits.

But how is it realistic to assume its possible to catch up 10-15 points per round on EVERYONE above oneself? The people near the top are there for a reason, they are good at this game. So you need to be within 50 points of 1st place, Id say, to have a chance.

I think you'll need to be at least in the top500 or so, without checking the score difference between first and 1000th etc. Reason you need to be high is that if you're not someone ahead will certainly have exactly the same squad as you at any given time, and if yours is not perfect someone else will have the players you should've had.

Being 10 points behind, you shouldn't be taking a 4 point hit for someone who's scored 6 goals all season ahead of someone whos scored 16 and has got Norwich at home next week. A DGW doesn't suddenly make someone prolific, even if he does score a goal it's unlikely to pay that 4 point hit back over Ba and you'll waste a transfer getting him out.

Tempted to ditch Kompany and get Hart for City defensive coverage instead, meaning I could get Bogdan as the ultimate cheapy and leave him on the bech every week. Current keepers are Krul and Mignolet but downgrading Kompany frees up funds elsewhere.

First RMWCT for me in 2-3 days 🙂

So I am very happy with this team now, and I can't see anything wrong with it.
Going without any City players because I'm a United fan and their fixtures aren't good.
Last City player I was determined to keep in my WC was Silva, but got rid of him for Young. I posted a long post yesterday why.

    So here's my WC team:

    Schwarzer-Mignolet
    Caulker-Evans-BAE-Skrtel-Olsson(WBA)
    Dempsey-Bale-Young-Sigurdsson-Miyaichi
    Holt-RVP-Rooney

Holt is a one week punt, before straight swap to Odemwingie.

    Any opinions please? 🙂

Valencia isn't injured free and Odem is a nice punt. They have quite good fixtures. Adebayor in poor form IMO.

I think he'll rotate with Nani or even play RB. But that is if Young continues his form, like he had aginst Spurs.

Yep, but as I said I'm a united fan and have to start hoping for a league win. Though I have had City players all season, and felt this was the right time to get rid of them, as I am wildcarding and they don't have good fixtures.

I like it because you're smart enough not to have Suarez. That is a huge one in your favor.

If you think Young is going to hold down his spot, then good luck to you: I don't. Nani is the only united midfielder I would go near, right now. I like Silva to do well even with a tough(er) run of fixtures. When they play their first team, they are steamrolling.

Love the Odem idea. Should help a lot.

I still don't get why people are keeping BAE, especially when it could be Kompany (yes, I know they have tough fixtures)

Other than that, I really like it.

Cheers, United fan as said. Can't be hoping for City cleanies. 😉
I can't see why Nani should stay in the team when he is playing like he does atm. Would drop him if I were SAF, when Valencia comes back rather than Young. But that is my opinion.

I think Nani is dead set in the team, he is coming back to form now for sure, getting more assists in there. Wouldn't want to swap him with a player coming back from injury unless he starts dipping in form again.

Yeah, but it doesnt work that way. Nani has more ability to win United a game single-handedly than either of the others. Valencia isn't explosive and Young is extremely inconsistent.

Think the only reason people keep BAE is for his attacking threat, but most people havent got a WC to change him... and use their FT's for better use.

Anyone knows what bloody ranking is needed for your GW1 ranking to be equal to your overall ranking?

Is there someone with a GW2 entry with a link for me to look at?

Due to the technical *hic* problems in GW1 and the wildcard, some jammy or skillful people are doing better than most of us, even though they're a week down!

is ba on free kicks? Ok rvp or rooney. Chasing but both my rival and eye own the Dutchman. Roonpig as a differential or ignore the law of rvp at your peril.

Ba isnt on freekicks generally, but he'll have the odd shootable one.

As for the RVP or Rooney (I assume you mean for captain) then its a toughie, flip a coin. Personally Id pick RVP as WBA are on the up while we (Newcastle) are on a slide.
